Abstract
Description
【0001】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to an image expansion / reduction apparatus, method, and program for removing high-frequency components in a process of decoding image data.
[0002]
[Prior art]
A variety of image data compression technologies are defined as international standard formats. Here, the method will be briefly described using JPEG as an example.
JPEG is an irreversible data compression method in which a part of image data is discarded in order to compress data. Encoding is performed in the following procedure.
1. Divide the image into square blocks. The size of this block determines the amount of DCT (discrete cosine transform) calculation. The square has a size of 8 pixels × 8 pixels.
2. Apply a two-dimensional DCT to the block to convert time components to frequency components. 3. Quantization is performed on each element of the block. The quantization is performed using a quantization table. This clarifies the difference in importance for each frequency.
4. Entropy coding is performed on the block. The entropy coding is a method of reducing the amount of information by assigning a short code to a symbol with a high appearance frequency and a long code to a symbol with a low appearance frequency. Run-length coding is an example of entropy coding.
Decoding is performed by performing the above operation in reverse order. FIG. 5 shows an example of the decoding process.
[0003]
DCT and inverse DCT are represented by
[0004]
(Equation 1)
[0005]
The quantization uses a quantization table having 8 × 8 elements. If the elements of the quantization table are represented by Q kl and the elements of the DCT matrix before and after quantization are R kl and r kl , respectively, quantization and inverse quantization can be written as
[0006]
(Equation 2)
[0007]
The DCT transform used in JPEG is one of the so-called orthogonal transforms, and other orthogonal transforms include sine transform, Fourier transform, Hartley transform, Walsh-Hadamard transform, Haar transform, Slant transform, Karhunen-Loeve transform and so on.

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
The conventional JPEG decompression method has the following problems.
In a decompression method using DCT such as JPEG, it is necessary to decompress all data of the original image, and it is necessary to perform a reduction process after decompression. In addition, the DCT operation involves many complicated cos operations and sums of products, and it takes a long time to decompress.
The present invention proposes a method for reducing JPEG images by reducing unnecessary data at the time of decompression and reducing the amount of data in the process of decompression and decompression of JPEG images, thereby reducing decompression time and reducing image quality degradation. The purpose is to:

As described above, by removing unnecessary high-frequency components in the middle of the expansion processing, 0s increase in the contents of the quantized DCT matrix, so that the number of multiplication operations decreases in the inverse DCT processing, and as a result, the expansion speed is improved. . Also, there is an effect that the larger the reduction ratio, the higher the elongation speed. Further, when the image is reduced, the image mainly includes low-frequency components as data. 【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the first, fourth, and seventh aspects of the present invention, the reproducibility of data is reduced by discarding a part of data in the decoding process for compressed data using orthogonal transform. At the expense of increased processing speed.

According to the second, fifth, and eighth aspects of the present invention, the number of data to be used for decoding is made a function of the reduction ratio, thereby improving the processing speed according to the reduction ratio.

According to the third, sixth and ninth aspects of the present invention, the low frequency part of the data is used for decoding by linking the DCT transform with the number of data used for decoding which is a function of the reduction ratio. High-frequency components that do not significantly affect the visual sense of an object can be efficiently discarded. This also improves processing speed.
