【0065】

TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a power supply device. In particular, the present invention relates to a power supply device having a step-up / step-down function.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2000-166223 discloses that in order to satisfy the demand for energy saving, the power efficiency is controlled regardless of the operation state of any of the PWM control method and the PFM control method. To be able to be further improved.
[0003]
[Patent Document 1]
Japanese Patent Application Laid-Open No. 2000-166223
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the shrinking of the power supply device, a current value at the time of boosting becomes an issue. It is known that the current value at the time of boosting is larger than that at the time of stepping down. For this reason, if the device is designed with the boost current as a target, the device size increases. In particular, the detection value at the time of occurrence of overcurrent becomes a problem, and if the detection value at the time of boosting is unified, the heat generation at the time of the overcurrent limiting operation at the time of voltage drop becomes large, and the device size also becomes large.
[0005]
In addition, when the power is turned on when the battery is running low, the battery is always boosted and the heat generation is increased. In a power supply device having a step-up / step-down function, there is a problem that if the overcurrent detection value at the time of boosting is unified, heat generation at the time of the overcurrent limiting operation at the time of stepping down increases.
[0006]
An object of the present invention is to provide a power supply device capable of further reducing heat generation and further reducing the device size.
[0007]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, a power supply according to the present invention has a battery, a function of stepping down and generating a predetermined voltage from a battery voltage, and a function of stepping up and generating a predetermined voltage from a battery voltage. A function of detecting a current overcurrent, a function of performing a current limiting operation at the time of an overcurrent, and a feature that the overcurrent detection value is a different set value at the time of step-down and at the time of step-up.
[0008]
Further, it is characterized by having a means for inhibiting the boosting operation when the power is turned on.
[0009]
Further, it is characterized by having a means for detecting the battery voltage, and a means for having a lower limit value for the boosting operation effective battery voltage, and for stopping the boosting function when detecting that the battery voltage is equal to or lower than the lower limit value. .
[0010]
In addition, the power supply device has means for detecting overheating, and has a means for stopping operation of the power supply device when overheating is detected.
[0011]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
The inventors have studied various related technologies. In order to output a voltage of 5 V, a battery voltage of at least 6 V is required, and an operation-guaranteed battery voltage range is generally 6 V or more. Conventional power supply devices do not have a boost function. However, the load on the battery has increased due to the idle stop mechanism and the like in recent years. In addition, it is required that the operation-guaranteed battery minimum voltage be reduced. For example, the minimum operation guarantee battery voltage is required to be 4.5V.
[0012]
For this reason, a conventional power supply device having only a step-down function cannot satisfy the above-mentioned required specifications, so that a step-up / step-down function is required.
