本発明は上記した従来の問題点を解決して、手数のかかるタッカー等による固定作業を必要とせずに、表皮材をアウターボックスに簡単に被覆することができるコンソールリッドの製造方法を提供するためになされたものである。

上記の課題を解決するためになされた本発明のコンソールリッドの製造方法は、表皮材の周縁部を折り返して巻き代部を縫製しておき、この表皮材をアウターボックスに被せたうえでアウターボックスの周縁部内側に形成された凹部に前記巻き代部を挿入して仮止めし、アウターボックスの内部に挿入されるインナーボックスのリップ部で前記巻き代部を凹部内に引き込むことにより、表皮材を緊張させて固定することを特徴とするものである。

以下に図面を参照しつつ本発明の好ましい実施形態を説明する。

図1に示すアウターボックス1はポリプロピレン等の樹脂製のもので、その表面にはウレタンフォーム、ポリエチレンフォーム等からなるパッド3が貼着されており、その裏面には補強用のリブ11と、インナーボックス4を取付けるためのボス部13とを備えている。リブ11はアウターボックス1の天井面16から内壁14の端部にまで延設されていて、リブ11の先端には内壁14との間に小さい凹部15を形成する係止片12が内壁全周に適宜設けられている。なおこの係止片12はリブ11から独立させた位置に設けることもできる。

以上に説明したように、本発明のコンソールリッドの製造方法によれば、表皮材の周縁部を折り返して縫製した巻き代部を、アウターボックスの周縁部内側に形成された凹部に挿入して仮止めし、インナーボックスのリップ部で前記巻き代部を凹部内に引き込むことにより固定するので、タッカー等の接合手段を用いることなく表皮材を容易にアウターボックスに固定することができる。従って熟練を要することなく外観に優れたコンソールリッドを製造できるようになり、作業効率を向上させて大幅なコストダウンを図ることができる。
