Abstract
Description
【0001】
m=(A1−A2)/A1・・・・・(2)
γ=(dm/dPw)/(m/Pw)・・・・・(3)

【0025】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an optical disc recording method for recording information on an optical disc such as a CD-R, a CD-RW, a DVD-R, a DVD-RW, a DVD + R, and a DVD + RW. It relates to OPC (Optimum Power Control) for determining laser power.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, in an optical disc apparatus that records and reproduces data on an optical disc on which data can be recorded, such as a write-once CD-R or CD-RW, every time data is recorded on the optical disc, a recording area of the optical disc is reduced. The data is recorded in the section, and the optimum recording power value of the laser beam irradiated from the optical pickup at the time of data recording is obtained based on a reproduction signal obtained by reproducing the recorded portion.
The reason why the optimum recording power value at the time of data recording is determined for each optical disk is that the optimum recording power value of the optical disk differs for each manufacturer and also depends on the characteristics of the optical pickup that irradiates the laser beam. is there. Therefore, it is necessary to find the optimum recording power value of the laser beam at the time of data recording for each optical disc.
[0003]
In order to perform recording with the optimum recording laser power by correcting the characteristics of the medium, the characteristics of the laser diode (LD), the fluctuation of the optical power, and the like, the optimal power control (OPC) is executed, and the medium is controlled in advance. To find the optimum laser power. The OPC uses a power calculation area (Power Calibration Area; PCA) at the innermost circumference of the recording area of the optical disc to perform a test by gradually changing the power of the recording LD at a predetermined recording speed (linear velocity). Performs test writing of data, evaluates a recording state index value of a reproduction signal when reproducing the test data, and determines a recording power at which the best recording state index value is obtained as an optimum recording power at the recording speed. This is a power control method (for example, see Patent Document 1).
[0004]
The OPC records data at different recording power values in a plurality of sectors of a PCA provided in a recording area of an optical disc, and reproduces each sector to reproduce a peak value (P) and a bottom value (P) of a reproduced signal. This method is known as an optical disk recording method in which a recording state index value (for example, a Beta value in a CD-R) is determined for each sector based on B), and an optimum recording power value is determined based on each recording state index value. (For example, see Patent Document 2).
The recording state index value is indicated by the Beta method for a CD-R, and is indicated by the Gamma method or the Modulation method for a CD-RW.
For example, in the Beta method for CD-R, when the peak value of the recorded RF signal is A1 and the bottom value is A2, Beta represented by the following equation (1) is used as the recording state index value.
Beta (%) = (A1 + A2) / (A1-A2) (1)
The power when the Beta value is targeted is the optimum recording power.
In the Modulation method for CD-RW, when the peak value of the recorded RF signal is A1 and the bottom value is A2, m represented by the following equation (2) is used as the recording state index value.
m = (A1-A2) / A1 (2)
The power when the value indicated by m is targeted is the optimum recording power.
Further, in the Gamma method in CD-RW, when the peak value of the recorded RF signal is A1 and the bottom value is A2, γ represented by the following equation (3) is used as the recording state index value.
γ = (dm / dPw) / (m / Pw) (3)
Here, m = (A1−A2) / A1, and dm and dPw indicate the difference between the adjacent m value and the power value when the power is changed stepwise.
The power when this γ value is targeted is the optimum recording power.
[0005]
The PCA is further divided into a test area and a count area, each of which is divided into 100 partitions. One partition of the test area is composed of 15 sectors, and one partition (that is, 15 sectors) is used in one trial writing. In the Orange Book Part II, which is the standard for write-once optical discs, test writing is performed with 15 levels of laser power in 15 sectors, and the laser power with the best recording state is selected. A method of recording information and forming pits on an optical disk is described, which is a technical standard for optical disk recording.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In an ordinary optical disk drive, there are factors that cause the Beta value to fluctuate due to mechanical variations such as eccentricity of the rotating shaft and surface runout of the disk surface, and horizontal and vertical focusing characteristics of the pickup. However, as long as it is a mechanical part, this variation factor is inevitable. Since the optimum recording power calculated from the Beta value including this fluctuation is a value deviated from the true optimum value, the conventional OPC causes deterioration of recording characteristics and occurrence of a reading error after recording.
[0008]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION An object of the present invention is to solve the above-described problems. Even when there are mechanical fluctuation characteristics of a disc and rolling characteristics of a pickup, accurate recording characteristics are stably ensured and no error occurs. It is an object of the present invention to provide a recording method for an optical disc that can be recorded or reproduced.
[0009]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above problems, an optical disk recording method according to the present invention is a method for recording or reproducing information by irradiating an information recording medium with a laser beam, wherein an optimum recording laser power of the laser beam is determined. For this purpose, a recording method for an optical disc is provided in which test data is obtained from the optical disc by using a laser power of a constant intensity, and then test data is obtained by using a laser power whose intensity changes stepwise.
Further, in the optical disc recording method of the present invention, a deviation is calculated from the test data obtained using the laser power having the constant intensity, and the deviation is calculated using the laser power whose intensity changes stepwise using the deviation. An optical disk recording method in which test data is corrected to determine an optimum recording laser power is employed.
Further, in the recording method of the optical disk of the present invention, the starting sector for performing recording and sampling of test data by using the laser power of the constant intensity, and the recording and sampling of test data by using the laser power whose intensity changes stepwise. The recording method of the optical disk in which the starting sector to be performed is shifted by approximately one rotation is adopted.
[0010]
According to the recording method of the optical disk of the present invention, even if there is mechanical fluctuation of the disk or rolling of the pickup, stable recording characteristics for always calculating the optimum recording laser power for each recording are ensured, so that error-free recording can be performed. It is possible to do.
[0011]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Here, taking a CD-R disc as an example, FIG. 1 shows the relationship between the recording laser power of the optical disc and the Beta value. The optimum recording power value of the optical disc differs for each manufacturer, and also differs depending on the characteristics of the optical pickup that irradiates the laser beam. There is an optimum recording laser power (Pw; mW) for the recording state index value (Beta value;%) depending on the combination of the optical disk and the optical pickup. If the relationship between the Beta value and the optimum recording laser power (Pw) is linear, stable recording and reproduction can always be performed. However, the relationship between the Beta value and the optimum recording laser power (Pw) changes from optical disk to optical disk due to the above-mentioned fluctuation factor of the Beta value. FIG. 2 is a diagram illustrating how the Beta value fluctuates. As shown in the figure, if the relationship between the Beta value and Pw has a linear relationship like the straight line L in FIG. 2, the optimum recording laser power (Pw) for a certain Beta value (B) always corresponds one-to-one. P 0, and the recording apparatus is set Given this ideal relationship.
In reality the relationship between Beta value and the optimum recording laser power (Pw) is varied as indicated by a curve C 1 and curve C 2 in FIG. 2, the optimum recording laser power for a Beta value (B) (Pw) the deviation occurs between the P 1 and P 2, and the optimum value P 0 on the device. That is, one is that a plurality of optimum recording laser powers exist for the Beta value, and the optimum value is not determined. Such a phenomenon results in unstable reproduction even though the recording operation is possible.
Therefore, in the present invention, an attempt was made to make the relationship between the Beta value and the optimum recording laser power (Pw) closer to a linear relationship.

FIG. 4 is a diagram showing a conventional relationship between a sector and power. As shown in the figure, in the conventional OPC method, recording was performed by changing the recording laser power stepwise (decreased in FIG. 4) between 15 sectors.
On the other hand, in the method of the present invention, first, test data is obtained by using laser power of a constant intensity in 15 sectors, and then test data is obtained by using laser power whose intensity is changed stepwise. . FIG. 5 is a diagram showing the relationship between sectors and power according to the present invention. As shown in FIG. 5, in the OPC system of the present invention, the first 10 sectors from
Here, the recording speed is set so that 10 sectors correspond to one rotation of the disk, and the
In other words, by arranging the sectors in this way, the starting sector for recording and sampling test data using a laser power of a constant intensity, and the recording and test data using the laser power whose intensity changes stepwise are used. The starting sector from which the sampling is to be performed is shifted by about one rotation.

FIG. 6 is a plot of Beta values of each sector calculated from data recorded with such recording laser power. FIG. 6 is a diagram showing the relationship between the sector before correction and the Beta value. From the graph shown in FIG. 6, it can be seen that the Beta value fluctuates in ten sectors from

[0016]
Therefore, in the method of the present invention, a correction method for canceling the variation is adopted. Next, the correction method will be described.
8A and 8B are diagrams for explaining a method of correcting the Beta value, in which FIG. 8A is a plot of the Beta value of each sector in the laser power constant region, and FIG. 8B is a diagram in which the laser power is changed stepwise. The plot is a plot of the Beta value of each sector in the region indicated with respect to the output of the recording laser power. Here, an example is shown in which the recording laser power is increased stepwise by 1 mW.
The curve in FIG. 8A has an average value of 11%, a maximum value of 14%, and a minimum value of 8%. Here, the Beta value of

Next, in the sector in which the output Pw of the recording laser power is changed stepwise, the output Pw of the recording laser power of each sector is plotted on the horizontal axis, and the Beta value is plotted on the vertical axis. When the Beta values are plotted for the four sectors, a curve like a thin line in FIG. 8B is obtained. This curve is a plot of the recorded data as it is, and includes a variation factor. When this curve is simply approximated and displayed as a straight line, the curve becomes linear as indicated by the broken line.
Based on the recorded data, a correction is made to cancel the above-mentioned fluctuation factor. That is, by taking up

When the Beta value graphs shown in FIGS. 6 and 7 are rewritten by taking the above-described correction means, the graphs become as shown in FIGS. 9 and 10, respectively. FIG. 9 is a diagram showing the relationship between the corrected sector and the Beta value, and FIG. 10 is a diagram showing the relationship between the corrected power and the Beta value.
As shown in FIG. 9, since the output of the recording laser power is the same in the first 10 sectors from
FIG. 10 is a plot obtained by plotting the output Pw of the recording laser power of each sector on the horizontal axis and the Beta value on the vertical axis. As shown in the figure, the relationship between the output Pw of the recording laser power and the Beta value has a linear relationship, and one Beta value corresponds to one output of the recording laser power. The relationship does not include any variables. Therefore, thereafter, if recording is performed using this linear relationship, recording can be performed with an optimum laser power output, and a stable recording operation can be ensured.
[0022]
As described above, in the present embodiment, 15 sectors of the PCA are divided into two, the recording laser power is kept constant in the first 10 sectors, and the fluctuation of the Beta value is measured. The optimum relationship between the recording laser power and the Beta value was set by changing the value.
Here, the recording laser power output used in the first ten sectors can use an arbitrary value. The same output may be used in ten sectors. The recording laser power output used in the following five sectors may be any output as long as it is changed stepwise. The method of changing in a stepwise manner may be ascending or descending. Also, the width of the output to be raised and lowered can be set to an arbitrary width.
[0023]
In the PCA, the standard is to determine the optimum recording power of the laser beam using 15 sectors, but there is no particular limitation on how to use the 15 sectors. Therefore, in the present invention, the fluctuation of the Beta value is measured first, and then the optimum relationship between the recording laser power and the Beta value is determined. In this manner, by setting the optimum relationship between the recording laser power and the Beta value in accordance with the combination of the recording medium and the recording apparatus, it is possible to always perform recording with a constant quality. There is no particular limitation on the allocation of the 15 sectors, but since the disk is rotating, first, an area for measuring the fluctuation of the Beta value corresponding to the recording time for one rotation is provided, and then the area having the same phase is used. An optimum relationship between the recording laser power and the Beta value may be set. As an example, a method of dividing 15 sectors into 10 sectors and 5 sectors has been described.
[0024]
In the present embodiment, an example of a CD-R disc using a Beta value as a recording state index value has been described. The present invention is also applicable to write-once optical disks such as CD-RW, DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD + R, and DVD + RW.
[0025]
【The invention's effect】
According to the present invention, a stable recording characteristic can be ensured even when there is a mechanical fluctuation characteristic of the disk, and a recording operation without error can be provided.
