図1ないし図3は本発明を定着装置に適用した場合の分離爪接離タイミングを示す図である。定着装置1は、定着ローラ(回転体)2と加圧ローラ(回転体)3を備え、定着ローラ2の表面近傍には分離爪4を有している。分離爪4は、ソレノイド(分離爪接離機構)5により定着ローラ2の表面に接離自在となっている。また定着装置1の上流側には、転写材Pの先端を検出するセンサ(転写材先端位置検出手段)6が配置されている。
