本発明は、片面の原稿から複数ページの画像を読み取ってその画像の両面印刷をおこなうことができる複写機の両面複写印刷方法に関する。

【従来の技術】
現在、自然環境に対する配慮から紙文書を電子文書化する流れがあるが、それでも現状はまだまだ紙文書の廃絶には至らない。そのため、少なくとも紙文書の総量削減をおこなっていこうという流れがある。この紙文書の総量削減を実現する手段として、両面複写印刷の実施が有効であるのは明白である。
この両面複写印刷については、印刷用紙を裏返しにするための両面印刷トレーと、原稿を裏返しにするための両面印刷対応ADF(自動原稿給送装置)とを搭載した両面印刷複写機が既に製品化されている。ところが、この便利な複写機は複雑な紙搬送をおこなうので、開発コストおよび製造コストが大きくなってしまう。したがって、両面複写印刷を安価に実現するために、なんとか前記した自動両面印刷機能を使わずに実現できる複写機が待望されている。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
そこで考えられる方法は、印刷用紙の片面をまとめて一気に印刷し、排紙された印刷用紙をまとめ、手作業で給紙トレーに再セットし、もう一方の面の印刷をおこなうことである。しかしながら、この方法では、片面原稿の両面印刷(片面原稿2枚を印刷用紙の表裏に印刷する)をする際にまず原稿を奇数ページと偶数ページに分けてから印刷用紙の片面ずつまとめて印刷する必要があるので、原稿の元々の並びを変えてしまうことになり、手作業の量が非常に多くなる上、作業の正確性が著しく落ちてしまう。
本発明の目的は、このような従来技術の問題を解決することにあり、具体的には、ADFにセットされた片面原稿を2枚1組にして取り込み、その内の1枚だけをスキャン読み取りして片面印刷し、残る1枚の原稿はスキャン読み取りせずに空搬送することにより、自動両面印刷手段の搭載を不要にするだけでなく、原稿の元々の並びも変えなくてよく、且つページずれも発生しない複写機の両面複写印刷方法などを提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
前記の課題を解決するために、請求項1記載の発明では、片面原稿を最終ページから順に取り込んで両面印刷をおこなう際、原稿が偶数枚の場合、まず、原稿飛ばし設定に従い偶数ページを飛ばして奇数ページのみ順に読み取ってその奇数ページを印刷用紙の第1面に印刷し、次に、奇数ページを飛ばして偶数ページのみ順に読み取ってその偶数ページを前記印刷用紙の第2面に印刷することにより印刷用紙の両面に印刷することができる複写機において、片面原稿の両面印刷であることを指示する第1のボタンと、奇数枚原稿であることを指示する第2のボタンと、前記第1および第2のボタンにより片面原稿の両面印刷であり且つ奇数枚原稿であることが指示された奇数枚片面原稿の両面印刷時、前記原稿飛ばし設定を自動的に偶数枚原稿の両面印刷時の設定内容とは逆にするとともに、第1面印刷終了後、印刷用紙の第2面印刷時に印刷用紙の先頭1枚目を印刷処理なしに空搬送・排紙させ、その印刷用紙の2枚目から、読み取られた偶数ページを順に印刷させる制御手段とを備えた。
また、請求項2記載の発明では、片面原稿を最終ページから順に取り込んで両面印刷をおこなう際、原稿が偶数枚の場合、まず、原稿飛ばし設定に従って偶数ページを飛ばして奇数ページのみ順に読み取り、その奇数ページを印刷用紙の第1面に印刷し、次に、奇数ページを飛ばして偶数ページのみ順に読み取ってその偶数ページを前記印刷用紙の第2面に印刷する複写機の両面複写印刷方法において、片面原稿の両面印刷であり、且つ奇数枚原稿であることが指示された奇数枚片面原稿の両面印刷実行時、前記原稿飛ばし設定を自動的に偶数枚原稿の両面印刷時の設定内容と逆にする構成にした。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、図面により本発明の実施の形態を詳細に説明する。
図20は本発明が実施される複写機要部の一例を示す構成図である。このような構成で、この複写機では、画像形成時、まず、帯電器2が感光体1の表面をマイナスに帯電させる。続いて、画像情報に従って強度変調され、光走査光学系3により走査された光束によって感光体1上に静電潜像を形成する。感光体1の光束の当たった場所は導電性を発現し、表面のマイナス電荷が感光体1の基材を経てアースへ逃げ、その部分のマイナス電位が低下して静電潜像が形成されるのである。
次に、現像器4によりマイナスの電気を帯びたトナーが潜像部に近づけられると、潜像部にトナーが移行する。さらに、潜像部に移行したトナーは転写用帯電器5により印刷用紙Pに移行する。そして、定着器6によって印刷用紙上のトナーが印刷用紙Pに固着する。

以下、本発明の第1の実施例について説明する。
図1に、前記した印刷用紙の流れの一例を示す。図示したように、給紙トレー7から給送された印刷用紙Pは感光体1に接する位置を通過し、このとき、前記したようにトナー像が固着し、定着がおこなわれ、排紙トレー8に排出される。このような複写機を用いて、本発明の第1の実施例の複写機では、複数枚の片面原稿をADF(自動原稿給送装置)により自動的に給送し、両面印刷をおこなうものであるが、自動両面印刷手段は持たない。なお、この実施例では、請求項1記載の制御手段はプログラムを記憶しておくメモリ、そのプログラムに従って動作するCPUなどにより実現される。
このような構成で片面原稿から両面印刷を実現する場合、複写機に搭載されるADFの仕様(先頭ページから取り込むか、最終ページから取り込むか)と印刷用紙の搬送パターンとの組合せにより、以下に示す4つの構成▲1▼〜▲4▼でしか容易に実現することは不可能である。言い換えれば、この構成以外では原稿の並び替えなどの煩雑な作業が必要となってくる。

以下、図1〜図9により、構成▲1▼〜▲4▼について、まず、原稿枚数が偶数枚の場合で説明する。

この構成は、搬送パターンが、図1に示した搬送パターン1か、図4に示した搬送パターン2である。なお、搬送パターン1とは印刷用紙を給紙トレー7から供給する搬送パターンであり、搬送パターン2とは、印刷用紙を手差し給紙トレー9から供給し、且つ給紙の際、手差し給紙トレー9に積載された印刷用紙中の下側から印刷用紙を取り込む搬送パターンである。

以上、原稿が偶数枚(6枚)であるという前提で説明してきたが、実際には奇数枚原稿の場合もあり、その場合、例えば構成▲1▼や構成▲4▼などについてはページずれが発生する。以下、構成▲1▼の場合についてページずれの発生とその解決策について説明する。

そこで、この実施例では、構成▲1▼の複写機の場合、「片面原稿の両面印刷」および「奇数枚原稿」を夫々指示(選択)する第1ボタン及び第2ボタンを搭載し、これらのボタンにより「片面原稿の両面印刷」および「奇数枚原稿」を指示した場合には原稿飛ばし設定を「後飛ばし→先飛ばし」に自動的に変更する。
図17に、この実施例の複写機の操作・制御系要部の構成ブロック図を示す。図示したように、操作部11内に片面原稿の両面印刷であることを指示する第1のボタン12と、奇数枚原稿であることを指示する第2のボタン13とを備え、図17に示した制御部14は、第1および第2のボタンにより片面原稿の両面印刷であり且つ奇数枚原稿であることが指示された奇数枚片面原稿の両面印刷時、原稿飛ばし設定を自動的に偶数枚原稿の両面印刷時の設定内容とは逆にするとともに、第1面印刷終了後、印刷用紙の第2面印刷時に印刷用紙の先頭1枚目を印刷処理なしに空搬送・排紙させ、その印刷用紙の2枚目から、読み取られた偶数ページを順に印刷させるのである。制御部14内のCPU15がボタン12、13からの信号を検出し、プログラムに従って指示に応じてスキャナ16による原稿読み取りを制御するのである。
この場合の印刷状況を図14および図15に示す。図15に示したように、これだけでは図13と同様のページずれが発生してしまう。そこで、本発明では図16に示すように第2面印刷時に、最初の1枚目印刷が始まる前に印刷用紙(第1面に5頁目の原稿内容が印刷済み)を1枚だけ空搬送し、排紙トレーに吐き出す。その後は、順次3頁目の第2面に4頁を、1頁目の第2面に2頁を夫々印刷する。
こうして、この実施例によれば、ページずれを回避することが可能となる(図16参照)。

本発明の第2の実施例の複写機では、ここまで説明してきた第1の実施例の複写機にソーターを接続し、片面原稿の両面印刷を複数部のソート排紙設定で実行する。以下、代表して、前記した構成▲1▼で3部印刷をおこなう場合で説明する。通常の動作では、片面原稿の両面印刷をおこなう際には、第1面(この場合は奇数面)印刷を終了した印刷用紙はソーターの個別トレーに1部ずつ振り分け排紙される。そして、第1面の印刷が終了したところで、第2面(この場合は偶数面)印刷に向けてソーターの個別トレーから1部ずつ取り出し、まとめた上で給紙トレーに再セットする。続いて第2面印刷をおこなうわけであるが、印刷仕上がりにはページずれが発生する。例えば原稿が6枚の場合、第2面(偶数面)印刷時、図18の中ほどに示したように再セットされるが、例えば6ページ目3部は5、3、1ページの反対面に印刷され、ソーターのそれぞれの個別トレーに排紙されるので、図18の下方に示したようにページがずれてしまうのである。
そこで、この実施例では、第1面印刷時にはスタック排紙とし、第2面印刷時にソート排紙とする。
こうして、本発明の第2の実施例によれば、第1面印刷後に印刷用紙をまとめる必要もなくなるし、ページずれも起きない(図19参照)。なお、第2の実施例に示した両面複写印刷方法の適用範囲は構成▲1▼だけに制限されない。片面原稿を先頭ページまたは最終ページから順に取り込んで両面印刷をおこなう際、まず、奇数ページまたは偶数ページのみ順に読み取り、読み取ったページを読み取り順に印刷用紙の第1面に印刷し、次に、読み飛ばしたページのみ順に読み取ってそのページを前記印刷用紙の第2面に印刷する各構成の複写機の両面複写印刷に同様にして実施することができる。

また、請求項2記載の発明では、片面原稿を最終ページから順に取り込んで両面印刷をおこなう際、原稿が偶数枚の場合、まず、原稿飛ばし設定に従って偶数ページを飛ばして奇数ページのみ順に読み取り、その奇数ページを印刷用紙の第1面に印刷し、次に、奇数ページを飛ばして偶数ページのみ順に読み取ってその偶数ページを前記印刷用紙の第2面に印刷する複写機の両面複写印刷の際、片面原稿の両面印刷であり、且つ奇数枚原稿であることが指示された奇数枚片面原稿の両面印刷実行時、原稿飛ばし設定が自動的に偶数枚原稿の両面印刷時の設定内容と逆にされるので、前記した構成の複写機の両面複写印刷において、原稿の元々の並びも変えなくてよく、且つページずれも発生しないようにできる。
また、請求項3記載の発明では、請求項2記載の発明において、奇数枚片面原稿の両面印刷実行時、第1面印刷終了後、印刷用紙の第2面印刷時に印刷用紙の先頭1枚目が印刷処理なしに空搬送・排紙され、その印刷用紙の2枚目から、読み取られた偶数ページが順に印刷されるので、請求項1記載の発明と同様の効果を得ることができる。
