Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a printing system using a small printer suitable for an output terminal of a small information processing device such as a word processor or a personal computer for consumer use. The present invention relates to a printer status notification system that determines and notifies a printer driver.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, a printing system in which a host computer and an output device are mutually connected has been known. In a printer having such a printing system, in order to obtain a good printing result and to perform an operation for a user, a function of grasping the state of the printer and transmitting it to a printer driver on the host computer side. There is.
[0003]
The paper interval detection function is a function for detecting the distance between the ink ejection surface of the print head and the recording medium in the printer device. This is to make it possible to record at an accurate position by knowing the distance between the medium surface on which the printer records and the ink ejection surface.
[0004]
Conventional printers are provided with a lever for adjusting the paper interval, and the position for thick paper such as a postcard and the thin paper position of the machine can be set by using ordinary paper.
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, recently, there is a printer device having a function of automatically adjusting a paper interval, and in the case of a printer device having such a function, when a user prints thick paper or the like, the user can adjust the paper interval with a lever. Operation must not be performed.
[0006]
Therefore, it is necessary to inform the printer driver of the host computer whether the printer to be used at present is a model that supports the automatic paper interval adjustment function.
[0007]
Therefore, an object of the present invention is to determine whether or not the apparatus is compatible with the automatic sheet gap adjusting function and to notify the printer driver on the host computer side so that incorrect operation information is not transmitted to the user. It is to provide a printing system which can perform the printing.
[0008]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The above-mentioned object has a function of referring to model information held in the printer device, determining whether or not the device is a device that supports the automatic sheet gap adjusting function, and transmitting a determination result to a printer driver on the host computer side. Achieved by providing.
[0009]
Therefore, according to the present invention, it is determined whether or not the printer device is compatible with the automatic paper interval adjusting function, and is transmitted to the printer driver on the host computer side. An operation can be issued, and it becomes easy to prevent the corresponding machine from performing any operation related to the paper interval adjustment.
[0010]
