【従来の技術】
従来のリコイルスタータ装置では、リコイルロープに依ってローププーリーを回転させこの回転を遠心クラッチを介してエンジンのクランク軸に直接伝達し、起動させるのが一般的であった。このリコイルスタータではロープを所望の回転スピードと一気に引く力が要求される為力の弱い人には操作が難しく、従って船外機発電機等リコイルスターターを使用している中型エンジンでは始動不能が現実に起り、また、内燃エンジンシリンダー内部の空気圧には変動が生じる為クランク軸と直結している従来のリコイルスターターではその負荷の度合に依って容易、円滑にリコイルロープを引くことが難しいという欠点が有った。

また、スターターにはセル式モーターを用いたもの、或いはワンウェイクラッチとスタート用のバネを用い手動でリコイリングを繰り返しリコイルの都度スタート用のバネの蓄力を増し起動させるものが存在する(特許文献1)。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
前者のセル式モータースターターは構造が複雑で高価であり、また、充電機構が必要とされ、起動は容易ではあるが充電不足、その他使用不能になることが考えられ船外機に於いては緊急用として別途従来形リコイルスターターを取り付けている。

また、後者のワンウェイクラッチを設け、スタート用のバネの蓄力を数回のリコイリングで徐々に増してエンジンをスタートさせる機能を持っているスターターはリコイリングロープ戻し過程終了時スタート用のバネに蓄力が残る事が特徴であり、エンジン起動迄には至らないが大きな力が貯えられたままの場合が当然生じる。

一方、内燃エンジンの回転トルクが不規則になり、内燃エンジンピストンが上昇して燃焼室の空気が圧縮されたときにピストン周囲の割りリングシールより空気漏れが発生して圧力が低下しエンジンクランク軸の負荷が減少する。このような場合には上記蓄力が大で有るだけに負荷の減少とが相重なり予期せぬエンジン起動が生ずる恐れがある。

本発明のエンジンスタータ装置は、ロープによって回動されるロープリールと、このロープリールに備えた、ロープリールの回動によって巻かれるリコイル用の第1ゼンマイとエンジンのクランク軸駆動用の第2ゼンマイの一対と、この第2ゼンマイによって駆動されるエンジン起動プーリと、このエンジン起動プーリと上記クランク軸間に介挿される遠心クラッチとで構成され、上記第1ゼンマイによるロープ戻し終了時には上記第2ゼンマイのバネ力が零とされることを特徴とする。
