【0001】

[Problems to be solved by the invention]
However, in each of the first conventional example, the second conventional example shown in FIG. 8, the third conventional example shown in FIG. 10, and the fourth conventional example shown in FIG. In this method, the light transmitting surface of the optical component is rubbed and cleaned, so that if a hard foreign material is present on the light transmitting surface, there is a problem that the end face of the optical fiber is damaged.
[0017]
For this reason, if the end face of the optical fiber is damaged, the finish polishing must be performed again, which has been a factor of increasing the cost of an optical component that requires a low price.
[0018]
Further, in the fifth conventional example of the method of cleaning an optical element shown in FIG. 13, foreign matter is separated from the optical element at the time of ultrasonic cleaning. However, when the
[0019]
Therefore, the most inexpensive and primitive method is to wipe with a soft cloth or a piece of paper impregnated with ethanol, and then blow dry gas or the like onto the transmission surface of the optical component to remove residual ethanol and debris from the cloth or paper. The first prior art cleaning method continues to be commonly used.
[0020]
On the other hand, in the technical field of cleaning, a so-called dry ice blast method of performing cleaning by blowing dry ice snow is known. For example, in
[0021]
Therefore, the inventors have studied using the dry ice blasting technique disclosed in
[0022]
Furthermore, since the dry ice blasting method involves a temperature cycle of heating and cooling, when an optical component such as an optical connector in which an optical fiber is sealed and fixed with a large amount of resin is cleaned, the adhesive strength of the resin is reduced. Has deteriorated, and the optical fiber may fall off from the optical connector.
[0023]
The present invention has been devised in view of the above circumstances, and provides an optimal method of dry ice blasting for a light transmitting surface of an optical component to damage the light transmitting surface of the optical component. In addition, it is an object of the present invention to quickly remove contaminants on the light transmitting surface and fine particles suspended and decomposed and released from the light transmitting surface and impurities dissolved in carbon dioxide.
[0024]

It is further desirable to pulsate the vacuum pressure. This is because they facilitate and ensure their removal.

Next, after spraying dry ice, it is desirable to evacuate the cleaning chamber to a vacuum. This is because the carbon dioxide vaporized from the dry ice is released first and the suspended fine particles and dissolved impurities can be quickly removed. Also, it is more desirable to pulsate this vacuum pressure, which facilitates and ensures their removal.
[0073]
It is most preferable that the liquefied carbon dioxide gas container 1 uses purified liquefied carbon dioxide gas. 2 A storage container may be used. This may be either a gas collecting container or a liquid collecting container. This is because particles can be removed by passing impurities removing means such as the

If the vacuum is less than 0.1 Torr, the vacuum suction device becomes expensive, and furthermore, only the floating impurities are sucked, so that no more is necessary. On the other hand, if the pressure exceeds 10 Torr, the degree of vacuum is too low, so that all the floating impurities cannot be sucked, and the impurities adhere to the

From the above results, the average value of the breaking strength of the sample in which the entire optical connector was put into the cleaning chamber was 0.89 kg, and the average value of the breaking load of the sample in which only the ferrule tip surface and its vicinity were put into the cleaning chamber was 1 kg. .73 Kg, and it can be seen that the sample in which the entire optical connector was put into the cleaning chamber clearly had deteriorated optical fiber strength. This is considered to be because the adhesive was degraded when the whole was put in, and the fixing strength of the optical fiber was thereby degraded.
[0130]
From this result, when cleaning an optical component such as an optical connector in which an optical fiber is fixed with a large amount of adhesive, only the portion requiring cleaning is put into the cleaning chamber as described in

Table 4 shows the results. The numbers in the table are obtained by counting the number of the samples to which the watermark was attached in 100 samples.
[0134]
In the sample cleaned one by one, 8 out of 100 water marks were observed on the previously cleaned surface. Although this is within the allowable range, no water mark was generated in the case of simultaneous printing on both surfaces, and it was found that it is desirable to perform the processing on both surfaces simultaneously.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, as a method of cleaning the light transmitting surface of the optical component, fine powder dry ice generated by injecting carbon dioxide gas is sprayed only on the light transmitting surface and the vicinity thereof, whereby the optical component is cleaned. The contaminants on the light transmitting surface and the fine particles decomposed and released from the light transmitting surface and the impurities dissolved in the carbon dioxide gas can be quickly removed without damaging the light transmitting surface.
