本発明は現像剤を収容し、開閉可能な排出口を有する現像剤カートリッジ及び前記現像剤カートリッジを装着して現像剤を現像剤受容部に供給する現像剤補給装置に関する。

【従来の技術】
従来、現像剤を収容する現像剤カートリッジから画像形成装置の現像剤収納部へ現像剤を補給する手段として、容器内部に螺旋状の突起を有する現像剤カートリッジを装置本体に対して略水平にセットし、現像剤カートリッジの中心軸を回転中心として回転させ現像剤カートリッジの現像剤排出口から現像剤を排出させ現像剤受容部に現像剤を補給するタイプや、容器内部にスクリューまたは傾斜面をもつ回転はねを設け、現像剤カートリッジを装置本体に対して略水平にセットし、現像剤カートリッジの中心軸を回転中心としてスクリューや回転はねを回転させ、若しくはスクリューや回転はねごと現像材カートリッジを回転させ現像剤カートリッジの現像剤排出口から現像剤を排出させ現像剤受容部に現像剤を補給するタイプのものがあった。しかし、上記タイプの補給方式は現像剤の飛散防止や、サードパーティ対策の為装着動作の工数が多く、補給作業に関して熟練しない作業者の場合そのための時間が多く取られ結果として画像形成装置のダウンタイムが多くなり生産性を損ねていた。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかし、従来の現像剤カートリッジは現像剤の飛散防止や、サードパーティ対策の為装着動作の工数が多く、補給作業に関して熟練しない作業者の場合そのための時間が多く取られ結果として画像形成装置のダウンタイムが多くなり生産性を損ねていた。

本発明は現像剤カートリッジにおける上記のような問題を解決することを課題とし、現像剤カートリッジを装着する際または取り外す際の工数削減を目的とする。

以上の構成を持つことにより、現像剤カートリッジをワンアクションでの取り付け、取り外しが可能なためカートリッジ交換の作業性を向上させ、ひいては画像形成装置本体の作業性を向上させる。

【発明の実施の形態】
(実施例1)
以下、本発明を適用した画像形成装置の一実施形態について図面を参照して説明する。

図1は本発明を適用した現像剤カートリッジの概略構成を示す斜視図である。

まず、図9を用いて複写機の概略構成について説明する。図9に示す複写機10は複写機本体11の上部に読み取り位置となる原稿台12上に原稿を自動的に送り込む自動原稿給送装置13を開閉可能に備えている。従って、前記読み取り位置となる原稿台12上への原稿のセットは、前記自動原稿給送装置13を用いて自動的に行ってもよいし、あるいはユーザーが前記自動原稿給送装置13を開閉させて原稿台12上に直接原稿をセットしてもよい。

前記原稿台12の下部には原稿の画像を読み取るための光学読み取り系14が配設されている。この光学読み取り系14は、前記原稿台12に沿って移動し該原稿台12上にセットされた原稿の画像面に光を照射する光源、その反射光(画像光)を画像読み込み装置14aへと導くミラー及びレンズ等を有している。画像読み込み装置14aで読み込まれた画像は電気的な信号に変換され、画像書き込み装置14bへ伝達され、画像読み込み装置14bは受け取った信号を元に感光ドラム15上に静電画像を形成する。

前記画像形成部の感光体ドラム15の周囲には、プロセス手段としての帯電手段16、現像手段17及びクリーニング手段18、さらには転写手段19等が配設されている。この画像形成部では、まず帯電手段16によって感光体ドラム15の表面が一様に帯電され、この感光体ドラム15上に前記画像書き込み装置14bによって読み取られた画像が照射されて潜像が形成される。そして、現像手段17によって前記潜像が現像されて感光体ドラム15上にトナー像が形成される。この画像形成動作と同期するようにしてシート材Sが送り込まれ、転写手段19によって感光体ドラム15上のトナー像が転写される。尚、転写後に感光体ドラム15上に残留したトナーはクリーニング手段18によって除去される。

前記シート材Sは、複写機本体11の下部に引き出し収納可能に装着されたシート材収容装置としてのカセット1、2、3,4に収容され、あるいは複写機本体11の側部(図3中右側)に着脱自在に装着された大容量デッキ5に収容されている。これら多種サイズのシート材Sは、個々に設けられた給送手段としてのピックアップローラ6及び給送ローラ対7によって選択的に給送されるようになっており、最上位から順次1枚づつ給送されるようになっている。該シート材Sは、搬送手段としての搬送ローラ対20、レジストローラ対21等によって前記画像形成部へと送り込まれ、前述したようにトナー像が転写される。転写後、前記シート材Sは搬送ベルト22によって定着手段23へと送り込まれ、前記トナー像が定着される。定着後、前記シート材Sは排出ローラ対24によって機外に排出される。

尚、ここで、前記シート材の両面に画像を記録形成する場合には、前記排出ローラ対24の手前側に配設されたフラッパーや、反転ローラ対等からなる反転搬送手段26によって、前記定着後のシート材Sの表裏面が反転されて再搬送路27に送り込まれ、搬送手段としての搬送ローラ対28〜31によって再び画像形成部へ給送されるようになっている。画像形成部に送り込まれたシート材Sは、前述したように転写・定着が行われた後、機外へと排出される。

また、複写機本体11内には画像形成のための現像剤を現像手段17に供給するための、現像剤が封入された現像剤カートリッジ8が現像手段17の略上方に設けられ、現像手段に必要な量だけ現像剤を供給する。

次に現像剤カートリッジ8および複写機本体11の現像剤カートリッジ8との接続に関わる構成を図1を用いて説明する。複写機本体11には現像剤カートリッジ8が複写機本体11に装着された際に、現像剤カートリッジ8がセットされるべき位置まで押し込まれたことを検知する位置検知センサー101が設けられる。また複写機本体11に現像剤カートリッジ8が装着された際に現像剤カートリッジ8が複写機本体11に対して自由に引き抜きが出来ないように位置を固定するためのロック板102が設けられる。ロック板102はラッチソレノイド103に直接もしくは図示しないリンクを介して接続され、電気的にラッチソレノイド103を駆動することによりロック板102をロック状態若しくは開放状態へと切り替え可能に構成される。複写機本体11若しくは現像剤カートリッジ8には現像剤カートリッジ8内の現像剤の残量を検知し、モニターする為の残量検知手段104が設けられる。図2に示すように複写機本体11上の操作パネルには前記残量検知手段104による残量情報を表示する為の表示部201が設けられる。図1に示す複写機本体11には現像剤カートリッジ収納部を覆うカバー105が設けられ、前記カバー105近傍には前記カバー105の開閉を検知するための開閉検知センサー106が設けられる。

次に以上の構成を持つ複写機本体11および現像剤カートリッジ8の各部の動作について詳細に説明をする。図3に示すように複写機本体11に現像剤カートリッジ8を装着する際は、現像剤カートリッジ8を現像剤カートリッジ収納部に押し込む。図4,図5に示すように現像剤カートリッジ8が収納部に押し込まれると押し込まれた状態であることを現像剤カートリッジ位置検知センサー101が検知し、その情報を複写機本体11に送る。複写機本体11はその情報を受け、ラッチソレノイド103に信号を送る。ラッチソレノイド103は信号を受けると直接あるいはリンクを介して接続されたロック板102を現像剤カートリッジ8を固定する為の位置に移動させる為に動作をする。ラッチソレノイド103は電源が入っていない場合でも位置保持機能があるため複写機本体11の電源が入っていない場合でも現像剤カートリッジ8を引き抜き不可能に位置を保持することが可能になる。

複写機本体11に装着された現像剤カートリッジ8内の現像剤残量が少なくなると、現像剤残量検知センサー104により複写機本体11に情報が送られる。複写機本体11は図2に示す表示部201に現像剤残量が減少したことを表示し、操作者に対して現像剤の残量が少なくなったことを伝え、現像剤カートリッジ8の交換を促す。操作者は表示部201の情報に従って図6に示す現像剤カートリッジ収納部のカバー105を開けるとカバー開閉検知センサー106によりカバー105が開けられたことが複写機本体11に伝えられ、図7に示すように複写機本体11はラッチソレノイド103を動作させ、ラッチソレノイド103に直接若しくはリンクを介して接続されたロック板102が現像剤カートリッジ8引き抜き可能になる位置にスライドし現像剤カートリッジ8が引き抜き可能になる。これによりカバーの開動作に連動してワンアクションでの現像剤カートリッジ8の取り外しが可能になる。

前記実施例1の現像材カートリッジが取り付けられる画像形成装置において、図8に示す前記現像剤カートリッジ収納部のカバー105が現像剤カートリッジの交換時以外に開けられ、複写機本体11内に操作者がアクセスすることを防止する為にカバー105内側に現像剤残量検知センサー104が交換時期であると判断するまでにカバー105を開けることが出来ないようにロック機構107を設ける。

(実施例3)
前記実施例1、2の現像材カートリッジが取り付けられる画像形成装置において、図1,図3に示すように前記現像材カートリッジ8には現像剤排出口81を通常密閉しているスライドシャッター82をシャッターを密閉方向に付勢するためのばね83が設けられている。現像剤カートリッジ8を交換する必要があるときに操作パネル上の表示部201に交換を促す表示をし、その指示に従って操作者が現像剤カートリッジ収納部のカバー105を開けることにより現像剤排出口のフランジ84を契合していたロック板102がラッチソレノイド103の切り替えにより退避し、スライドシャッター82を現像材排出口81を塞ぐ方向に付勢するばね83の反発力によって現像材カートリッジ8が取り外し方向に若干飛び出す。

【発明の効果】
以上により現像剤カートリッジの着脱時に関わる工数を削減し、容易に取り付け、取り外しが可能なためカートリッジ交換の作業性を向上させ、ひいては画像形成装置本体の作業性を向上させる。
