図4〜6に示すように、植付爪2の左右両側に前方側に突出する一対の葉支え部27が固定されている(図1〜図3では図示省略されている)。この葉支え部27はそれぞれ屈曲した棒材の両端が植付爪2の各爪片2a,2aに固定されたもので、特に図4(c)に示されるように、植付爪2及び摺動爪23とともに全体として凹状をなし、そこにポット苗4の葉部4bを保持できるようになっている。この葉支え部27でポット苗4の葉部4bを保持することにより、ポット苗4の葉部4bが植付爪2に対して大きく傾斜したり、外れたり位置ずれを起こすことがなく、ポット苗4の植付姿勢が乱れるのが防止される。

図5,6に示すように、無端状搬送ベルト1の表面に回転方向に沿った連続するリブ28が形成されている。無端状搬送ベルト1上においてポット苗4の葉部4bはこのリブ28上に置かれてほぼ水平に支えられ、ポット苗4が無端状搬送ベルト1の端縁から送り出されるとき、葉部4bはリブ28の高さ分だけ遠くに送り出される。従来の無端状搬送ベルトにおいては、ポット苗4は、葉部4bの中心が根鉢部4aの中心より無端状搬送ベルト側に寄った形(つまり、ポット苗4が傾斜した状態・・・・極端な場合は図8のようになっていた)で送り出され、その結果としてポット苗4の植付姿勢が乱れることがあったが、図5の例では、無端状搬送ベルト1が葉部4bに対応する位置にリブ28を備えることにより、ポット苗4は無端状搬送ベルト2の端縁に対してほぼ平行に送り出され、植付爪2はそのポット苗4を受け取るから、植付爪2の長さ方向とポット苗4がほぼ平行となり、ポット苗4の植付姿勢が乱れるのが防止される。
リブ28を備えた無端状搬送ベルト1と葉支え部27を備えた植付爪2の協働作用により、ポット苗4の植付姿勢の乱れ防止の確実性がさらに増す。図5に示すように、植付爪2がポット苗4を受け取る際に、葉支え部27はリブ28の頂部より内側に進入しており、これにより葉部4bを確実に保持できる。
