[0014]
As described above, in the array transmission / reception system equipped with the array antenna and the array transmission / reception device, the influence of mutual coupling between antenna elements and the difference in characteristics between ports in the transmission device and the reception device become problems. As a practical example, in a digital beamformer equipped with an array transmission / reception system, these problems make it difficult to form a desired beam. Further, in the estimation of the direction of arrival using the array transmission / reception system, an error occurs in the angle estimation value due to these problems.
[0015]
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to provide an array transmission / reception system equipped with an array antenna and an array transmission / reception apparatus, which has an effect of mutual coupling between antenna elements, a port in a transmitter and a receiver. It is an object of the present invention to provide a calibration method for removing the influence of the characteristic difference between the two. In particular, the present invention provides an antenna configuration (active switch antenna) and a compensation algorithm for realizing a self-calibration function on-site (a general environment for operating an array transmission / reception system).
[0016]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The present invention relates to a self-calibration method for an array transceiver, and the object of the present invention is to measure a scattering matrix of an array transceiver system, and based on the scattering matrix, a scattering matrix S of an array antenna, a transmission matrix of an array transmitter. This is achieved by determining Hs and the transfer matrix Hr of the array receiver, and calculating and calibrating the transmission compensation matrix Cs and the reception compensation matrix Cr according to a predetermined formula.
[0017]
The present invention also relates to an array antenna, and the above object of the present invention is attained by providing a switch for short-circuiting or opening the antenna impedance.
[0018]
The present invention proposes an active switch antenna and a compensation algorithm that are optimal for simultaneously and on-site compensating for the influence of mutual coupling between antenna elements and the difference in characteristics between ports of a transmitter and a receiver in an array transmission / reception system. By measuring the scattering matrix when the array transmitting / receiving system is considered as a multi-port circuit and the scattering matrix when the antenna impedance viewed from the array feeder (surface position) is shorted or opened, the compensation matrix is turned on and turned on at the same time. Calculate on site.
[0019]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
The present invention proposes a new calibration method for an array transmission / reception system equipped with an array antenna and an array transmission / reception, which eliminates the effects of mutual coupling between antenna elements and the effects of differences in characteristics between ports in a transmitter and a receiver. In particular, we propose an active switch antenna, which is an array antenna suitable for the calibration method, and a compensation algorithm for realizing the self-calibration function. By mounting the self-calibration function of the present invention in an array transmission / reception system, for example, the beam forming accuracy of a digital beamformer and the angle estimation accuracy of arrival direction estimation can be drastically improved.

The first embodiment of FIG. 1 is an example in which switch means 101 are provided in parallel at a wavelength of λ / 4 from the end of the antenna. When the switch is turned on, the impedance is infinite (open state) as viewed from the array feeder, and the switch is turned on. Off indicates the impedance state of the antenna itself. The second embodiment shown in FIG. 2 is an example in which the switch means 102 is provided in series at a wavelength λ / 4 from one end of the antenna, where switch-off indicates a short-circuit state and switch-on indicates the impedance state of the antenna itself. In the first and second embodiments, the arrangement positions of the switch means 101 and 102 are limited to the wavelength λ / 4 from the ends, so when the wavelength λ changes, the switch arrangement is performed based on the wavelength. The installation position also needs to be changed.
[0025]
Further, the third embodiment of FIG. 3 is an example in which the switch means 103 is provided in series at one end of the antenna, where switch-off indicates an open state and switch-on indicates the impedance state of the antenna itself. The fourth embodiment of FIG. 4 is an example in which the switch means 104 is provided in parallel at the end of the antenna, where switch-on indicates a short-circuit state and switch-off indicates the impedance state of the antenna itself. An antenna having the above-described function is referred to as an active switch antenna in the present invention.

【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, it is possible to simultaneously and on-site compensate for the influence of mutual coupling between antenna elements and the difference in characteristics between ports of a transmitter and a receiver in an array transmission / reception system. The effect of the present invention is apparent from the evaluation of the DOA estimation error shown in FIG.
[0034]
Since the present invention enables on-site calibration, there is no need for a large-scale measurement system and physically accurate measurement, for example, in an anechoic chamber. In addition, it is possible to follow the temperature characteristics of the transceiver and the change with time. Further, according to the active switch antenna having the switch means as in the present invention, it is most suitable for self-calibration in an array transmitting / receiving system.
