本発明は、複写機、ファクシミリ、プリンタ等の電子写真プロセスにおける現像装置、この現像装置を備えたプロセスカートリッジおよび画像形成装置に関するものである。

昨今の現像装置に使用される現像剤、トナーは高画質化のために数μmレベルまで小粒径化されており、現像剤を収容するケーシングを構成する部品間の嵌合面精度を高めたり、ネジ止めを行うだけでは、現像剤漏れを防止することが難しくなってきている。
このような状況に対応するため、嵌合面の精度を向上させ密封部品などを駆使し、さらにはネジ止めなどを実施することで密封性を確保している。しかし、ケーシングの面精度にも限界があり、個々に精度補正で対応するなど非常に手間が掛かっている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
複写機、ファクシミリ、プリンタ等の電子写真プロセスにおけるケーシング嵌合部の現像剤漏れは、ケーシングの精度を嵌合させる相手部品との精度に嵌合で合わせる構成となっているために、ケーシングの面精度にも限界があり、個々に精度補正対応するなど非常に手間が掛かっている。
部品を製造する工程が多数個取りで行われる場合などには、精度を合わせ込む生産準備に時間が掛かる。また一度精度が出たとしても成形時に公差内で部品寸法、反り精度がばらつくことがあり、ばらつき具合により、現像剤が漏れてしまう場合がある。
そこで本発明の目的は、上記の問題点を解決するために、複写機、ファクシミリ、プリンタ等の電子写真プロセスにおける現像装置のケーシングを代表する個々の部品嵌合面の密封性を高め、嵌合面からの現像剤漏れが発生する恐れのない現像装置、これを備えたプロセスカートリッジおよび画像形成装置を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
前記の課題を解決するために、請求項1記載の発明では、ケーシングとこのケーシングに嵌合して組み付ける相手部品との嵌合部に、現像剤漏れを防止するために、半固形物質を充填し貯める空間を有する現像装置を最も主要な特徴とする。
請求項2記載の発明では、前記ケーシング側に半固形物質を充填し貯める空間を有する請求項1記載の現像装置を主要な特徴とする。
請求項3記載の発明では、前記ケーシングと前記相手部品間に、充填した半固形物質のはみ出しを確認するための確認空間が設けられている請求項1または2記載の現像装置を主要な特徴とする。
請求項4記載の発明では、前記嵌合部の半固形物質を貯めるための前記空間に滑剤が充填されている請求項1または2記載の現像装置を主要な特徴とする。
請求項5記載の発明では、前記ケーシングおよび前記空間内に、ケーシングの射出成形用金型に用いるエジェクタピンの先端の当接部、及び入れ子段差を設けることを特徴とする。換言すれば、成形品の空間内に対応する位置にエジェクタピンの先端部が位置するように金型を構成すると共に、該空間内に対応する位置に入れ子と金型本体との境目が位置するように金型を構成する。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、図面により本発明の実施の形態を詳細に説明する。図1は本発明による現像装置の実施の形態をケーシング側嵌合面に空間を設けた構成として示す概略図である。図1において、ケーシング1の上部の嵌合部Aには半固形物質を充填し貯める溝状の空間2が設けられる。
図2はケーシング1の上部の嵌合部Aに設けた空間2内に相手部品を嵌合した状態を示す上面図である。嵌合部Aには相手部品3が嵌合される。この実施の形態では、嵌合部Aがケーシング1の上部にあり、その内壁に空間2を設ける構成としているが、嵌合する相手部品3側の対応する周壁に同様の溝状の空間2を設けることも可能である。
空間A内に相手部品3を嵌合した後に半固形物質を空間2の一方開口から充填すると、この半固形物質は充填された半固形物質のはみ出しを確認するための確認空間として役立つ逆側の穴4から出てくる。
半固形物質が逆側の穴4から出てきたら充填終了とすることで、空間2を半固形物質で埋めたことになり、嵌合面からのケーシングの内側にある現像剤5の漏れを防止することができる。

また、本発明のケーシング1、或いは相手部品3に空間2を設けることにより、これらの部品を射出成形する際の金型の設計自由度を高めることが可能となる。即ち、金型には、成形品を突き出すためのエジェクタピンを設けたり、入れ子を設けるが、エジェクタピンの場合には突き出し時にピン先端が成形品に当接するため、ピン先端の形状が成形品に転写される不具合がある。本発明では、ピン先端を空間2内に当接するように金型を設計することにより、突き出し後が成形品の重要な部分に転写されることが無くなる。また、入れ子を用いる場合の段差を空間2内に設定することにより、入れ子段差が成形品の主要部分に転写される不具合も防止できる。このように、空間2の形状内部にエジェクタピン当接部、入れ子段差を設けることによって、段差の大きさなど細かい調整を実施する必要がなくなる。
換言すれば、成形品の空間内に対応する位置にエジェクタピンの先端部が位置するように金型を構成すると共に、該空間内に対応する位置に入れ子と金型本体との境目が位置するように金型を構成する。

また、嵌合部A内の空間2内に充填する半固形物質としては、滑剤(シーラント、グリース等)が充填されている。
ケーシング1又は相手部品3の何れかの嵌合面に半固形物質を充填する溝状の空間2を設け、空間2内に半固形物質を充填することで、ケーシング1の面精度などに影響されることなく、経時的に嵌合面からの現像剤漏れを防止することができる。
また予め設けてある空間2に半固形物質を封入する構成とすることで相手部品3のばらつきにより漏れを生じる原因となる隙間が発生したとしても、半固定物質が浸透(充填)してこれを埋めるため、確実に嵌合部Aからの現像剤漏れを防止することができるため、複写機、ファクシミリ、プリンタ等の電子写真プロセスにおける現像装置の現像剤漏れを防止することができる。
なお、本発明の現像装置は、現像装置単体にも適用できるが、現像装置を他の周辺部品と一体化したプロセスカートリッジに含まれる現像装置にも適用することができる。
また、上記構成を備えた現像装置、またはプロセスカートリッジを備えた画像形成装置も本発明の技術的範囲に含まれるものである。

以上説明したように、請求項1によれば、ケーシングと嵌合する相手部品との空間に充填物を容易に注入することができる。
