この発明は、ガスメータ及び基板保護カバーに係わり、特に、ガス流入口とガス流出口との間を連通するメータ本体内部に形成された流路と、電子部品を搭載する回路基板と、該回路基板の背面側に装着される基板保護カバーとを備えたガスメータ及び当該ガスメータに用いられる基板保護カバーに関する。

【従来の技術】
従来からガス使用量測定を機械的に行う膜式ガスメータが知られていたが、近年、軽量化等の観点からガス使用量測定を電気的に行う電子式ガスメータも普及しつつある。ところが、膜式ガスメータとは異なり電子式ガスメータでは、ガス使用量が電気的に計測されるので、多くの内蔵電池を必要とし、これらの電池は専用の電気ホルダーにて固定されていた。このため、部品点数増加によりコストアップを招くことになっていた。これについて、以下に図面を用いて説明する。

図3(A)及び図3(B)はそれぞれ、主に膜式ガスメータに用いられている電池固定構造を概略的に示す平面図及び側面図である。図4(A)は、従来の電子式ガスメータの外形を概略的に示す正面図であり、図4(B)は、図4(A)のZZ線断面図である。

図3(A)及び図3(B)に示すように、膜式ガスメータに用いられている電池固定構造では、図示しないメータ筐体に収容される回路基板91上に電池92が搭載される。膜式ガスメータではガス使用量計測は基本的に機械式に行われるので、それほど電池は必要とされないため、電池交換はないことを前提として電池92は回路基板91に対して半田93a、93b、93c、93dにより固定される。

一方、電子式ガスメータでは、ガス使用量計測のために、電源を必要とする流量検出素子やマイクロコンピュータが用いられるため、多くの電池を必要とする。この場合、電池交換の可能性も考慮されて、電池は専用の電池ホルダーにて固定される。詳しくは、図4(A)及び図4(B)に示すように、従来の電子式ガスメータ9は、その上面にガス流入口92a及びガス流出口92bを有している。ガス流入口92aから流入したガスは、メータ本体部91内に形成された流路を経て、ガス流出口92b側に流出していく。このメータ本体部91には、遮断弁装置等の各内部電子機器が所定位置に配置される。また、上記内部電子機器や流量検出、保安等の各種処理を行うマイクロコンピュータが内蔵される。

マイクロコンピュータやガス使用量を表示するLCD等が搭載される回路基板94は、メータ本体部91に突設された複数のボス96b、96c等にネジ94a、94b、94c、94dにてネジ止め固定される。また、マイクロコンピュータ、LCD、その他の内部電子機器に駆動電力を供給する複数個の電池92は、その外形に合わせて折り曲げられた板状の電池ホルダー95に保持され、メータ本体部91にネジ95a、95bにてネジ止め固定される。なお、上記回路基板94の前面に覆設される正面カバーや背面カバー等はここでは省略されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、従来の電子式ガスメータでは、複数の電池92をメータ本体部91に固定するために専用の電池ホルダー95を必要としていた。このため、部品点数が多くなり、コストアップを招くことになっていた。また、電池ホルダー95を単独でメータ本体部91に取り付けなければならず、作業効率も悪い。さらに、メータの構造的特徴を考慮して電池配置が行われていないため、空スペースが無駄になっていた。

よって本発明は、上述した現状に鑑み、空スペースを有効利用しつつ、かつ専用ホルダーを用いることなく電池を固定することを可能にして、コストダウンや、電池の取付作業効率向上を図ったガスメータを提供することを課題としている。

上記課題を解決するためになされた請求項1記載の発明は、ガス流入口とガス流出口との間を連通するメータ本体内部に形成された流路と、電子部品を搭載する回路基板と、該回路基板の背面側に装着される基板保護カバーとを備えたガスメータにおいて、前記基板保護カバーは、当該背面側に、当該基板保護カバー自体に前記電子部品への電源供給を行う電池を固定する電池固定部を有していることを特徴とするガスメータに存する。

以下、本発明の実施の形態を図面に基づいて説明する。
図1(A)は、本発明のガスメータとしての電子式ガスメータの一実施の形態を示す正面図であり、図1(B)は、図1(A)の電子式ガスメータのXX線断面図である。ただし、図1(A)及び図1(B)は、正面カバーを取り外した状態を示す。また、図2(A)及び(B)はそれぞれ、図1(A)及び図1(B)の電子式ガスメータを構成する基板保護カバーの側面図及び背面図であり、図2(C)は、図2(B)の基板保護カバーのYY線断面図である。

図1(A)の正面図に示すように、本電子式ガスメータ1は、例えば、アルミダイキャスト製の箱型状のメータ本体部11を含む。このメータ本体部11の上面には、ガス供給源側及びガス消費側に至るそれぞれのガス配管に連結される円筒状のガス流入口12a及びガス流出口12bが設けられている。

マイクロコンピュータは、流路13に設けられた流量センサからの流量検出出力に基づいてガス使用量を算出してこれをLCD32上に表示させたり、保安情報などを同じくLCD32上に表示させたりする。上記LCD32は、メータ本体部11の図示しない正面カバーに設けられた図示しない表示窓を介して視認することができる。つまり、回路基板31は、正面カバー内壁に沿って設けられている。

この回路基板31は、その背面側に樹脂製の基板保護カバー41が装着されている。この基板保護カバー41は、図1(B)、図2(A)及び(B)に示すように、メータ本体部11と回路基板31のパターン配線部との絶縁を図るためのもので、回路基板31の背面全体を覆う平面部41aとこの平面部41aの縁全体に形成された突壁41bから構成される。この突壁41bは、回路基板31の背面に接するようにして回路基板31に装着される。この回路基板31及び基板保護カバー41は、ボス17等を利用して、メータ本体部11に固定される。

また、上記基板保護カバー41は、その背面側に、その基板保護カバー41自体に電池15を固定する電池固定部41cが設けられている。上述したように、回路基板31には、LCD32が搭載されるため、回路基板31は、正面カバーの内壁に沿って設けられている。また、流路13が設けられているため、メータ本体部11は、正面−背面間の奥行きはある程度、存在する。

従って、以上のように、回路基板31の背面側に設けられる基板保護カバー41のさらに背面側の電池固定部41cにより電池15を固定することにより、回路基板31の背面側の空いている空間に電池15を収めることができ、空スペースを有効利用することができる。

さらに、基板保護カバー41に電池固定部41cを持たせることにより、基板保護カバー41とは別体に電池固定部41cを設ける必要がなく、コストダウンを図ることができる。しかも、電池固定部41cが基板保護カバー41自体に電池15を固定することにより、電池15が固定された状態で基板保護カバー41を、メータ本体部11に取り付けることができ、電池15の取付作業効率を図ることができる。

上記電池固定部41cは、詳しくは、図2(A)〜(C)に示すように、箱型状に形成され、電池15の長手方向と平面部41aとが直交して、4つの電池15が収納できるようになっている。また、電池固定部41cの背面側には、開口部41dが設けられおり、この開口部41dから電池15を、簡単に、電池固定部41c内に収容できるようになっている。

また、電池固定部41cには、図2(C)に示すように、電池15が開口部41dから脱落しないようにする脱落防止用の爪41e(係止手段)が設けられている。さらに、上記爪41eの上下側の左右側面に、切欠部41fを設けることにより、爪41eが設けられている電池固定部41cの左右側面に弾性を持たせている。このように、電池固定部41cを箱型状にしたり、爪41eを設けることにより、電池15の電池固定部41cに対する固定強度を高くすることができる。

さらに、上記電池固定部41cは、図1(A)に示すように、正面から見てU字状の流路13に囲まれる部位に、収納され、より一層、空スペースを有効利用することができる。なお、図中各電池15の正極及び負極に接続される電池接続端子は省略されている。

また、上述した実施形態では、基板保護カバー41の平面部41aと電池15の長手方向が直交するように収納して、固定する箱型状の電池固定部41cを設けていた。しかしながら、この場合に限らず、電池固定部41cの形状を、例えば、平面部41aと電池15の長手方向が平行となるように収納して、固定するような形状にすることも考えられる。

【発明の効果】
以上説明したように、請求項1及び5記載の発明によれば、回路基板の背面側に設けられる基板保護カバーのさらに背面側の電池固定部により電池を固定することにより、回路基板の背面側の空いている空間に電池を収めることができる。
さらに、基板保護カバーに電池固定部を持たせることにより、基板保護カバーとは別体に電池固定部を設ける必要がない。しかも、電池固定部が基板保護カバー自体に電池を固定することにより、電池が固定された状態で基板保護カバーを、メータ本体部に取り付けることができる。このため、空スペースを有効利用しつつ、かつ専用ホルダーを用いることなく電池を固定することを可能にして、コストダウンや、電池の取付作業効率向上を図ったガスメータ及び当該ガスメータに用いられる基板保護カバーを得ることができる。
