従来、印刷装置に用紙節約機能を有していても利用者がプリンタドライバ上で何も設定せずデフォルト状態で印刷実行すると、何ら用紙節約の機能が働かず、片面等倍の通常のモードで複数ページの印刷が行われていた。

印刷装置に用紙節約機能を有していたとしても、特別通常の片面等倍の印刷物が必要でないような試し印刷でも、利用者が何気なくプリンタドライバの設定をデフォルトで印刷実行すると、片面等倍で印刷されて用紙が無駄になるという問題があった。

印刷装置に用紙節約機能を有している時に複数ページの印刷を利用者がプリンタドライバの設定をデフォルトで印刷実行した場合に、用紙節約を促すメッセージを表示する。そのメッセージには用紙節約すれば何枚節約できるかを、印刷装置の有する用紙節約機能を判断しそれに応じて計算して表示する。そこで「用紙節約して印刷」するかしないかを利用者に選択させる。

【発明の実施の形態】
（第一の実施例）
第一の実施例は、印刷枚数が複数枚数で、印刷装置に用紙節約機能を有していて、用紙節約の設定をせず印刷しようとしている場合に、プリンタドライバが利用者に用紙節約を促す指示をする操作画面からの実施例である。
