歯科治療において、歯内療法の根管治療の一過程で、象牙質内に侵入した細菌,異物など軟化牙質を削除するため、根管を広げる操作、いわゆる、根管拡大作業がある。この根管拡大作業は、移管口、すなわち、歯冠歯髄と根管歯髄との移行部を、ファイルやリーマーなどを用いて漏斗状に拡大する操作で、根尖部まで器械や薬剤の到達を容易にするために行うもので手動式、電動式等種々あるが、インスツルメント(ファイル)を超音波振動させて根管させて根管拡大を行うものもある。

本発明は、上述のごとき実情に鑑みてなされたもので、特に、ダイヤモンドの切削性を効果的に利用して、かつ、湾曲した根管を効果的に拡大できるようにした根管拡大用インスツルメント(ファイル)を提供する事を目的としてなされたものである。

請求項1の発明は、超音波振動子を内蔵したハンドピースの先端部に着脱自在に装着し、先端部を根管内に挿入して超音波振動させ、根管の拡大を行う根管拡大用インスツルメントであって、該インスツルメントは、屈曲弾性を有する金属部材から成り、表面に離散的にダイヤモンドが電着されていることを特徴としたものである。

図1(A)、図1(B)は、それぞれ本発明による根管拡大用インスツルメント(ファイル)の例を説明するための図で、図中、20は根管拡大インスツルメント、21は例えばSUS等の屈曲弾性を有する金属性のファイル母材で、該ファイル母材21の表面には、ダイヤモンド22が離散的に電着されている。ダイヤモンド22の電着模様は、電着の際に用いるマスクの模様によって決まるが、屈曲性をよくするために、例えば、少なくとも、軸方向にダイヤモンド層が連続しないように、換言すれば、図1(A)に示すように、軸方向に離散するように電着し、更には、図1(B)に示すように、同方向にも離散するように電着する。

【発明の効果】
以上の説明から明らかなように、本発明によると屈曲弾性を有する金属母材の表面にダイヤモンドを離散的に電着して根管拡大用インスツルメント(ファイル)としたので、ダイヤモンドによって金属母材の屈曲弾力性が損われるようなことはなく、従って、湾曲した根管内に挿入して使用することが可能であり、しかも、ダイヤモンドによる切削性能の優れた根管拡大用のファイルを提供することができる。
