In this case, the transition line 23 substantially corresponds to the tip of the finger 20, and the natural nail tip 22 is a portion of the natural nail extending beyond the fingertip.

The tip 12 is decorated with a continuous opaque decoration. As used herein, "continuous opacity" means a decoration (primarily by color or shading) without transitions or discontinuities. That is, the tip 12 can be painted with an opaque paint 15, such as white, to resemble a French manicure, while the base 11 remains substantially transparent. However, as long as the base 11 is substantially transparent, an additional design 14 can be applied over the base 11 and the tip 12 to improve the appearance of the nail.

In another embodiment shown in FIGS. 4 and 5, the dividing line 13a between the base 11 and the tip 12 is inclined with respect to the transition line 23 of the natural nail. In other words, the parting line 13a starts at the transition line 23 on one side of the cover 10, but extends inward toward the natural nail base 21 as the parting line crosses the cover. Again, the tip 12 is preferably painted with a white opaque paint 15, while the base 11 remains substantially transparent to provide the appearance of a modified French manicure.

To adhere the nail cover 10 to the natural fingernails, a translucent pink adhesive 18 shown in FIG. 3 is applied to the nail base 11 of the cover 10 in a conventional manner. The adhesive is preferably ethyl cyanoacrylate, but other adhesives may be used. Thereafter, the nail cover 10 is placed on the natural nail base 21 of the finger 20, as shown in FIGS. The natural nail tip 22 extends outward below the tip 12 but cannot be seen through the cover 10 due to the opaque nail tip 12. However, because the nail base 11 is substantially transparent, the natural nail base 21 is visible through the cover 10. In this way, the artificial nail cover 10 can resemble a natural nail. It is preferable to apply a transparent topcoat sealer 16 over the entire artificial nail for the purpose of protection.

FIGS. 6 to 8 show another embodiment of the invention in the form of an artificial nail tip 30. The artificial nail tip 30 is similar to the entire cover 10 shown in FIGS. 1 to 5, but the tip is attached only to the outer end of the natural nail base 21 as shown in FIGS. . The artificial nail tip 30 is made of transparent ABS and preferably includes a nail tip 31 and a nail base 32. The size and shape of the base 32 of the tip 30 correspond only to the distal end of the natural nail base 21 and are attached to the end of the nail base 21 and the nail tip 22 of the fingernail. Again, the tip 31 is painted opaque and resembles a French manicure, but the base remains substantially transparent. The tip 31 and the base 32 are separated by a dividing line 34, which corresponds to the transition line 23 of the natural nail from the natural nail base 21 to the natural nail tip 22. Again, the dividing line 32 may be inclined with respect to the transition line 23, as described in FIGS. 4 and 5, and the decorative design 35 may be air-brushed or otherwise provided with the tip 31 and the base. 32 can be applied.

As shown in FIG. 8, the nail tip 30 is attached to the natural nail using an adhesive such that the tip just enters and extends into the natural nail base to provide a long natural nail appearance. At this point, the translucent acrylic filler 36 has been applied over the natural nail base 21 to create a smooth transition into the nail tip 30. The filler 36 is a general powder material, mixed with a liquid solvent, and applied to a nail using a brush. Thereafter, the filler rapidly cures to a translucent solid coating. Thereafter, the entire natural nail and the entire nail tip 30 are covered by a layer of translucent acrylic 37 to provide a shiny and attractive appearance and to improve the appearance of the design layer 32.

As with the nail cover 10 described above, the natural nail 21 is visible through the nail tip 30 because the base 32, filler 36, and outer acrylic layer are all transparent. Similarly, since the tip 31 is opaque, the natural nail tip 22 becomes invisible when the artificial nail tip 30 is attached. The result is beautiful nails in the form of a French manicure that looks very natural and attractive.

Referring to FIGS. 9 and 10, where the same components have the same reference numerals, another embodiment of the present invention is shown. The artificial nail cover 40 shown in FIGS. 9 and 10 is similar to the entire cover 10 of FIGS. 1 to 5. However, in addition to the base 11 and the tip 12, the cover 40 is provided with an opaque crescent-shaped half-moon 42 on the side opposite to the tip. That is, the cover 40 comprises an opaque crescent-shaped crescent 42 at its proximal end, an opaque claw tip 12 at its distal end opposite the crescent, and a substantially It includes a clear and transparent nail base 11 and a dividing line 13 between the nail base and the nail tip. Further, the crescent-shaped half-moon portion 42 of the artificial nail cover 40 is preferably covered with a white opaque paint, but of course another color can be used.

The crescent 42 is provided to mimic the end portion of the natural nail bed, which is essentially a white half moon, that is, generally visible below the natural nail. Another common name for natural half moon is "cuticle moon". The natural crescent may be visible under some natural fingernails but not the rest, and it is desirable to have an artificial fingernail cover set with a uniform crescent to improve appearance.

Further, it is preferable that the artificial nail cover 40 is made of a transparent ABS having the tip portion 12 coated with the above-described opaque paint. That is, the base 11 between the crescent 42 and the tip 12 remains substantially transparent. The tip 12 and the base 11 are separated by a dividing line 13, which corresponds to a transition line 23 of the natural nail from the natural nail base 21 to the natural nail tip 22. Again, the dividing line 13 may be inclined with respect to the transition line 23, as described in FIGS. 4 and 5, and the decorative design 14 may be air-brushed or otherwise provided with the tip 12 and base 12 11 can be applied.

As with the nail cover 10 described above, the base 11 is clear and transparent so that the natural nail base can be seen through the nail cover 40. Similarly, since the tip 12 is opaque, the natural nail tip 22 cannot be seen when the artificial nail cover 40 is attached. In addition, the opaque crescent-shaped half-moon 42 hides the presence of a natural half-moon and provides a beautiful nail in the form of a French manicure that looks very natural and attractive.

The prefabricated covers 10, 40 and chip 30 can be supplied to the consumer as part of a fingernail decoration kit. Preferably, at least ten covers and ten chips 30 of each type are supplied with the transparent adhesive, filler, and topcoat. The covers 10, 40 and tips 30 provided in the kit may vary in size depending on the various dimensions of the natural fingernail. Nail files and additional decorative decals can be provided in the kit.
