Abstract
Description
【0001】
従来、ネットワーク管理のためのプロトコルとしては、SNMP(”Simple Network Management Protocol”、簡易サブネット管理プロトコル、RFC1157)が用いられていた。

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a management range determination method, apparatus, and program for distributed network management.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventionally, SNMP ("Simple Network Management Protocol", simple subnet management protocol, RFC1157) has been used as a protocol for network management. SNMP is a protocol by which an agent of a managed device notifies management information in response to a processing request from a manager of the management device.
[0003]
In order to apply this network management to a distributed network having a plurality of subnets, there is a “distributed network management method” in which a plurality of sub-management devices are arranged on a subnet (for example, see Patent Document 1). This makes it possible to distribute the communication traffic when collecting the management information of the managed device and the processing load of the management device.
[0004]
When the entire network is configured by TCP / IP, the management device automatically finds a sub-management device, and the sub-management device automatically finds a managed device. (For example, Patent Document 2). As a result, a managed device can be easily found even in a network in which the managed device can join or leave.
[0005]
Software having a management function for such a distributed network is also commercially available (for example, see Non-Patent

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in the conventional distributed network management system, the operator needs to determine the management range of each sub-management device. Specifically, the operator has to set a list of managed devices to be managed or a range of subnets in each sub-management device.
[0010]
Further, in the conventional distributed network management system, when a failure or deletion occurs in a certain sub-management device, the managed device group managed by that sub-management device can be managed by another sub-management device. It is possible, but it is necessary for the operator to set in advance the relationship between the sub-management devices that perform the alternative operation.
[0011]
Therefore, in a large-scale network having a large number of managed devices, the setting of the sub-management devices becomes complicated, and there is a problem that the network cannot be efficiently managed due to the expansion of the network scale. In other words, although a certain managed device is placed under the control of a certain sub-management device, it is located at a position substantially closer to the sub-management device (a position not considering an absolute position but considering a communication bandwidth amount). It happened that there were other sub-management devices. Normally, it is preferable that the managed device be placed under the control of a sub-management device that is located substantially close.
[0012]
Therefore, the present invention provides a management system for managing a distributed network, in which a managed device is placed under the control of a sub-management device that can be managed efficiently, even in a large-scale network having a huge number of managed devices. An object of the present invention is to provide a range determination method, an apparatus, and a program.
[0013]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention manages a distributed network having a plurality of subnets including a management device, a plurality of sub-management devices managed by the management device, and a plurality of managed devices managed by the sub-management device. To this end, the present invention relates to a management range determining method, device, and program for determining a managed device managed by a sub-management device.
[0014]
According to the management range determination method of the present invention,
A first step of creating, for each sub-management device, a table indicating a route cost between each of the managed devices;
A managed device that has only one sub-management device that minimizes the path cost is allocated under the control of the sub-management device, and a managed device that has a plurality of sub-management devices that minimizes the route cost has a minimum route cost. The second device to be allocated under the management of the sub-management device having a small number of allocated managed devices, in order from the managed device having the small number of sub-management devices, and further from the managed device having the small minimum path cost. And a step.
[0015]
According to another embodiment of the management range determination method of the present invention, in the second step, the route cost is a total value of link costs between subnets passing from the sub-management device to the managed device. It is also preferable that the link cost is determined for each subnet based on the amount of communication bandwidth.
[0016]
Further, according to another embodiment of the management range determination method of the present invention, the first step includes automatically detecting a managed device that responds to a request message transmitted by the sub-management device, and In the step, it is preferable that the link cost between the subnets is determined based on the management information having the address, the netmask, and the communication interface type received from the managed device.
[0017]
Further, according to another embodiment of the management range determination method of the present invention, the second step is to create a topology map between subnets based on link cost and create a shortest path tree diagram from the sub management device to the subnet. It is also preferable to do so.
[0018]
Further, according to another embodiment of the management range determination method of the present invention, it is preferable that the second step is executed when a failure or deletion of any sub-management device is detected.
[0019]

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail with reference to the drawings.

[0034]
According to FIG. 2, the management
[0035]
FIG. 3 is a flowchart of the present invention. Hereinafter, description will be given along each sequence of FIG.
[0036]
(S1) The sub-management device discovers the managed device and the management information is collected. The collected management information is received by the management range determination device. The management information here is the address of the managed device, the netmask, and the communication interface type (Ethernet (registered trademark), ATM, ISDN, etc.). These management information can be collected by a conventional technique.
[0037]
(S2) A link cost between subnets is derived based on the collected management information of the managed devices, and a topology map is created. The created topology map is shown in FIG.
[0038]
According to FIG. 2, a link cost is shown for the connection between subnets. The link cost is usually determined as the reciprocal of the communication bandwidth. Of course, the link cost may be a fixed value or may be arbitrarily set by the administrator.
[0039]
If the link cost is derived based on the communication bandwidth, for example, the link cost is low for a wideband communication link such as Ethernet (registered trademark), and the link cost is low for a narrowband communication link such as ISDN. Get higher. Note that each sub-management device does not necessarily need to search all subnets, and may set the number of hops and the like in order to limit the range of subnets in which managed devices are discovered.
[0040]
(S3) Next, for each sub-management device, a shortest path tree diagram is created from the topology map of FIG. 2 by using the Dijkstra method or the like. Since the shortest paths to the managed devices belonging to the same subnet are the same, the shortest path tree is preferably created for each subnet.
[0041]
FIG. 4 is a shortest path tree diagram from the
[0042]
(S4) Next, a minimum value is calculated for the path cost that is the total value of the link costs between the subnets. For example, Table 1 shows the shortest path costs of the managed devices A to J viewed from the
[0043]
[Table 1]
[0044]
If each sub-management device can derive the route cost for the managed device, the sub-management device can also transmit a list of the route costs to the management range determination device.
[0045]
Similarly, the shortest path costs of the managed devices A to J are calculated for the
[0046]
[Table 2]
[0047]
(S5) Next, using the table, the route cost to the sub-management device is compared for each managed device, and if the only sub-management device with the smallest route cost is under control of the sub-management device. And the managed device is assigned.
The managed device C is assigned to the
The managed device D is assigned to the
The managed device E is assigned to the
The managed device I is assigned to the sub-managed device 3 having the route cost “0”.
The managed device J is assigned to the sub-management device 3 having the route cost “0”.
[0048]
As a result, an assignment result as shown in Table 3 is obtained. The devices that have been suspended are the managed devices A, B, F, G, and H.
[0049]
[Table 3]
[0050]
(S6) When there are a plurality of sub-management apparatuses with the minimum path cost, the sub-management apparatus is determined by the following processing. According to Table 3, the managed devices A, B, F, G, and H are targets.
[0051]
First, the sub-management devices that have the least number of sub-management devices that minimize the path cost are allocated to the sub-management devices in order. According to Table 3, the managed devices A, B, F, and G having two sub-management devices with the minimum route cost are replaced with the managed devices H having three sub-management devices having the minimum route cost. Takes precedence over
[0052]
Next, the managed devices having the same number of sub-management devices having the minimum route cost are allocated to the sub-management devices in order from the managed device having the smallest route cost. Therefore, of the managed devices A, B, F, and G, the managed devices A and B having the lowest route cost have priority.
[0053]
Next, the managed devices to be allocated are allocated in order from the sub-management device having the smaller number of allocated managed devices. First, among the managed devices A and B, a sub-management device of the managed device A having a small ID is determined. Among the

Next, consider a case where a failure or deletion has occurred in the sub management device 3 in the subnet of FIG.
[0065]
At this time, the management range determination device reassigns the managed device. As a method of detecting a failure or deletion, it is conceivable to perform periodic polling between each sub-management device and the management range determination device.
[0066]
The management range determination device creates Table 9 indicating the shortest path cost with the

[0068]
The sub-management device with the minimum route cost is determined as the management device of the managed device. However, if there are a plurality of sub-management devices with the minimum route cost, the determination is suspended. Table 10 shows the relationship between the managed device and the sub-management device which are suspended when the sub-management device 3 has failed or deleted.

[Table 10]
[0070]
Here, the management range determination device allocates sub-management devices to the managed devices H, I, and J.
[0071]
In the determination of the sub-management device, a managed device having a small number of sub-management devices having the minimum path cost is prioritized. In this case, the sub-management of the minimum path cost is performed for all the managed devices H, I, and J. There are two devices.
[0072]
For managed devices having the same number of sub-management devices having the minimum route cost, the determination is made from the one with the lowest route cost value. Therefore, of the managed devices H, I, and J, the managed device H having the lowest route cost is given priority.
