Description

【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image forming apparatus having a separation claw that is detachably disposed on a surface of a rotating body for separating a transfer material from a surface of a rotating body including an image carrier or a fixing roller and a pressure roller.
[0002]
[Prior art]
2. Description of the Related Art Conventionally, in an image forming apparatus, a rotating member including an image carrier, a fixing roller, and a pressure roller is provided with a separating claw for separating a transfer material from the rotating member. And was always in contact with the rotating body. However, if the separation claw is kept in contact, the sharp portion of the tip of the separation claw damages the surface of the rotating body, causing a problem of image failure due to abrasion on the rotating body surface. Another problem is that the life of the image carrier and the fixing roller is shortened.
[0003]
In order to solve such a problem, for example, Patent Document 1 discloses the following technology. A cam coupled to the claw holding member of the separation claw has a drive source that can rotate forward and backward, and when the drive source rotates in a predetermined direction, the cam member changes the separation claw contact position on the surface of the rotating body to swing the separation claw. Move. After the image forming operation is completed, the driving source is rotated in the reverse direction to the normal operation, and the time or the number of times that the separation claw is executed while the separation claw is stopped at each position within the moving range on the rotating body is the same, thereby damaging the rotating body. Evenly replace the rotating body and delay the replacement time.
[0004]

JP-A-4-324470
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The above-mentioned Patent Document 1 discloses a technique of disposing a separation claw contact position changing mechanism and dispersing damage to the rotating body due to the contact. However, it is disclosed that the separation claw is always in contact with the rotating body. Does not change, and always damages the rotating body surface.
[0006]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the present invention to provide an image forming apparatus which can surely separate a transfer material from a rotating body, minimize damage to the surface of the rotating body, and extend the life.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the invention according to claim 1 is a method of separating a transfer material from a surface of a rotating body including an image carrier or a fixing roller and a pressure roller of a fixing device, in order to separate the transfer material from the surface of the rotating body. The most main feature of an image forming apparatus having a separation claw arranged so as to be capable of being provided with a separation claw contact / separation mechanism for keeping the tip of the separation claw in a non-contact state with the surface of the rotating body except during image formation. I do.
[0008]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, there is provided the image forming apparatus according to the first aspect, further comprising a transfer material leading end position detecting means for detecting a transfer material leading end position on the upstream side of the rotating body. The main feature of the image forming apparatus is that the separation claw is brought into contact with the rotating body immediately before reaching the claw position.
[0009]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described with reference to the drawings.
FIGS. 1 to 3 are timing charts showing separation claw contact / separation timings when the present invention is applied to a fixing device. The fixing device 1 includes a fixing roller (rotating body) 2 and a pressure roller (rotating body) 3, and has a separation claw 4 near the surface of the fixing roller 2. The separation claw 4 can be freely connected to and separated from the surface of the fixing roller 2 by a solenoid (separation claw contact / separation mechanism) 5. Further, a sensor (transfer-material-end-position detecting means) 6 for detecting the front end of the transfer material P is disposed upstream of the fixing device 1.
[0010]
Next, the operation of contacting and separating the separation claw 4 will be described. Normally, the separation claw 4 is in a state separated from the fixing roller 2 (FIG. 1). After the sensor 6 detects the leading end position of the transfer material P, the time and timing at which the transfer material P moves to the position of the separation claw 4 are calculated by a CPU (not shown) to control the contact / separation timing of the separation claw 4. I do.
[0011]
Immediately before the transfer material P stuck to the fixing roller 2 comes to the position of the separation claw 4 (for example, the transfer material front end position −10 mm), the solenoid 5 is turned on to bring the front end of the separation claw 4 into contact with the fixing roller 2 (FIG. 2). . Then, when the leading end of the transfer material P hangs on the separation claw 4 by a predetermined amount (for example, about 10 mm from the leading end of the transfer material), the solenoid 5 is turned off and the tip of the separation claw 4 is separated from the fixing roller 2 (FIG. 3).
[0012]
The contact time of the separation claw 4 is controllable and can be changed according to the type of transfer material P and image information. In addition to the fixing roller 2, a pressure roller 3 or an image carrier may be used as the rotating body.
[0013]
【The invention's effect】
The present invention has a separating claw arranged so as to be in contact with or separated from the surface of the rotating body in order to separate the transfer material from the surface of the rotating body. The tip of the claw is not in contact with the surface of the rotating body, and during image formation, the tip of the separating claw is brought into contact with the surface of the rotating body in accordance with the leading end position of the transfer material detected by the transfer material leading end position detecting means, and the leading end of the transfer material is contacted. After the separation claw is separated from the surface of the rotating body, the separation claw is separated from the surface of the rotating body by a contact / separation mechanism, so that the contact time between the separation claw and the rotating body can be reduced to a minimum. Therefore, the intended purpose can be achieved.
