PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide safety open and close buttons for an elevator capable of being easily used even by an aged person and a handicapped person, and preventing the injury caused by wrong operation by improving the safety and clarity of "OPEN" and "CLOSE" buttons of the elevator, as a person getting into the elevator is sometimes caught by doors, when the "CLOSE" button is pushed by mistake for the "OPEN" button when the elevator is used.
SOLUTION: The "CLOSE" button is made larger than the "OPEN" button, and has a striking color to provide the operation button appealing to eye, as the "CLOSE" button has high risk of catching the person getting into the elevator.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI

Description

When using an elevator at a hospital or the like, it is often the case that a person who intends to press "open" presses "close" and is likely to pinch a person who has boarded. At the moment, the kanji for "open" and "closed" are similar, so they are often mistaken. There is no danger if you intend to press “close” and press “open”, but if you press “close” while you intend to press “open”, there is a very high risk of injury. Especially when used by the elderly and the disabled, it becomes a problem, but safety and clarity are what the times demand. In other words, it is considered that the “open” button has priority and should be more conspicuous.
Also, recently, "open" and "closed" are sometimes displayed using pictures and figures in addition to kanji, making it difficult for elderly people, not to mention, to understand. Most foreigners will not know the kanji, and even if they are open or closed, they will be at a loss in a short time.
Therefore, the size of the button is larger for "open" than for "closed" to make a difference. As shown in the attached drawing example, if the diameter is circular, the difference is made to the point where the discrimination can be made instantaneously (FIG. 1). If the shape is quadrangle, the difference between both the length and width is given instead of making the width longer (FIG. 2). In addition, it is more preferable that "open" be a conspicuous color such as red. This allows anyone to instantly know which button is important. In an instant, the visually appealing display of the "large red button" is easier to judge reflectively than the meaning of the kanji, etc., and if "open" = generally penetrates with a large button, the image will be established It is thought that the number of mistakes is reduced, and the risk is reduced. In other words, whether it is “open” or “closed,” the pattern of first looking at two buttons and thinking about their meaning, and then taking an action takes time and mistakes. You will be able to determine the "open" button that should be prioritized in an instant.
