図1〜3は、本発明に係る構成を有する反射型液晶表示装置を示す図で、図1は断面図、図2は筐体部分と基台部分が分離した状態を示す斜視図、図3は偏光ビームスプリッタ(PBS)を筐体に組み込む方法を示す図である。以下、図1〜3を参照し、本発明に係る構成を有する反射型液晶表示装置について説明する。回路基板1の上面に反射型液晶表示パネル2が搭載されており、それを囲むように基台3が接着固定されている。基台3には、フック4が複数設けられており、それが筐体5に設けられた係合部6にそれぞれ係合する事により、基台3に筐体5が位置決め固定されている。筐体5の一端には、光源であるLED7が設けられており、回路基板1と電気的接続がなされている。前記LED7の光の出射方向にはテーパ形状を有する導光部8が筐体5にインサート成形されていると共に、該導光部8の、LED7と対向する側の一端には、拡散板9と偏光板10が同じくインサート成型されている。更に、筐体5の反射型液晶表示パネル2と対向する位置には、反射型液晶表示パネル2を覆うようにPBS11が嵌め込み固定されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
以上説明したように、前記本発明に係る構成を有する反射型液晶表示装置においては、拡散板9、偏光板10、及びPBS11等の各構成部材が筐体5内部に組み込まれる構成となっている。特に、PBS11は、筐体5に固定する際、図3に示すように、筐体5に設けられた挿入口12を通して図中矢印の方向に挿入される。そのため、筐体5とPBS11が擦れ、PBS11表面に傷が付いてしまう事があった。傷が付いたPBS11は、使用不可能になってしまう。筐体5の構造上、PBS11に傷を付ける事無く組み込む事は、非常に困難である。また、拡散板9、偏光板10、及び導光部8は、筐体5にインサート成型されているため、着脱不可能である。例え、着脱可能であったとしても、筐体5内部に組み込まれているため、着脱に多くの労力を要する事となる。

本発明は、上記問題点に鑑みてなされたものであり、PBSを初めとする各構成部材を容易に着脱可能な反射型液晶表示装置を提供する事を目的とする。

図4〜6は、本発明の一実施形態を示す図で、図4は断面図、図5は筐体部分と基台部分が分離した状態を示す斜視図、図6は筐体部分の分解斜視図である。以下、図4〜6を参照し、本発明の一実施形態について説明する。特徴としては、前記筐体5の上部を着脱可能なカバー13として形成した事である。まず、回路基板1の上面に反射型液晶表示パネル2が搭載されており、それを囲むように基台3が設けられている。基台3には、フック4が複数設けられており、それが筐体14に設けられた係合部6にそれぞれ係合する事により、基台3に筐体14が位置決め固定されている。尚、ここまでの基本的な構成は、前記本発明に係る構成を有する反射型液晶表示装置と同様である。

筐体14内部には、偏光ユニット15が組み込まれており、着脱可能となっている。この偏光ユニット15は、偏光板16、及び2枚の拡散板17a、17bを導光部材18とその対向部材19で挟持したものであり、各構成部材は、接着されておらず分解可能となっている。更に、導光部材18の一端にはLED7が嵌め込み固定される。

筐体14の反射型液晶表示パネル2と対向する位置には、反射型液晶表示パネル2を覆うようにPBS11がカバー13により上方から押圧固定されている。前記カバー13は、前記本発明に係る構成を有する反射型液晶表示装置の筐体5上部を着脱可能な部材として形成したもので、筐体14に取付ける際には、まず、PBS11と偏光ユニット15を筐体14に組み込み、その後、前記カバー13を筐体14上部から被せる。カバー13側面には、切り抜き部20が複数設けられており、それが筐体14側面に設けられたフック21と係合する事により、カバー13が筐体14を覆うように位置決め固定される。即ち、カバー13は、PBS11、及び偏光ユニット15を上方から押圧固定する役割を果たしている。

尚、本実施形態においては、カバー13が筐体14全体を覆う構成としたが、十分な強度や筐体14内部の各構成部材(PBS11、偏光ユニット15等)に対する十分な保持力が得られるのであれば、どのような形状でも構わず限定は無い。また、必ずしも偏光ユニット15のような構成を用いる必要が無いことは言うまでもない。

【発明の効果】
以上説明したように、本発明によれば、PBSを傷を付ける事無く筐体に組み込む事が出来るだけでなく、カバー、拡散板、偏光板、及びPBSの各構成部材が筐体に接着固定されておらず、着脱可能となっているため、PBSに傷が付いたり、ゴミ等が付着した場合であっても、容易に取り外して交換、若しくはゴミ等の除去を行う事が出来る。更に、拡散板と偏光板が交換可能となるため、組み立てた後であっても、拡散板や偏光板を適宜選択する事により、反射型液晶表示パネルに入射される光量の調節が出来る。
