Description

The present invention relates to a method for manufacturing an electrical connector, and more particularly, to a shield housing and an insulating base.

While information and technology are evolving at a rapid rate, electrical connectors are constantly being improved and are becoming more and more efficient. Having the desire to transmit information at higher data rates causes significant changes in the interface. At the same time, miniaturization of electronic components requires miniaturization of connectors and compact arrangement of terminals. When the terminals are arranged more compactly, severe electromagnetic interference (EMI) is caused when transmitting electrical signals. In the case of high-density mounted electrical connectors, small electromagnetic interference generated from other external electronic devices has a serious adverse effect on the transmission of electrical signals. When transmitting an electric signal, in order to prevent the electric signal passing through from radiating to other electronic devices or preventing noise from other signal sources, the contact portion of the electric connector, especially the high-density mounting electric connector, is usually provided. Surrounded by a metal shield housing. Related techniques are referenced in U.S. Patent Nos. 6,322,396 and 6,371,809, which disclose that each shield housing is assembled around an insulating base. It is disclosed that. In practical applications, external forces may cause the shield housing to separate or loosen from the electrical connector. This cannot effectively shield the electrical connector. In addition, since the above-mentioned shield housing is single and manufactured independently, it is difficult to automate and operate the subsequent process. Further, the production efficiency cannot be improved.
U.S. Patent No. 6,322,396 US Pat. No. 6,371,809

In addition, a locking hole 108 is provided at the front end of the projection 107.

In step 2, the shield housing 12 which is a rectangular frame is provided. The shield housing 12 includes an opening 120 and a matching portion 122 provided on a side plate 121 of the opening 120. The step includes a step a in which a plate-shaped metal is placed between an upper mold and a lower mold (not shown); a step b in which an opening 120 is drawn in the center of the plate-shaped metal; A matching portion 122, which is a substantially rectangular opening, is installed by impact forging in the side plate portion 121 around the upper portion 120 and between the upper die and the lower die, and is locked to one side of the side plate portion 121 adjacent to the opening 120. A step 123 in which a window 123 is installed and ground pins 124 project from both side edges of the side plate portion 121 to directly connect a continuous strip (not shown) to a side edge 125 below the opening 120; Is folded and installed to the side surface of the opening 120 to be coplanar therewith.

The bent portion 132 is in contact with the bottom surface of the main body 101. Since the welded portion 133 protrudes from the bottom surface of the main body 101, it is electrically connected to a circuit board (not shown). Then, the shield housing 12 is bent and separated from one end of the continuous slit, and assembled on the insulating base 10. The contact plate 102 of the insulating base 10 is housed in the opening 120. The two ends of the shield housing 12 are housed in the frame 106 of the insulating base 10.
