【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、量子相関を必要とする光通信・情報処理分野(量子コンピュータの入力装置、量子暗号等)、及び、量子干渉を利用とする光応用計測分野等で必要となる量子相関光子対発生装置に関し、特に、偏光に基づく量子相関を持つ光子対の発生装置に関する。

【従来技術】
偏光に基づく量子相関光子対の発生は、タイプ2位相整合条件を満たす二次非線形結晶によるパラメトリック変換技術により実現された(例えば、非特許文献1参照)。
尚、タイプ2位相整合条件では、光子対を構成する2個の光子の偏光が互いに直交する。一方、タイプ1位相整合条件では、光子対を構成する2個の光子の偏光が互いに同一になる。
非特許文献1では、励起光を結晶光軸(Crystal optic axis)に対しKpumpと表されている方向に入射すると、1個の結晶から、図4(a)に示すように空間をコーン状に拡がる光子対の放射パターンを得る。
図4は非特許文献1記載の量子相関光子対発生装置の構成図および量子相関光子対の放射パターン説明図である。図4(a)は非特許文献1記載の量子相関光子対発生装置である。図4(b)は非特許文献1記載の量子相関光子対の放射パターンである。
便宜上、光子対の一方を光子1[同図では、extraordinaryと記載]、他方を光子2[ordinary]と表す。

タイプ2位相整合条件では、偏光が直交する。量子相関は、図4(b)に示すコーン断面状の両円の交点(図4(a)では、Entangled−stateemission directionsと表されている)で実現される。交点の左右を任意に点1、点2とすれば、点1で水平偏光なら、点2で垂直偏光の光子が観測され、逆に点1で垂直偏光なら、点2で水平偏光の光子が観測される。但し、両者の観測率は等しい。これを数式で記述すると式(1)となる。

但し、←は水平、・は垂直偏光、添字は交点を示す。右辺第2項の符号は、結晶の角度に依存する。但し、コーン状に拡がる放射パターンは、実験的に取り扱いが難しく、直線ビーム状の光子対を発生させることが望ましい。

非特許文献2では、タイプ1位相整合を利用する。図5に示すように2個の二次非線形結晶を縦列配置する。図5は非特許文献2記載の量子相関光子対発生方法の説明図である。各結晶から発生する光子対はコーン状に拡がるが、結晶を薄くすることで、両者は重なる。便宜上、結晶の片方を#1、他方を#2とする。
このとき、#1から発生する光子対の偏光が水平(同図では、H−polarizedと記載)、#2では垂直(V−polarized)となるように各結晶を配置する。コーン断面上で円の中心を通る直線が円周と交差する点1、点2に対して、点1で水平偏光なら、点2でも水平偏光の光子が観測され、逆に点1で垂直偏光なら、点2でも垂直偏光の光子が観測される。但し、両者の確率は等しい。これを、数式で記述すると式(2)になる。

式(2)の右辺第2項の符号は、結晶の角度に依存する。前述の通り、コーン状に拡がる放射パターンは、非特許文献1同様に、実験的に取り扱いが難しい。

非特許文献3では、図6に示すように、2個の二次非線形結晶(以下、「OPA1」、「OPA2」と記載する)と偏光ビームスプリッタ(以下、「PBS」と記載する)を配置して、直線ビーム状の光子対を発生させる。図6は非特許文献3記載の量子相関光子対発生装置の構成図である。偏光ビームスプリッタは水平偏光を透過、垂直偏光を反射させる。各結晶は、共に、タイプ2位相整合条件を満たすため、光子対を構成する2個の光子S1↑とI1・の偏光が互いに直交する。但し、「↑」は水平、「・」は垂直偏光を示す。S2・とI2←の偏光も互いに直交する。但し、「・」は垂直偏光、「←」は水平偏光を示す。図中のIdler Outputで垂直偏光の光子(I1・)が観測されれば、Signal Outputでは水平偏光の光子(S1↑)が観測される。また、Idler Outputで水平偏光の光子(I2←)が観測されれば、SignalOutputでは垂直偏光の光子(S2・)が観測される。各結晶から偏光ビームスプリッタ(PBS)までの距離を調整することで、式(1)の状態を実現できる。直線ビーム状の光子対は取り扱いが容易であるが、タイプ1位相整合条件とタイプ2位相整合条件の選択は結晶の種類や光子対の波長で制限される。

更に、非特許文献3では、タイプ1位相整合条件を満たす2個の二次非線形結晶(OPA1、OPA2と記載)を図7のように配置した。図7は非特許文献3記載の他の量子相関光子対発生装置の構成図である。OPA1では、光子対の偏光が平行(S1↑、I1↑と記載)、OPA2では垂直偏光(S2・、I2・)になるように、各結晶を配置する。このとき、光子対は直線ビーム状の放射パターンを持つ。二波長ビームスプリッタ(DBS)と偏光ビームスプリッタ(PBS)を使用して、光子対ビームの分割、合波を行う。二波長ビームスプリッタ(DBS)は、波長の異なる光子を透過、反射で分離する。図7では、S1↑が透過、I1↑が反射、S2・が反射、I2・が透過する。図中のIdler Outputで水平偏光の光子(I1↑)が観測されれば、Signal Outputでも水平偏光の光子(S1↑)が観測される。また、Idler Outputで垂直偏光の光子(I2・)が観測されれば、Signal Outputでも垂直偏光の光子(S2・)が観測される。各結晶から偏光ビームスプリッタ(PBS)までの距離を調整することで、式(2)の状態を得る。但し、二波長ビームスプリッタ(DBS)を使用するために、光子対を構成する2個の光子の波長を同一にすることができない。非特許文献4は、非特許文献3と原理が同じである。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
従来技術を示す、非特許文献1と非特許文献3の一部はタイプ2位相整合条件、非特許文献2はタイプ1位相整合条件でのパラメトリック下方変換による光子対発生技術であるが、光子対がコーン状に拡がってしまい、取り扱いが困難であった。これに対して、非特許文献3の一部と非特許文献4では直線ビーム状の光子対を得ることができるが、二波長ビームスプリッタによる波長分離器を必要とするために、光子対を構成する2個の光子の波長が異なり、応用範囲が限定される。これまでに、
(1)タイプ1位相整合条件を満たす二次非線形媒質によるパラメトリック下方変換の利用、
(2)直線状の光子対ビームの発生、
(3)光子対を構成する2個の光子の波長が同一、
を同時に満足させるような発生技術は提案されていない。
本発明の目的は、上記従来例の問題点に鑑み、タイプ1位相整合条件を満たす非線形媒質によるパラメトリック下方変換を利用した、2個の光子の波長が同一となる直線ビーム状の光子対を発生する偏光に基づく量子相関光子対発生装置を提供することにある。

【課題を解決しようとする手段】
本発明は、上記課題を解決するために、以下の解決手段を採用する。
(1)本発明の量子相関光子対発生装置は、光源となるレーザと、前記レーザの出力であるレーザ光を分割する分割器と、前記分割器の分割光の位相を調整して出射する位相シフタと、前記位相シフタの出力レーザ光により励起される二次非線形媒質からなるパラメトリック変換器と、前記パラメトリック変換器を出射する光子対ビームの偏光を回転させる半波長板を含み、前記位相シフタの内の任意の1つを通過した1対の偏光波をそれぞれ分離して出力する合波器とから構成する。
(2)また、前記(1)記載の二次非線形媒質はタイプ1位相整合条件を満たす4個の二次非線形結晶から構成することが好ましい。
(3)また、前記(1)記載の二次非線形媒質はタイプ1位相整合条件を満たす1個の二次非線形結晶から構成することが好ましい。
(4)また、前記(1)記載の二次非線形媒質は4本の擬似位相整合光導波路から構成することが好ましい。
(5)また、前記(1)乃至(4)のいずれか1項記載の量子相関光子対発生装置において、前記分割器はレーザ光を4等分するための3個の無偏光ビームスプリッタと3個の全反射鏡で構成するとよい。
(6)また、前記(1)乃至(5)のいずれか1項記載の量子相関光子対発生装置において、前記合波器は、前記変換器を出射する4本の光子対ビームを合波するための2個の偏光ビームスプリッタと1個の無偏光ビームスプリッタ及び全反射鏡で構成するとよい。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の実施の形態について以下図面に基づき詳細に説明する。
図1は本発明の4個の非線形結晶による量子相関光子対発生装置の構成図である。図2は本発明の1個の非線形結晶による量子相関光子対発生装置の構成図である。図3は本発明の4本の擬似位相整合光導路による量子相関光子対発生装置の構成図である。
本発明の量子相関光子対発生装置は、パラメトリック下方変換器となるタイプ1位相整合条件を満たす非線形媒質に対して、非線形媒質を励起する光源であるレーザを配置し、レーザ光を強度が等しい4本の光に分割する分割器を配置し、前記分割器における分割光の位相を独立に調整するために4個の位相シフタを配置し、分割光を非線形媒質に入射し、非線形媒質を出射する4本の光子対ビームの偏光面を回転させる半波長板を配置し、更に、合波するための合波器を配置する。

前記分割器は、図示のように組み合わせた、無偏光ビームスプリッタと全反射鏡から構成され、1本のレーザ光を4本の光に、好ましくは平行光に、分割する。
前記合波器は、図示のように組み合わせた、偏光ビームスプリッタと、無偏光ビームスプリッタと、全反射鏡から構成され、1対の光子対を選択し、さらに前記対になった光子を分離して出射する。
非線形媒質には、タイプ1位相整合条件を満足する4個の非線形結晶、タイプ1位相整合条件を満足する1個の非線形結晶、又は、タイプ1位相整合条件を満足する4本の擬似位相整合光導波路を使用する。
図1〜3に示す第1〜第3実施例では、使用する非線形媒質の種類や個数が異なるが、4分割されたレーザ光を非線形媒質に入射し、4本の直線状の光子対ビームを合波することで偏光に基づく量子相関光子対を発生させることを特徴としており、基本原理は同一である。

まず、図1に示す第1実施例について説明する。
(第1実施例)
量子相関光子対発生装置の構成は、パラメトリック下方変換器となる4個の非線形結晶1、2、3および4と、結晶を励起するレーザ5と、レーザ光を等しい強度で4分割するために使用する3個の無偏光ビームスプリッタ6、7および8と、3枚の全反射鏡9、10および11と、分割光の位相を調整する位相シフタ12、13、14および15と、結晶1および3から発生する光子対の偏光面を90度回転させる2枚の半波長板16および17と、4本の光子対ビームを合波するための2個の偏光ビームスプリッタ18および19、及び1個の無偏光ビームスプリッタ20と、3枚の全反射鏡21、22および23からなる。結晶1、2、3および4はタイプ1位相整合条件を満足する二次の非線形結晶である。各結晶から発生する光子対の偏光が全て水平となるように各結晶を配置する(図中で、S1↑、I1↑、S2↑、I2↑、S3↑、I3↑、S4↑、I4↑と記載)。但し、↑は水平偏光を意味する。

分割光の強度を等しくして、各結晶の光子対発生確率を等しくする。ある時刻では、光子対(S1↑、I1↑)、光子対(S2↑、I2↑)、光子対(S3↑、I3↑)、光子対(S4↑、I4↑)の光子対のいずれか1組のみが存在するように、光源5の強度を調整する。半波長板16および17により結晶1および3から発生した光子対の偏光が水平から垂直に回転する。図中では、光子対(S1↑、I1↑)から光子対(S1・、I1・)、光子対(S3↑、I3↑)から光子対(S3・、I3・)に変更されている。但し、「・」は垂直偏光を意味する。全反射鏡21と偏光ビームスプリッタ18により光子対(S1・、I1・)と光子対(S2↑、I2↑)が合波される。同様に、全反射鏡23と偏光ビームスプリッタ19により光子対(S3・、I3・)と光子対(S4↑、I4↑)が合波される。

更に、全反射鏡22と無偏光ビームスプリッタ20により、4本の光子対ビームが合波される。このとき,垂直偏光の組み合わせとなる光子対(S1・、I1・)と光子対(S3・、I3・)間で二光子干渉(下記参考文献1参照)と呼ばれる強度干渉が生じるため,出力1では光子対(S1・S3・)、出力2では光子対(I1・、I3・)の組み合わせのみが許される。また、同様に、水平偏光の組み合わせとなる光子対(S2↑、I2↑)と光子対(S4↑、I4↑)間でも二光子干渉が生じるため,出力1では光子対(S2↑、S4↑)、出力2では光子対(I2↑、I4↑)の組み合わせのみが許される。但し、前述の通り、ある時刻では、光子対(S1↑、I1↑)、光子対(S2↑、I2↑)、光子対(S3↑、I3↑)、光子対(S4↑、I4↑)の光子対のいずれか1組のみが存在しているので、出力1で垂直偏光の光子(S1・又はS3・)が観測されれば、出力2で垂直偏光の光子(I1・又はI3・)が観測される。また、逆に、出力1で水平偏光の光子(S2↑又はS4↑)が観測されれば、出力2で水平偏光の光子(I2↑又はI4↑)が観測される。このとき、出力1と出力2で必ず同じ番号を持つ光子が1個ずつ観測され、片方の出力で、光子が2個同時に観測される、又は、全く観測されない確率は零になる。

このように、二光子干渉では、出力1と出力2で必ず光子が1個ずつ対になって観測される。これは、参考文献1(「パリテイ」Vol.17,No.3,2002 (2002年3月1日)丸善出版発行、P.1〜3、2002年3月号掲載の「多光子状態の不思議な干渉 −フォトニック・ド・ブロイ波長と量子リソグラフィ−」枝松圭一 著)に示されている。
さて、結局、二光子干渉により、出力1では光子(S1・、S2↑、S3・、S4↑)の中で1個の光子が、出力2では光子(I1・、I2↑、I3・、I4↑)の中で同じ番号を持つ1個の光子が観測される。これは、出力1で垂直偏光の光子(S1・又はS3・)が観測されれば、出力2で垂直偏光の光子(I1・又はI3・)が観測されることを意味する。また、逆に、出力1で水平偏光の光子(S2↑又はS4↑)が観測されれば、出力2で水平偏光の光子(I2↑又はI4↑)が観測されることも意味する。但し、両者の生起確率は等しい。
