本発明は、草刈機用保護カバーと草刈機に係わり、特に、安全性が高く、作業効率の良い草刈機用保護カバーと草刈機に関する。

【従来の技術】
一般に、回転刃を有する草刈機は、短時間で大量の雑草の除去作業が可能であり、専門業者だけでなく一般家庭においても広く使用されている。しかしながら、高速回転する回転刃は、作業者の足元を危険にさらすだけでなく、刈り取られた雑草や雑草中に紛れる小石等を弾き飛ばすために周囲にまで危険を及ぼす可能性も高い。そこで、このような危険作業をより安全に行うための保護具が考えられている。
【0003】例えば、特許文献1には、「雑草根,並びに雑草処理回転盤」として「円形回転盤に固定棒装置、雑草根処理板を取付け、草刈機の回転威力により雑草根、並びに雑草を処理する装置」が開示されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、特許文献1に記載された従来の技術では、飛散物防止カバーは円形回転盤の大きさや目的に合わせて複数の調整孔に蝶ねじを螺合して取付けられるが、調整孔が多いので取付け位置を間違え易く、装着が煩雑であるという課題があった。また、飛散物防止カバーは回転盤の全周に亘って覆われるので作業時の視認性が劣るという課題があった。さらに、刈る対象となる草をそのカバーの内側に導入する必要があり、高い丈の草刈作業には適さないという課題があった。
また、特許文献2では、保護カバーの形状は限定されていないものの、作業者の足元側にあたる部分に半円状の保護カバーが明示されており、この保護カバーでは、作業者に対しては小石等の飛散を防止することはできるが、周囲にいる人間や建築物等への小石等の飛散を防止できないという課題があった。
【0009】さらに、特許文献3に記載された従来の技術では、円形の洗浄ブラシの上面一帯を覆うようなカバーが取付けられており、洗浄中の飛水防止には効果的であるが、草刈機においては視認性が劣るという課題があった。また、草刈機において回転刃の上面一帯にカバーがあると背丈の高い草を刈ることが困難となり、特許文献1に開示された発明と同様に様々な草丈の草刈りに対応できないという課題もあった。
そして、特許文献4に記載された従来の技術では、安全カバーは高さ位置を変更することによって様々な刈取り高に対応することができるが、回転刃から離れた上方に設置されているので飛散する小石等を全て受け止められず、安全性が劣るという課題があった。
【0010】本発明はかかる従来の事情に対処してなされたものであり、視認性が良好で安全性が高く、また、装着が容易で様々な草丈に対応できる草刈機用保護カバーと草刈機を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
上記目的を達成するため、請求項1記載の発明である草刈機は、円形の回転刃とこの回転刃に斜設される軸部を供える草刈機の保護カバーであって、回転刃を軸部が斜設される側の略半円周に亘って覆設される第1の保護部と、この第1の保護部に設けられ残りの略半円周に亘って熊手状に覆設される第2の保護部とを有し、第1の保護部は軸部を把持可能な固定部を備えるものである。
上記構成の草刈機用保護カバーは、第1の保護部によって軸部を把持する作業者が保護され、第2の保護部によって周囲が保護されるという作用を有する。また、第2の保護部は熊手状であるので作業者の視認性を確保するという作用と同時に、熊手状の保護部の高さ以上の草を刈る場合には、熊手状の隙間へ容易に草を導入し、草やその茎が回転刃から逃げることを防止して切断を容易にする作用を有する。さらに、第1の保護部は固定部により軸部へ装着されるという作用を有する。
【0012】また、請求項2に記載の発明である草刈機用保護カバーは、請求項1に記載の草刈機用保護カバーにおいて、第2の保護部は、第1の保護部に着脱可能に設けられるものである。

上記構成の草刈機用保護カバーは、保護部が熊手状であるので作業者の視認性を確保した状態で、作業者及び周囲を保護するという作用を有する。また、固定部により軸部へ装着されるという作用を有する。さらに請求項1に記載の発明と同様に、草やその茎が回転刃から逃げることを防止して切断を容易にする作用を有する。

上記構成の草刈機は、請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか1項に記載の草刈機用保護カバーを設置することによって、作業者の視認性を確保した状態で、作業者及び周囲を保護しながら草刈作業を行うという作用を有する。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下に、本発明に係る草刈機用保護カバーの実施の形態を図1乃至図4に基づき説明する。(請求項1乃至請求項3に対応)
図1は本実施の形態に係る草刈機用保護カバーの外形図である。
図1において、草刈機用保護カバー1は半円状の後部保護カバー2と熊手状の前部保護カバー3から構成されている。後部保護カバー2は、草刈機の回転刃の略半周の上面と側面を覆うことが可能な縁を周設した半円状の半円盤4に、草刈機のシャフトに装着するための固定具5と、前部保護カバー3を装着するための後部取付孔6が端部の2ヶ所に各々2個ずつ設けられている。
【0016】固定具5は、上取付板7と下取付板8の間に草刈機のシャフトを挟み、図示していないがボルトを螺合してナットで固定するようになっている。また、下取付板8は台座9に枢設されており、ピン10を軸として角度が変更できるようになっている。ピン10を締め付けることによって、変更した角度は固定することができる。
固定具5はボルト止めによる取付けであるため、既存の草刈機への装着が容易に行える。さらに、下取付板8は角度が変更できるので、シャフトの取付角が異なる草刈機についての装着にも対応できる。
【0017】また、上取付板7と下取付板8には、内側にゴム等を設けると滑り防止となり、より強固にシャフトを固定できる。さらに、図示していないが、サイズ調整用取付板を上取付板7及び下取付板8の内側にはめ込むようにすると、シャフトの太さが異なっても装着することができる。なお、固定手段としてボルト以外にも蝶ねじ等を用いてもよい。
【0018】一方、前部保護カバー3では、半円状の基盤11に複数の縦型保護板12が草刈機の回転刃の略半周を覆うように熊手状に取付けられており、さらに、端部の2ヶ所には後部保護カバー2に装着するための前部取付孔13が各々2個ずつ設けられている。図示していないが、後部取付孔6と前部取付孔13はボルトとナットで連結されるので、容易に着脱することができ、後述の異なる形状を有する前部保護カバーと交換すると草刈り作業の用途に応じて使い分けることができる。なお、後部取付孔6についても同様であるが、前部取付孔13の個数は限定されるものではない。
また、前部保護カバー3を後部保護カバー2に着脱させない一体化した熊手状の保護カバー構造にしてもよく、この場合、草刈機への装着が簡便となる。
【0019】ここで、図2を用いて草刈機用保護カバーの作用について説明する。
図2(a)は本実施の形態に係る草刈機用保護カバーを草刈機に装着した場合の上面図であり、(b)は同じく草刈機用保護カバーを草刈機に装着した場合の側面図である。
図2(a)及び(b)において、草刈機用保護カバー1の後部保護カバー2は固定具5の上取付板7及び下取付板8が草刈機のシャフト14を把持し、4個のボルト15で固定されて草刈機に装着されている。そして、前部保護カバー3は前部取付孔13と後部取付孔6に各々2個ずつのボルト16が螺合されて後部保護カバー2に連結されている。また、複数の縦型保護板12の隙間からは回転刃17が見えるようになっている。
【0020】図2(a)及び(b)に示すように、草刈機用保護カバー1を草刈機に装着すると、後部保護カバー2はシャフト14側、すなわち作業者の足元側に位置するので、草刈り作業中に高速回転する回転刃17による作業者の足元の損傷や衣類等の巻き込みを防止し、回転刃17に弾かれる小石等の飛散を半円盤4の内側にくい止めるので、作業者は安全に作業を行うことができる。
【0021】一方、前部保護カバー3は後部保護カバー4に比較すると、作業者から離れた側に位置し、主に草を刈る側の回転刃17に覆設されるが、形状が熊手状であるのでその隙間から回転刃17及びその周辺を確認しながら作業を行うことができ、小石等が多い土壌での作業や回転刃17を損傷させる障害物等を早期に回避することが可能である。
また、前部保護カバー3の複数の縦型保護板12は小石等の真上方向以外の飛散に対しては抑制することができるので、周囲に対する高い安全性を確保できる。
さらに、各々の縦型保護板12は鉤状であり、平らな部分が基盤11に対して垂直に取付けられている。この前部保護カバー3は背丈の高い草を除去する場合に適しており、縦型保護板12間に広く設けられた隙間に容易に草や草の茎を導入することができ、縦型保護板12は草の支持板となり、草が折れ曲がったり逃げたりするのを防止し、回転刃17による切断を容易にし、その結果、作業効率を高めることができる。
【0022】また、草刈機用保護カバー1は、後部保護カバー2を設けずに前部保護カバー3のように熊手状の縦型保護板12を回転刃17の全周を覆うような円形カバーとし、この円形カバーに固定部5を設けてシャフト14への装着してもよい。この場合、後部保護カバー2と前部保護カバー3が着脱可能に設計されている場合に比べると、草刈機への装着が2段階から1段階になり、装着が簡便になるという利点がある。また、小石等の飛散防止はやや劣るものの、作業者は回転刃17及びその周辺を全周に亘って視認することができる。

図3において、前部保護カバー3は、基盤11に熊手状に複数の横型保護板18が取付けられており、基盤11の端部には前部取付孔13が各々2個ずつ設けられている。
前部保護カバー3は前部取付孔13を用いて後部保護カバーに連結すると草刈機用保護カバーとなる。この草刈機用保護カバーを草刈機に装着すると、前部保護カバー3の熊手状に設けられた複数の横型保護板18の隙間からは草刈機の回転刃及び回転刃周辺を見ることができるので作業を確認しながら行うことができる。
【0024】また、各々が鉤状の横型保護板18は、その平面となる部分が基盤11に平行に設置されており、回転刃を覆う面積が広いのでより多くの小石等の飛散をくい止めることができる。なお、横型保護板18が設けられた前部保護カバー3は横型保護板の間隙が小さいため、背丈の低い草あるいは茎の細い草を除去する場合に適している。
従って、図1に示した縦型保護板と横型保護板による前部保護カバーを用意しておけば、着脱可能であるため草刈作業の対象となる草の種類や状態に応じて、選択が可能であり、作業効率を自在に向上させることができる。

図4(a)は本実施の形態に係る草刈機用保護カバーを取付角が大きいシャフトに装着した場合の側面図であり、(b)は同じく草刈機用保護カバーを取付角が小さいシャフトに装着した場合の側面図である。
図4(a)及び(b)において、固定具5には角度調整ジョイント19が設けられている。この角度調整ジョイント19は、下取付板8側のピン20と台座9側のピン21によって枢設されているので、ピン20及びピン21を各々軸として角度が幅広く変更できるようになっている。したがって、図4(a)のようにシャフト取付角θが大きい草刈機や、図4(b)のようにシャフト取付角θが小さい草刈機に装着することができる。
なお、上述のように角度調整ジョイント19を設置しない場合でも後部保護カバー2はシャフト取付角θが異なる草刈機への装着は可能であるが、角度調整ジョイント19を設けることにより、さらに幅広いシャフト取付角θに対応することができるのである。
【0026】このように構成された草刈機用保護カバー1では、草刈り作業時において、後部保護カバー2は回転刃から作業者の足元を保護し、回転刃に弾かれる小石等の飛散を防止することができる。また、前部保護カバー3は、回転刃による小石等の飛散を防止し、熊手状に設けられる縦型保護板12又は横型保護板18によって、回転刃17とその周辺における視認性が良好となり、危険な土壌等での作業において事故を未然に回避することができる。
また、前部保護カバー3は後部保護カバー2に着脱可能であるので、縦型保護板12が設けられた前部保護カバー3又は横型保護板18が設けられた前部保護カバー3を選定、交換することにより、草丈に合わせて効率的な作業を行うことができる。
そして、後部保護カバー2は固定具5によって草刈機へ容易に装着することができる上に、固定具5がシャフトの取付角に対して角度調整可能に設計されているので多機種の草刈機に対応できる。

図5において、草刈機22は、草刈機用保護カバー1が回転刃17を覆って固定具5によってシャフト14に装着されている。シャフト14の上方にはハンドル23が設置され、端部には回転刃17を回転させるためのモータ24が接続されている。
作業者は、図示していないがストラップ等によって草刈機22を肩から吊り下げて、ハンドル23を握り、モータ24を作動させて回転刃17の回転により草刈り作業を行うが、草刈機用保護カバー1が装着されているので、後部保護カバー2によって回転刃による損傷や小石等の飛散から作業者を保護し、前部保護カバー3によって周囲への小石等の飛散が防止される。また、前部保護カバー3によって作業者は視認性が確保されるので安全に作業を進めることができる。さらに、前部保護カバー3を着脱可能に設けた場合には、刈る対象の草の種類や状態によって選択可能であり、作業効率を向上させ得るバリエーションを供することができる。
