【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、トランスおよび高電圧発生装置に関し、特に、大電力を出力する高電圧発生装置の高さ寸法を小さくすることができるようにしたトランスおよび高電圧発生装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
近年、高電圧を使用するフラットパネル型表示装置が普及し、それに伴って、高電圧発生装置は、表示装置の薄さに適合する形状であることが求められている。

図1乃至図7は、従来の高電圧発生装置1の一例の構成を示している。高電圧発生装置1は、例えば、出力電圧が10kVで、出力電力が50Wの出力を得るように設計されている。また、高電圧発生装置1では、トランスが用いられており、そのトランスの2次側巻線(高圧巻線)の巻数は約2000回である。さらに、高電圧発生装置1には、両波倍圧方式の整流回路が用いられている。

高電圧発生装置1は、コア21、コイル(1次側巻線と2次側巻線)が巻かれたコイルボビン22、および外装ケース23から構成されている。外装ケース23には、2次側巻線に発生した電圧(1次側巻線に印加される電圧が昇圧された電圧)を出力する高圧出力取り出し口24が設けられている。また、外装ケース23内には、高圧整流回路基板31が設けられ、高圧整流回路基板31には、高圧コンデンサ32、高圧出力検出用抵抗器33、高圧整流器34−1乃至34−3、およびコンデンサ35が設けられている。

図2は、図1の高電圧発生装置1のA−A’線断面図である。図2において、コア21の、図中、横の長さ(高さ)は、約30mmである。

図3乃至図6を用いて、コア21の詳細を説明する。図3は、コア21の正面図である。図3に示すように、コア21の中央には、開口部40が設けられている。コア21は、1次側巻線41および2次側巻線42が巻かれたコイルボビン22が装着される芯部61、芯部61と対向する位置にあるコア上部62、芯部61の左側のコア左部63、および芯部61の右側のコア右部64から構成される。

コア21は、芯部61に巻つけられる1次側巻線41に交流電圧が印加されると、励磁される。そして、コア21に発生した磁束が時間変化することによって、2次側巻線42に交流電圧が発生する。コア21を通る磁束密度は、コア21の断面積によって異なるため、コア21の各部、即ち、芯部61、コア上部62、コア左部63、およびコア右部64の磁束密度を同一にするには、コア21の各部の断面積をほぼ同一とする必要がある。従って、コア21の大きさは、図4と図5に示すようになる。

1次側巻線41の両端の1次側端子43−1と43−2に電圧が印加されると、コア21が励磁され、2次側巻線42に交流電圧が発生する。その交流電圧は、高圧整流器34−1乃至34−3とコンデンサ35から構成される両波整流回路により整流されることによって、直流電圧(直流電流)に変換される。この直流電圧は、高圧コンデンサ32と高圧出力検出用抵抗器33の一端にも印加される。高圧コンデンサ32は、印加された直流電圧を平滑して、高圧出力取り出し口24から出力するとともに、入力側(1次側巻線41側)にフィードバックする。高圧出力検出用抵抗器33も、印加された直流電圧を入力側にフィードバックする。

また、高電圧発生装置として、断面平角上のコイル(1次側巻線と2次側巻線)を用いて薄型にしたトランスも提案されている(特に、特許文献1)。

しかしながら、コア21、1次側巻線41、および2次側巻線42から構成されるトランスの大きさは、出力電力と耐圧により決定され、上述した図1乃至図7に示すように、1個のコアを用いたトランスでは、出力電力を大きくしたい場合、コア21の大きさを小さくすることが困難であった。

即ち、トランスが出力する出力電力を大きくしようとすればするほど、コア21の断面積を大きくする必要があり、出力電圧が10kV、出力電力が50Wの出力を得るためには、かなり大型のトランスが必要となる。従って、そのトランスを用いた高電圧発生装置1を表示装置に用いた場合、高電圧発生装置1の大きさが、表示装置の薄型化の障害となってしまう。

例えば、高電圧発生装置1の動作周波数を高くしたり、コア21に高機能のコア材料を用いた場合でも、50Wの出力電力を得るトランスの高さ(図3のX方向の長さ)を10mm程度に納めることは困難であった。

そこで、コアの高さ寸法を小さくするために、特殊なコア形状を有する高電圧発生装置が提案されている。

図8乃至図13は、従来の高電圧発生装置の他の一例の構成を示している。高電圧発生装置70は、例えば、出力電圧が10kVで、出力電力が50Wの出力を得るように設計されている。また、この高電圧発生装置70は、多倍圧整流回路を用いている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、出力電力は、コア71の断面積の大きさによるため、出力電力を変えずに、高さ寸法を小さくしようとすると、コア71は、図10に示すように、コア上部121の、図中、横の長さが長くなってしまい、さらに特殊な形状のコアとなるという問題があった。

また、高電圧発生装置70の高圧整流器80−1乃至80−8に、通常の高圧整流器を用いた場合、高圧整流器80−1乃至80−8に流すことのできる電流は、3mA程度が限界である。従って、大きい出力電流を得たい場合に、図8乃至図13に示すような高電圧発生装置70を用いることは、現実的に困難であった。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明のトランスは、所定の高さのコアであって、その高さ方向に垂直な平面上に、高さ方向が平行となるように配置された複数のコアと、コアに巻かれる1次側巻線および1次側巻線に印加される電圧を昇圧する2次側巻線とを備え、複数のコアそれぞれの2次側巻線が直列に接続されていることを特徴とする。
