Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a switching power supply, and more particularly to a multi-stage switching power supply in which a plurality of DC / DC converter circuits are connected in series.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, a so-called DC / DC converter circuit has been known as a kind of switching power supply device. In a typical DC / DC converter circuit, after a DC input is once converted to an AC using a switching circuit, the DC input is transformed (step-up or step-down) using a transformer, and is again converted to a DC using an output circuit. A DC output having a voltage different from the input voltage can be obtained.

In contrast to such a normal switching power supply device including only one DC / DC converter circuit, a switching power supply device of a type in which two DC / DC converter circuits are connected in series has recently been proposed (Non-Patent Document 1). reference). As the two DC / DC converter circuits connected in series, for example, a non-insulated DC / DC converter circuit such as a buck converter circuit is used in the front stage, and an insulated DC / DC converter circuit such as a half bridge converter circuit is used in the rear stage. Stabilizes the output of the non-insulated DC / DC converter circuit, and fixes the duty of the switching element included in the subsequent insulated DC / DC converter circuit to a certain amount, thereby obtaining the final output voltage. Can be stabilized at a desired level. By employing such a configuration, a relatively low output voltage can be obtained with high efficiency and stability, and thus it is suitable as a power supply device for a computer, for example.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, the conventional switching power supply having a two-stage configuration has a problem that its responsiveness is lower than that of a normal switching power supply having a one-stage configuration. Hereinafter, the cause will be described.
[0005]
FIG. 13 is an equivalent circuit diagram of a conventional two-stage switching power supply device.
[0006]
As shown in FIG. 13, the switching power supply of the two-stage configuration has a pulse Vinp generation source and a load R Load Can be represented by an equivalent circuit in which two LC filter circuits are connected to the output terminal to which is connected. Here, the pulse Vinp is a pulse-like power waveform generated by a switching element included in the first-stage DC / DC converter circuit (a buck converter circuit in Non-Patent Document 1), and the inductance L1 is the first-stage DC / DC converter circuit. This is an inductor that constitutes a converter circuit. The capacitance C1 is the combined capacitance of two capacitors provided on the primary side of the second-stage DC / DC converter circuit (half-bridge converter circuit in Non-Patent Document 1), and the inductance L2 is the second-stage DC / DC converter circuit. This is an output inductor provided on the secondary side of the / DC converter circuit, and the capacitance C2 is an output capacitor provided on the secondary side of the second stage DC / DC converter circuit.
[0007]
As described above, in the two-stage switching power supply device, the two-stage LC filter circuits are equivalently connected in series, so that the first-stage switching power supply device has the first-stage configuration. Since the LC filter circuit (inductance L1 and capacitance C1) exists, the control gain cannot be increased to a high frequency range. For this reason, it is necessary to set the switching frequency low and the control gain low, which makes it difficult to improve the responsiveness.
[0008]
Accordingly, an object of the present invention is to provide a switching power supply device in which a plurality of DC / DC converter circuits are connected in series, and which has improved responsiveness.
[0009]
On the other hand, a computer or the like is composed of a large number of devices, and some of them may have different operating voltages from each other. For this reason, for example, when a conventional multi-stage switching power supply device is adopted as a power supply device for a computer, there is a problem that the number of DC / DC converter circuits becomes very large. For example, when three types of operating voltages are required, if a conventional switching power supply having a two-stage configuration is used, the number of DC / DC converter circuits is required to be six (= 3 × 2), and high integration is achieved. And cost reduction becomes difficult.
[0010]
Therefore, another object of the present invention is a switching power supply device in which a plurality of DC / DC converter circuits are connected in series, and which can suppress an increase in the number of converters even when a plurality of operating voltages are required. It is to provide a power supply.
[0011]
Also, a plurality of switching power supply devices may be provided in parallel for the purpose of increasing the maximum output current in the switching power supply device or for preventing the power supply system from stopping even if one converter is damaged. In this case, in order to enhance the reliability of the entire switching power supply device, it is desirable to control the output current values of the switching power supply devices connected in parallel to be substantially equal to each other.
[0012]
Therefore, still another object of the present invention is to provide a switching power supply device including a plurality of DC / DC converter circuits connected in parallel and a DC / DC converter circuit connected in series to the plurality of DC / DC converter circuits. Is to substantially equalize the output currents of a plurality of DC / DC converter circuits connected in parallel.
[0013]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
A switching power supply according to the present invention includes a plurality of isolated first DC / DC converter circuits connected in parallel, and a non-insulated second DC / DC converter circuit commonly connected to each first DC / DC converter circuit. A DC / DC converter circuit, wherein the first DC / DC converter circuit has a function of continuously transmitting power from a primary side to a secondary side of a transformer, and the second DC / DC converter circuit The converter circuit has a function of stabilizing an output voltage.
[0014]
According to the present invention, a high response can be realized because the control gain can be increased to a high frequency range, and a high duty can be set in the first and second DC / DC converter circuits. Conversion efficiency can be obtained. Further, in the first DC / DC converter circuit, since power is continuously transmitted from the primary side to the secondary side of the transformer, the output of the first DC / DC converter circuit is not pulsed. Therefore, the choke coil for smoothing the pulse voltage can be eliminated. Further, since the plurality of first DC / DC converter circuits are connected in parallel, the maximum output current can be easily increased. Further, even when one of the first DC / DC converter circuits stops, the entire power supply device does not stop, so that high reliability can be obtained.
[0015]
In this case, it is preferable that any one of the plurality of first DC / DC converter circuits has an output impedance adjusting function. If the output current values of the first DC / DC converter circuits are set to be substantially equal using the output impedance adjustment function, it is possible to greatly increase the reliability of the entire switching power supply device. The output impedance is preferably adjusted by changing the operation state of the synchronous rectifier circuit. Specifically, this can be done by changing the duty of the synchronous rectifier circuit, and by changing the control voltage to the rectifier switch included in the synchronous rectifier circuit.
[0016]
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, each of the plurality of first DC / DC converter circuits includes an output current of the first DC / DC converter circuit and an output current of another first DC / DC converter circuit. And a second means for adjusting output impedance based on a detection result by the first means. In this case, it is preferable that the first means detects a difference between an output average current of the first DC / DC converter circuit and an output average current of another first DC / DC converter circuit. . In this way, when it is detected that the output current of a certain first DC / DC converter circuit is larger than the output current of another first DC / DC converter circuit, the first DC / DC converter If the output impedance of the circuit is increased, the imbalance of the output current can be quickly eliminated.
[0017]
Further, in the present invention, it is possible to provide a plurality of the second DC / DC converter circuits. In this case, the number of DC / DC converter circuits can be significantly reduced as compared with the related art, so that high integration and low cost can be realized.
[0018]
In a preferred embodiment of the present invention, the first DC / DC converter circuit includes a switching circuit provided on a primary side of the transformer, and at least in a normal operation state, a duty of the switching circuit is reduced. Is fixed. In this case, it is preferable that the switching circuit includes at least one main switch and a resonance capacitor connected in parallel to the main switch. By providing such a resonance capacitor, continuous power transmission from the primary side to the secondary side of the transformer can be realized even if the duty is set to a certain low value.
[0019]
In another preferred embodiment of the present invention, when at least one of a state immediately after the start of operation and a state where the output current is an overcurrent, the duty of the switching circuit is set to a value lower than the duty in the normal operation state. Fixed to. Here, it is preferable that the low value is a value at which the main switch is turned off during a period in which the voltage applied to the primary winding of the transformer does not reach the input voltage after the main switch is turned on. . Here, the “primary winding of the transformer” purely refers to the primary winding of the transformer, and does not include leakage inductance or parasitic inductance of wiring. According to this, the DC power supply connected to the input power supply terminal of the first DC / DC converter circuit can be protected from an inrush current, and the present switching power supply device can be protected from an overcurrent state.

[0026]
As shown in FIG. 2, if the present invention is applied to a multi-output switching power supply device, the number of DC / DC converter circuits can be significantly reduced as compared with the related art. For example, when three types of output voltages (Vo1, Vo2, Vo3) are generated in a conventional switching power supply having a two-stage configuration, six (= 3 × 2) DC / DC converter circuits are required. According to the present invention, only four (= 1 + 3) are required. Therefore, high integration and low cost can be realized.
[0027]
FIG. 3 is a block diagram schematically showing a basic configuration in a case where the present invention is applied to a multi-output switching power supply device and further, an insulation type non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuit is provided in parallel. The switching power supply device shown in FIG. 3 includes a plurality of insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuits 10 (10) connected in parallel between a pair of
[0028]
Also in this example, various isolated DC / DC converter circuits are used as each of the isolated unstabilized DC / DC converter circuits 10 (10-1, 10-2, 10-3,...). Various non-insulated DC / DC converter circuits can be used as the non-insulated stabilized DC / DC converter circuits 20 (20-1, 20-2, 20-3,...). it can. Each of the non-insulated stabilized DC / DC converter circuits 20 (20-1, 20-2, 20-3,...) May be a DC / DC converter circuit having the same configuration, or a part thereof. Alternatively, the DC / DC converter circuits may have entirely different configurations.
[0029]
As shown in FIG. 3, if the present invention is applied to a multi-output switching power supply device, and furthermore, an insulation type unstabilized DC / DC converter circuit is provided in parallel, each insulation type unstabilized DC / DC converter circuit is provided. Since the output current is supplied by 10 (10-1, 10-2, 10-3,...), The output rated value can be increased without using a large converter. Also, even if one of the stabilized DC / DC converter circuits 10 (10-1, 10-2, 10-3,...) Is stopped, the current is supplied from another converter, so that the entire power supply device is stopped. Is not reached, leading to improvement in reliability. In this case, if the output current values of each of the insulation type unstabilized DC / DC converter circuits 10 (10-1, 10-2, 10-3,...) Are controlled to be substantially equal to each other, the entire switching power supply device can be controlled. The reliability can be greatly increased. A method for achieving this will be described later.

That is, the push-pull converter circuit shown in FIG. 4 is an “insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuit”.

[0069]
The drive circuit 122 adjusts the duty of the rectifier switches Q13 and Q14 based on the detection signal 123a or 123b supplied from the corresponding comparator 123. Specifically, when the corresponding detection signal 123a or 123b is at a low level (when the average output current of the isolated unstabilized DC / DC converter circuit is lower), the duty of the rectifier switches Q13 and Q14 is reduced. Is set to substantially 50%, and when the corresponding detection signal 123a or 123b is at a high level (when the average output current of the isolated unstabilized DC / DC converter circuit is higher), the rectifying switch The duty of Q13 and Q14 is made lower than the current value.
[0070]
When the duty of the rectification switches Q13 and Q14 is substantially less than 50%, the rectification is performed by the rectification diodes CR11 and CR12. Therefore, changing the duty of the rectifier switches Q13 and Q14 is nothing but changing the output impedance of the isolated non-stabilized DC /
[0071]
Since the insulated non-stabilized DC /
[0072]
The comparator 123 shown in FIG. 12 is an element for detecting such an output current difference (I1-I2 and I2-I1), and the comparator 123 included in the insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuit 10-1 Detecting I1-I2, the comparator 123 included in the insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuit 10-2 detects I2-I1. The detection signal 123a or 123b, which is the output of the comparator 123, is supplied to the drive circuit 122, and the drive circuit 122 adjusts the duty of the rectification switches Q13, Q14 based on the detection signal 123a or 123b.
[0073]
For example,
I1> I2
Therefore, if the detection signal 123a is at a high level and the detection signal 123b is at a low level, the duty of the synchronous rectification circuit in the insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuit 10-1 is reduced, and substantially. While it is less than 50%, the duty of the synchronous rectification circuit in the insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuit 10-2 is set to substantially 50%. Thus, the synchronous rectification circuit in the insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuit 10-1 has a longer diode rectification period than the synchronous rectification circuit in the insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuit 10-2. Therefore, the output impedance is increased. As a result, the output current I1 decreases, the output current I2 increases, and the imbalance of the output impedance is eliminated. In the opposite case (when I1 <I2), the imbalance of the output impedance is similarly eliminated.
[0074]
As described above, in the switching power supply according to the present embodiment, since the plurality of insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuits 10 (10-1 and 10-2) are connected in parallel, Since the output current is supplied by the non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuit 10 (10-1, 10-2), the output rated value can be increased without using a large converter. Further, even if one of the insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuits 10 (10-1 and 10-2) stops, current is supplied from the other converter and the entire power supply device does not stop. Character can be obtained. Further, in the switching power supply according to the present embodiment, since the output current value of each of the insulation type unstabilized DC / DC converter circuits 10 (10-1, 10-2) is controlled to be substantially equal, the switching power supply is controlled. The reliability of the whole power supply device can be greatly improved.
[0075]
The present invention is not limited to the above embodiments, and various changes can be made within the scope of the invention described in the claims, and these are also included in the scope of the present invention. Needless to say.
[0076]
For example, the present invention can be applied to a switching power supply of a type in which three or more DC / DC converter circuits are cascaded. In this case, a non-isolated stabilized DC / DC converter circuit is used as the final DC / DC converter circuit, and at least one, and preferably all, of the other DC / DC converter circuits are insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converters. A circuit may be used.
[0077]
Further, in the present invention, the former non-isolated type stabilized DC / DC converter circuit and the latter non-isolated type stabilized DC / DC converter circuit are not necessarily required to be arranged close to each other, and they are separated from each other. They may be arranged. Therefore, for example, even when the insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuit and the non-insulated stabilized DC / DC converter circuit are formed on separate printed circuit boards, the insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuit is formed. By connecting the output terminal of the DC / DC converter circuit and the input terminal of the non-isolated stabilized DC / DC converter circuit to form a two-stage switching power supply device, such a switching power supply device according to the present invention is provided. Included in the range.
[0078]
Further, in the embodiment shown in FIG. 12, the output impedance of each of the insulated unstabilized DC /
[0079]
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 12, two insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuits 10-1 and 10-2 are connected in parallel, but three or more of these may be connected in parallel. It is possible. Also in this case, the output currents (I1, I2, I3,...) Of the respective insulation type unstabilized DC / DC converter circuits 10 (10-1, 10-2, 10-3,. What is necessary is just to adjust the duty of the synchronous rectification circuit in each insulation type unstabilized DC /
[0080]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, the switching power supply according to the present invention can achieve high responsiveness because the control gain can be increased up to the high frequency region, and can set a high duty in each DC / DC converter circuit. As a result, high conversion efficiency can be obtained.
[0081]
Further, if the present invention is applied to a multi-output switching power supply, the number of DC / DC converter circuits can be significantly reduced, and thus high integration and low cost can be realized.
[0082]
Furthermore, in the present invention, if a plurality of insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuits are connected in parallel, the output current is supplied by each of the insulated unstabilized DC / DC converter circuits, so that a large-sized converter is not used. , The output rated value can be increased. Also, even if one of the insulated non-stabilized DC / DC converter circuits is stopped, the current is supplied from another converter and the whole power supply device does not stop, so that high reliability can be obtained. . In this case, by adjusting the output impedance so that the output current value of each of the insulated unstabilized DC / DC converter circuits becomes substantially equal, the reliability of the entire switching power supply device can be greatly improved.
