前記各電気光学変調装置から射出された変調光を合成する色合成光学系と、
前記色合成光学系から射出された合成光を表示画像として投写する投写光学系と、
前記色分離光学系によって分離された複数色の照明光のうち少なくとも1色の照明光の経路内に位置するリレー光学系とを備えたプロジェクタにおいて、
前記リレー光学系を経て照射される前記電気光学変調装置と前記リレー光学系を経ずに照射される前記電気光学変調装置とで前記電気光学変調装置に照射される照度分布が上下・左右逆転することで前記表示画像に生じる色むらを抑制するために照明光を部分的に遮光する遮光手段をさらに備えたことを特徴とするプロジェクタ。
