ところで、近年、自動車のダッシュパネル内に配置されるメータユニットは、各種表示をアナログ指針表示するためのムーブメントの小型化や、あるいは各種表示をデジタル表示するための液晶表示装置の採用等により薄型化が進んでいる。

本発明者らは、従来よりダッシュパネル裏側に形成され、かつ、見過ごされていた余剰空間がメータユニットの薄型化に伴って現実的に利用し得る空間となりつつあることに着目し、本発明に至った。

そして、本発明は、請求項1に記載したように、自動車のメータユニットの背面側に設けられた電子ユニット収納箱内に機能別に分けられた複数の電子ユニットボードを収納したことを特徴とする。

図1において、自動車の車体を横断するようにリーンフォース11が配置されているとともに、ステアリングシャフト12,メータユニット13,ダッシュパネル14がリーンフォース11に支持されている。
ステアリングシャフト12には、ステアリングコラム14が軸通されているとともに、端部にステアリングホイール15が固定されている。また、メータユニット13の下方にはステアリングシャフト12に沿って電気接続箱16が配置されている。
