Abstract
Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an optical scanning device and an image forming apparatus, and can be used for a laser beam printer (LBP), a digital copying machine, a plain paper facsimile (PPF), and the like.
[0002]
[Prior art]
In recent years, image forming apparatuses such as laser beam printers have been accelerated in increasing the density of images formed. In order to increase the density of the formed image, it is necessary to reduce the diameter of a beam spot for optical scanning on an image forming surface such as a photoconductor, and an optical scanning device for realizing this is required.
In order to reduce the beam spot diameter, a special toric surface in which the radius of curvature in the sub-scanning section changes asymmetrically from the optical axis of the lens surface toward the periphery in the main scanning direction is used. A configured two-lens scanning lens has been proposed (see, for example, Patent Document 1).
[0003]
In addition, in order to correct the wavefront aberration satisfactorily and realize a stable and good light spot, at least one surface of the lens included in the scanning imaging optical system has an arc or non-arc shape in the main scanning plane, A sub-arc surface whose shape in the sub-scanning surface is a non-arc shape, and this sub-non-arc surface is a lens of the principal ray of the deflected light beam incident on each surface of the lens of the scanning imaging optical system. There has been proposed an optical scanning device formed so that the incident angle with respect to the normal of the surface is 25 degrees or less in the entire lens effective region (see, for example, Patent Document 2).

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, a conventional scanning lens using a special toric surface as described in
・ Beam spot diameter increases due to eccentricity.
When the special toric surface is used for a surface with a large inclination angle, the processing accuracy is deteriorated, and a beam spot diameter is increased due to a shape error such as waviness, and image defects such as vertical stripes occur.
[0006]
Moreover, the scanning lens using the conventional special toric surface as described in
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
An object of the present invention is to provide an optical scanning device that can be formed into a scanning lens shape excellent in workability and can realize a reduction in the diameter of a beam spot.
Another object of the present invention is to provide an optical scanning device which has good shading characteristics and hardly generates ghost light.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide an optical scanning device capable of realizing a reduction in beam spot diameter while using a thin and small scanning lens.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide an image forming apparatus capable of forming an image with fine granularity and high density and excellent gradation.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, an optical scanning device according to
[0009]
By making the surface close to the deflecting means of the scanning lens closest to the deflecting reflecting surface into a special toric surface, the following effects can be obtained.
・ Designed wavefront aberration can be reduced.
The difference due to the image height of the F number in the sub-scanning direction on the surface to be scanned can be reduced, and the deviation of the beam spot diameter in the sub-scanning direction due to the image height can be reduced. Further, it is possible to reduce the beam pitch deviation between the image heights when the multi-beam is formed.
[0010]
The surface closest to the deflecting means of the scanning lens closest to the deflecting reflecting surface has a negative power in the sub-scanning direction, thereby reducing the absolute value of the sub-scanning lateral magnification between the deflecting surface and the surface to be scanned. This can reduce variations in the beam waist position in the sub-scanning direction due to mounting errors or shape errors of optical components.
The F-number in the sub-scanning direction of the light beam toward the surface to be scanned in the scanning optical system is reduced in the median value by increasing the peripheral part of the effective scanning width rather than the central part of the effective scanning width. In addition, it is possible to provide an optical scanning device having a high tolerance with respect to eccentricity.
[0011]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the optical scanning device according to the first aspect, the surface farthest from the deflection reflection surface of the scanning lens closest to the deflection reflection surface is a rotationally symmetric aspherical surface centered on the optical axis. It is characterized by.
According to a third aspect of the present invention, in the optical scanning device according to the first aspect, all surfaces of the scanning lens are directed to the periphery in the main scanning direction from the rotationally symmetric aspheric surface around the optical axis and the optical axis of the lens surface. It is one of the special toric surfaces whose sub-scanning curvature radius changes according to the above.
[0012]
5. The optical scanning device according to
[0013]
The scanning lens closest to the deflecting means has a concave meniscus shape toward the deflecting means in the main scanning direction, so that the scanning lens can be thinned and the light beam incident on the surface of the scanning lens. Since the opening angle of the normal to the lens surface can be reduced, wavefront aberration can be corrected. By making the power in the sub-scanning direction of the first surface of the scanning lens negative, the absolute value of the lateral magnification in the sub-scanning direction of the scanning optical system can be reduced, and the tolerance of optical element placement error and component error Can be enlarged. Further, by using a special toric surface whose sub-scanning curvature radius changes from the optical axis toward the periphery in the main scanning direction, the difference in wavefront aberration and the F-number difference in the sub-scanning direction on the surface to be scanned can be reduced. The sub-scanning beam spot diameter deviation due to the image height can be reduced. In addition, it is possible to reduce the beam pitch deviation between image heights when the multi-beam is formed.
[0014]
When the scanning lens closest to the deflection unit has a concave meniscus shape toward the deflection unit in the main scanning direction, the ghost light reflected by the first surface of the next second scanning lens is again the first scanning lens. There is a possibility that ghost light is generated again on the surface to be scanned after being reflected by the first surface or the second surface. In addition, the ghost light on the first surface and the second surface of the first scanning lens may be combined to increase the intensity of the ghost light on the surface to be scanned. However, by making the first surface of the second scanning lens convex toward the deflector side in the main scanning direction, ghost light returning to the first scanning lens can be reduced, and the problem of the image quality that is formed Will disappear.
[0015]
6. The optical scanning device according to
[0016]
According to the optical scanning device of the fifth aspect, the same effect as that of the fourth aspect of the invention can be obtained, and negative power is applied to the scanning lens farthest from the deflecting means in the main scanning direction on the optical axis. By providing the scanning lens, the scanning lens can be thinned, the fluctuation of the curvature of field in the main scanning direction due to temperature can be reduced, and a stable beam spot diameter can be obtained.
[0017]
According to a sixth aspect of the present invention, there is provided an image forming apparatus for forming an image on a transfer sheet by executing each process of charging, exposure, development, and transfer, wherein the exposure process is performed. Or an optical scanning device according to any one of the above.
By forming an image forming apparatus using the optical scanning device according to any one of

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

Therefore, in this embodiment, the sub-scanning beam spot diameter deviation due to the image height and the beam pitch deviation due to the image height when the light source is made into a multi-beam are not problematic. The scanning optical system was configured so that the F number in the scanning direction was larger in the outermost peripheral portion of the effective scanning width than in the center of the effective scanning width. As a result, the wavefront aberration at the median value can be reduced, and an optical scanning device having a high tolerance for decentration can be provided.
[0024]
Additional remarks will be made regarding the F number in the sub-scanning direction. In order to reduce the absolute value of the lateral magnification of the scanning lens in the sub-scanning direction and correct the wavefront aberration, the power in the sub-scanning direction of the first surface of the

All the surfaces of the scanning lens may be special toric surfaces in which the sub-scanning curvature radius changes from the optical axis of the lens surface toward the periphery in the main scanning direction.
In general, the surface far from the deflection reflection surface of the scanning lens closest to the deflecting means has a large tilt angle (the tilt angle of the lens surface with respect to the surface perpendicular to the optical axis), and the processing problem is very large. Use of a rotationally symmetric aspherical surface for such a surface is effective in terms of optical characteristics and processing surfaces. Further, if the surface on one side is a rotationally symmetric aspherical surface, the beam spot diameter can be reduced due to the relative eccentricity between the surfaces, which is also advantageous.

【The invention's effect】
According to the first to third aspects of the invention, the design wavefront aberration can be reduced by making the surface close to the deflecting means of the scanning lens closest to the deflecting reflecting surface a special toric surface. Further, the difference due to the image height of the F number in the sub-scanning direction on the surface to be scanned can be reduced, and the deviation of the beam spot diameter in the sub-scanning direction due to the image height can be reduced. It is also possible to reduce the beam pitch deviation between the image heights when the multi-beam is formed.
[0064]
According to the invention described in
[0065]
According to the fifth aspect of the invention, the same effect as that of the fourth aspect of the invention can be obtained, and the scanning lens farthest from the deflecting means can have a negative power in the main scanning direction on the optical axis. As a result, the scanning lens can be made thin, the field curvature variation in the main scanning direction due to temperature can be reduced, and a stable beam spot diameter can be obtained.
[0066]
According to the sixth aspect of the present invention, by forming the image forming apparatus using the optical scanning device according to any one of the first to fifth aspects, the deviation of the beam spot diameter in the sub-scanning direction due to the image height, the image High-quality images can be formed by reducing the surface curvature variation and realizing optical scanning with a stable beam spot diameter.
