Description
【0001】

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a combination seal member, and more particularly, to an improvement in a seal ring used for a bearing portion of a pump shaft in a water pump for an engine and a manufacturing method thereof.
[0002]
[Prior art]
[0003]
In the rolling bearing of the above structure, the shaft is an inner member (inner ring), the housing is an outer member (outer ring), and a rolling element is interposed between the shaft and the housing. Therefore, the outer diameter surface of the shaft and the inner diameter surface of the housing are the rolling surfaces of the rolling elements. As a seal member of this rolling bearing, a combination seal consisting of a combination of a metal (mainly stainless steel) slinger fitted on the shaft and a seal lip fitted in a housing supporting the shaft and slidingly in contact with the slinger. A ring is adopted. Since such a combination seal ring has a high sealing effect and can be provided at low cost, it has recently been widely used as a seal member for a bearing portion in a water pump.

[Patent Document 1]
Japanese Utility Model Publication No. 60-167194 [0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The combined seal ring as described above is very useful for water pumps, but the following problems have been pointed out. In other words, since the impeller rotational speed in this type of water pump is extremely high at 10,000 RPM, a sliding contact noise is generated at the sliding contact portion between the slinger and the seal lip. This sliding contact sound is due to the frictional torque of the sliding contact portion and cannot be ignored as a so-called squeal. In particular, in the water pump for automobiles, some drastic measures have been required for the noise countermeasure.
[0006]
The present invention has been made in view of the above problems, and provides a novel combination seal member that maintains the above sealing function and suppresses the generation of squeal noise, and that is preferably employed in a bearing portion of a water pump, and a method for manufacturing the same. To do.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to solve the above-mentioned problem, the combination seal member according to the invention of
[0008]
In the combination seal member having such a configuration, the sliding contact surface of the slinger with the seal lip is an uneven surface provided with a large number of micro dimples, so that the friction coefficient in sliding contact with the seal lip is small. Therefore, the friction torque is small and the generation of the squeal is suppressed. In addition, an additional effect of suppressing heat generation can be obtained by reducing the friction coefficient.
[0009]
The slinger is made of stainless steel, and the micro rigid particles are steel spheres having a diameter of 40 to 200 μm, and the uneven surface is obtained by causing the steel spheres to be injected and collided at an injection speed of 100 m / sec or more. (Claim 3) Accordingly, a large number of micro dimples formed on the surface of the stainless steel slinger are effective in reducing the friction coefficient, and the generation of squealing is suppressed while the sealing performance is maintained. .
[0010]
In addition, it is desirable that the surface of the sealing lip that is in contact with the slinger is formed with a concavo-convex surface by micro-dimples similar to the above (Claim 4). That is, by forming small protrusions on the mold core surface at the time of molding, the same unevenness is formed on the seal lip. When the uneven surface is formed on the seal lip in this way, the above-described squeal noise suppression effect becomes more effective due to the synergistic action with the uneven surface formed on the slinger.
[0011]
The slinger is externally fitted to the impeller side shaft of the bearing portion of the water pump, and the seal having the seal lip is fitted to the outer ring side bearing portion, and the combination of the slinger and the seal lip seals the bearing portion of the water pump. If the ring is constructed (Claim 5), and if this water pump is a water pump for an engine (Claim 6), it is extremely effective for the soundproofing of this type of water pump with extremely high impeller rotational speed. It is.
[0012]
The invention according to
[0013]
In this way, it is possible to form an uneven surface effective for suppressing the generation of squealing by a simple method, and it is possible to manufacture a useful combination seal member as described above without increasing the number of steps and the manufacturing cost. . The fine rigid particles employed here are steel spheres having a diameter of 40 to 200 μm, as described above, and it is desirable that they be injected and collided at an injection speed of 100 m / sec or more.

[0024]
(Experimental example)
A slinger was formed of SUS304, and the sliding contact surface of the slinger with the seal lip was subjected to the above micro-dimple processing to prepare 10 seal ring samples to be combined with the seal lip formed by H-NBR. Separately, 10 comparative samples not subjected to the above-described micro dimple processing were prepared. These samples were mounted on a bearing portion of a water pump for automobile engines, the pump was operated with an impeller rotating speed of 10,000 RPM, and the presence or absence of squealing at that time was observed. Further, the friction coefficient of the sliding contact surface of each sample was measured.
[0025]
(Result): The friction coefficient of the sliding surface of the micro dimple processed sample was 1.0, while the friction coefficient of the sliding surface of the untreated sample was 1.4. In addition, none of the former produced squealing noise, but the latter was observed to squeal.
[0026]
【The invention's effect】
According to the combination seal member of the present invention, since the sliding surface of the slinger with the seal lip is an uneven surface having a large number of micro dimples, the friction coefficient when sliding with the seal lip is reduced. Therefore, the friction torque is small and the generation of the squeal is suppressed. In addition, an additional effect of suppressing heat generation can be obtained by reducing the friction coefficient. If such characteristics are applied to a water pump for an engine, particularly a water pump for an automobile engine, it is extremely useful for noise countermeasures, and its practical value is great (

Further, according to the manufacturing method of the combination seal member according to the invention of
