TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a fixing device used in an image forming apparatus such as a printer, a facsimile, and a copying machine that forms an image using an electrophotographic technique. In particular, it relates to the release member.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Generally, an image forming apparatus using an electrophotographic technique includes a photosensitive member having a photosensitive layer on an outer peripheral surface, a charging unit for uniformly charging the outer peripheral surface of the photosensitive member, and a uniform charging by the charging unit. Exposing means for selectively exposing the outer peripheral surface to form an electrostatic latent image, and applying a toner as a developer to the electrostatic latent image formed by the exposing means to form a visible image (toner image). Developing means, a transfer means for transferring the toner image developed by the developing means to a sheet-like recording medium such as paper to be transferred, and the toner image on the recording medium on which the toner image has been transferred by the transfer means. And a fixing device for fixing the image.
The fixing device has a fixing member (for example, a fixing roller or a fixing belt having a heat source) that is driven to rotate, and a pressing member (for example, a pressing roller) that is rotated by being pressed against the fixing member. The toner is melted and fixed on the recording medium by heating while passing the recording medium through the pressure contact portion between the member and the pressing member.
Further, the surface of the recording medium on which the toner image is formed is easily adhered to a fixing member (and also to a pressing member when images are formed on both sides of the recording medium) by an adhesive action of the toner. A peeling member is provided for peeling and guiding a sheet-shaped recording medium that has passed through the pressure contact portion from at least the fixing member of the pressing member.
[0003]
As a conventional fixing device, a fixing roller 1 having a heater 3 as a heat source and being driven to rotate, a pressing roller 2 rotating by being pressed against the fixing roller 1, A peeling member that is provided and guides the sheet-shaped recording medium (paper 5) that has passed through the pressure contact portion between the fixing roller 1 and the pressure roller 2 by peeling from the surface of the fixing roller 1 Is known (for example, see Patent Document 1).
[0004]
[Patent Document 1]
JP-A-53-81241 (FIG. 1)
[0005]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Since the peeling member is close to the fixing member, the temperature rises under the influence of the heat source for heating the fixing member.
On the other hand, the toner on the toner image forming surface of the recording medium that has just passed the pressure contact portion between the fixing member and the pressing member is in a high temperature state and is not completely cooled and fixed.
For this reason, in the conventional fixing device, when the recording medium passes through the pressure contact portion between the fixing member and the pressing member and is guided by being peeled by the peeling member, if the peeling member is excessively high in temperature, the recording is performed. In some cases, the toner image forming surface of the medium adheres to the peeling member, causing paper jam (clogging of the recording medium). In particular, when a so-called solid image (a state in which an image is formed on the entire surface) or a full-color image was formed, the toner amount was large, so that it was easy to stick to the peeling member.
[0006]
An object of the present invention is to solve the above-described problems and to provide a fixing device in which paper jam is less likely to occur.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, a fixing device according to the present invention includes a fixing member that is driven to rotate, a pressing member that is pressed against the fixing member and rotates, and a fixing member that is provided for the fixing member. A peeling member that peels off and guides the sheet-shaped recording medium that has passed through the pressure contact portion with the member from the surface of the fixing member,
Detecting means for detecting the temperature of the peeling member,
Based on the detection result by the detecting means, when the temperature of the peeling member is equal to or lower than a predetermined value, the supply of the recording medium to the pressure contact portion is permitted, and the temperature of the peeling member exceeds the predetermined value. Control means for not permitting the supply of the recording medium to the pressure contact portion if there is,
It is characterized by having.
The predetermined value is set to a temperature at which the toner image surface of the recording medium does not stick to the release plate.
Preferably, the detecting unit is provided at a position of the peeling member closest to the fixing member.
More preferably, a cooling means is provided for forcibly cooling the peeling member when the control means determines that the temperature of the peeling member exceeds the predetermined value.
[0008]
[Effects]
The fixing device of the present invention includes a fixing member that is driven to rotate, a pressing member that rotates while being pressed against the fixing member, and a pressing member that is provided for the fixing member and passes through a pressing portion between the fixing member and the pressing member. And a peeling member for peeling and guiding the sheet-shaped recording medium from the surface of the fixing member.
If there is a control unit that does not permit the supply of the recording medium to the press-contact unit in the event that there is, according to this fixing device, the following operational effects can be obtained.
That is, based on the result of the detection by the detecting unit that detects the temperature of the peeling member, the control unit determines that the temperature of the peeling member exceeds a predetermined value (the temperature at which the toner image surface of the recording medium does not stick to the peeling member). In this case, the supply of the recording medium to the pressure contact portion is not permitted. In this case, no recording material is supplied to the pressure contact portion, and therefore, paper jam does not occur.
On the other hand, if the control unit determines that the temperature of the release member is equal to or lower than a predetermined value (the temperature at which the toner image surface of the recording medium does not stick to the release member), the control unit determines whether the recording medium Is supplied, the recording medium is supplied to the press contact portion. In this case, since the release member is at a predetermined temperature or lower, the toner image surface of the recording medium is applied to the release member. There is no sticking, and thus, again, no paper jam occurs.
As described above, according to the present invention, paper jam due to an increase in the temperature of the peeling member can be prevented.
Further, by providing the detecting means at a position of the peeling member closest to the fixing member, paper jam can be more reliably prevented.
Since the peeling member receives heat from the fixing member, the portion where the temperature rises most is the portion closest to the fixing member, and the sticking jam phenomenon easily occurs in this portion. Therefore, by providing the detecting means at the position of the peeling member closest to the fixing member, the toner image surface is more securely prevented from sticking to the peeling member, and the paper jam is more reliably prevented. Can be prevented.
Further, by providing a cooling means for forcibly cooling the peeling member when the temperature of the peeling member is determined to be a value exceeding the predetermined value by the control means, to cool the peeling member early, The recording medium can be quickly supplied to the press contact portion.
[0009]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION

A separation member 70 for separating and guiding a sheet-shaped recording medium (not shown) from the surface of the fixing roller 61;
This fixing device is constituted by an oilless fixing device that does not apply oil to the rollers 61 and 62.
[0010]
The peeling member 70 is supported by a support member 75, and both ends of the support member 75 are attached to a frame (not shown) of the fixing device.
The leading edge 71 of the peeling member 70 is close to the surface 61a of the fixing roller 61 as shown in FIG. 2B, and the distance between the leading edge 71 and the surface 61a of the fixing roller 61 is the axis of the fixing roller 61. The center of the peeling member 70 is closest to the fixing roller 61 in the direction.
As shown in FIG. 7A, the leading edge 71 of the peeling member 70 has a central portion 71a in an arc shape toward the upstream side in the recording medium moving direction (therefore, the rotation direction of the fixing roller 61) as compared with the both end portions 71b. It is swollen.
Note that the guide surface of the recording medium of the peeling member 70 is coated with a fluororesin or the like which is excellent in the peelability with respect to the toner.
[0011]
Reference numeral 76 denotes a detecting unit (for example, a thermistor) for detecting the temperature of the peeling member 70, and is provided at a position (see 71a) of the peeling member 70 closest to the fixing member.
[0012]
Reference numeral 80 denotes control means electrically connected to the detection means 76, which can be constituted by a controller of the image forming apparatus in which the fixing device is incorporated.
When the temperature of the peeling member 70 is equal to or lower than a predetermined value, that is, a temperature at which the toner image surface of the recording medium does not stick to the peeling member 70, the control unit 80 And the supply of the recording medium to the press contact portion N is not permitted when the temperature of the peeling member 70 exceeds the predetermined value. .
Specifically, for example, when the temperature of the peeling member 70 exceeds the predetermined value, the image forming operation in the image forming apparatus in which the fixing device is incorporated is performed, It is configured to stop until it becomes equal to or less than a predetermined value.
[0013]
Further, the ease with which the toner image forming surface of the recording medium is adhered to the peeling member 70 differs depending on the image pattern, the image forming density (toner amount), and the type of the recording medium. (Toner amount) and a plurality of the predetermined values are appropriately set according to the type of the recording medium. For example, if the image pattern is a pattern in which the amount of toner is large at the front of the recording medium in the direction of approach to the pressure contact portion, the predetermined value is lowered, and conversely, at the front of the direction of approach to the pressure contact. In the case of a pattern with a small amount of toner, the predetermined value is set higher. When the overall image forming density (toner amount) of the entire image is large, the predetermined value is set low, and conversely, when the image forming layer degree is small, the predetermined value is set high. is there. Further, when the recording medium is a thin recording medium (it is easy to stick due to its low waist), the predetermined value is set low, and conversely, the recording medium is thick (it is difficult to stick due to its strong waist). In the case of a recording medium, the predetermined value is set higher.
The information on the image pattern, the image forming density (toner amount), and the type of the recording medium can be obtained from a controller of the image forming apparatus in which the fixing device is incorporated, or a computer to which the image forming apparatus is connected (for example, Printer driver).
[0014]
Reference numeral 90 denotes a cooling unit (for example, a fan), which is driven and controlled by the control unit 80, and is driven when the control unit 80 determines that the temperature of the peeling member 70 exceeds the predetermined value. Is forcibly cooled.
[0015]
The operation of the above fixing device will be described with reference to the flowchart of FIG. The following operations are all controlled by the controller of the fixing device.
(I) When an image forming signal is input from a computer connected to the image forming apparatus to the image forming apparatus in which the fixing apparatus is incorporated, the fixing apparatus starts operating, and in step S1, the warming is performed. An up operation (operation of raising the temperature of the fixing roller 61 to a fixing-possible temperature while rotating the fixing roller 61 and the pressure roller 62 while setting the heater 60 to a high temperature) is started.
(Ii) When the warm-up operation in step S1 is completed, it is determined in step S2 whether the temperature of the peeling member 70 is equal to or lower than a predetermined value.
(Iii) If not less than the predetermined value (exceed the predetermined value), the cooling mode is entered in step S3, the cooling means 90 is operated, and the process returns to step S1 (normal warm-up has been completed and the fixing roller 61 has been stopped). Since the temperature of the fixing roller 61 has reached the temperature at which fixing can be performed, the process goes through step S1. However, if the temperature of the fixing roller 61 is lowered due to the operation of the cooling unit 90, the fixing operation is performed while the cooling unit 90 performs the cooling operation on the peeling member 70. The temperature of the fixing roller 61 is raised to an allowable temperature).
(Iv) If it is determined in step S2 that the temperature of the peeling member 70 is equal to or lower than the predetermined value, a printing operation (image forming operation) on a recording medium is performed in step S4, and the recording medium is The toner is supplied to the press contact portion N to perform the fixing operation.
(V) After the fixing operation is performed, it is determined again in step S5 whether the temperature of the peeling member 70 is equal to or lower than a predetermined value.
If not (exceeding the predetermined value), the process returns to step S3.
(Vi) If it is determined in step S5 that the temperature of the peeling member 70 is equal to or lower than the predetermined value, it is determined in step S6 whether the specified number of prints has been reached.
If the specified number has not been reached, the process returns to step S4.
(Vii) If the specified number has been reached, the printing operation and the fixing operation are terminated in step S7.
[0016]
The fixing device as described above is provided with a fixing member 61 that is driven to rotate, a pressing member 62 that is pressed against the fixing member 61 and rotates, and a fixing member 61 that is provided for the fixing member 61. The peeling member 70 guides the sheet-shaped recording medium that has passed through the pressure contact portion N from the surface 61 a of the fixing member 61, a detecting unit 76 for detecting the temperature of the peeling member 70, and a detecting unit 76. Based on the detection result, when the temperature of the peeling member 70 is equal to or lower than a predetermined value, the supply of the recording medium to the press contact portion N is permitted, and when the temperature of the peeling member 70 exceeds the predetermined value. Is provided with a control means 80 that does not permit the supply of the recording medium to the press contact portion N. Therefore, according to this fixing device, the following operation and effect can be obtained.
That is, the control unit 80 determines that the temperature of the peeling member 70 exceeds a predetermined value (the temperature at which the toner image surface of the recording medium does not stick to the peeling member) based on the detection result by the detecting unit 76 that detects the temperature of the peeling member 70. If the value is the value, the supply of the recording medium to the press contact portion N is not permitted. In this case, the recording material is not supplied to the press contact portion N, and therefore, paper jam does not occur.
[0017]
On the other hand, if the controller 80 determines that the temperature of the peeling member 70 is equal to or lower than a predetermined value (the temperature at which the toner image surface of the recording medium does not stick to the peeling member), the controller 80 controls the pressing portion N Since the supply of the recording medium to the recording medium is permitted, the recording medium is supplied to the press contact portion N. In this case, since the temperature of the release member 70 is lower than a predetermined temperature, the toner There is no sticking of the image surface to the peeling member 70, and therefore, paper jam does not occur again.
As described above, according to this fixing device, it is possible to prevent paper jam due to a rise in the temperature of the peeling member 70.
[0018]
Further, by providing the detecting means 76 at the position (71a) of the peeling member 70 closest to the fixing member 61, paper jam can be more reliably prevented.
Since the peeling member 70 receives heat from the fixing member 61, the portion where the temperature rises most is the portion closest to the fixing member 61, and the sticking jam phenomenon easily occurs in this portion.
Therefore, by providing the detecting means 76 at the position of the peeling member 70 closest to the fixing member 61, the toner image surface is more securely prevented from sticking to the peeling member 70, and the paper jam is more reliably prevented. Can be prevented.
Further, the cooling means 90 for forcibly cooling the peeling member 70 when the temperature of the peeling member 70 is determined to be a value exceeding the predetermined value by the control means 80 is provided. After cooling, the recording medium can be promptly supplied to the press contact portion N.
[0019]
Further, since the central portion 71a of the peeling member 70 is bulged in an arc shape toward the upstream side in the recording medium moving direction as compared with the both end portions 71b, the recording medium is gradually moved from the central portion in the width direction to both end portions. And smooth peeling.
[0020]
Although the embodiments of the present invention have been described above, the present invention is not limited to the above embodiments, and can be appropriately modified and implemented within the scope of the present invention.
For example, the present invention is also applicable when the fixing member 61 is a belt.
