コールセンタなどにおけるコンピュータ・テレフォニーシステムでは、公衆回線を介しての通話処理を実行するための通話端末と、インターネット・ウェブサーバやE−mailサーバを利用した顧客からのアクセスへの対応や情報検索のためにオペレータが操作可能な情報処理端末とを備える構成となっている。
このようなコールセンターにおいて、オペレータが通話相手との通話処理を実行中に情報処理端末を用いてなんらかの処理を実行している場合には、オペレータ自身が通話端末を用いて操作内容を通知する必要があり、たとえば、「ただいま、検索中です」などの言葉を実際に発する必要がある。
