【従来の技術】
従来のペット用爪切りには梃子の構造を応用したハサミ型のものと、同じく梃子の構造を応用したギロチン型と呼ばれるものとがある。ハサミ型は構造は簡単ながら、その構造上、刃物部分に爪屑飛散防止カバーを装着することが難しく、爪屑が飛散してしまうことが難点とされてきた。またギロチン型のものは、爪屑カバーを装着することができるものの、その構造上大型であるため、飼い主が片手でたやすく操作することができないなど、小型のペットには不向きであるとされてきた。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
小犬・猫・ウサギ・ハムスター・リス・小鳥など、小型のペットは室内で飼うことが多いため、頻繁に爪を切る必要がある。その際、爪屑飛散防止カバーのない爪切りでは、室内に爪屑が飛び散ってしまい、飼い主にとっては爪切り作業が面倒かつ困難なものとなっていた。またギロチン型の大型の爪切りは小型のペットの爪を切るには取り回しが悪い、というのが現実である。つまり小型のペットに対して、片手で手軽に爪切り作業を施すことができ、簡単な構造でかつ爪屑飛散防止カバーを装着できるペット用爪切りを開発する必要がある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
ハサミ型爪切りは、ハサミの２枚の刃の部分をすり合わせることで爪を切る仕組みになっている。刃をすり合わせるとカバーが邪魔になってしまうため、刃にカバーを装着することができない。そこで、刃をすり合わせるのでなく、爪を左右から挟んで押し切るピンセット型の構造にすれば、刃全体を包み込んだカバーを装着できる。ピンセット型の構造とは、図１のように、梃子の原理を応用するのではなく、２つの刃で左右から爪を挟み込み、指の力だけで爪を切断するものである。

【実施例】
図５にあるように、ペットの爪を左右から挟み、押し切るような爪切りの構造にする。ペットの爪は、断面が丸くなっているために大型のペットでないかぎりハサミ型やギロチン型のような梃子の構造を応用しなくても、鋭い刃を使用することによって充分切断することが可能である。ピンセット型の爪切りは左右の刃がかみ合わせになっているだけなので、図５のごとく、刃を動かすときにカバーが邪魔にならないため、爪切り全体を包み込むような爪屑飛散防止カバーを付けることが可能となる。左右の刃の部分が開閉するため、カバーはゴム製・樹脂製・プラスティック製など、多少伸縮性のあるものを使用する。カバーは爪切り全体を覆っているので、切断したペットの爪はカバーの内側にたまり外部には飛散しない。

【発明の効果】
本発明による爪切りは、構造が簡単で、軽く、また小型であるため、手軽にペットの爪切り作業を行なうことができる。また爪屑飛散防止カバーの装着によって、爪屑が飛散しないため、室内でも爪切りを行なうことができる。本考案は以上のように、ペット用の爪切りの構造を根本的に改善する、画期的な効果を実現するものである。
