Abstract

<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an e-mail system having a translation function in a communication terminal such as a cellular telephone. <P>SOLUTION: The e-mail system 1 is provided with a language translation means 11 of character data of mail, an image conversion means 12 for converting the character data of the mail and character data of a translation sentence into image data, a mail recording means 13 for recording the mail in a mail data DB (data base), a mail access information transmission means 15 for transmitting access information for accessing a mail browsing screen for browsing the mail recorded in the mail data DB to a transmission destination mail address and a mail display means 16 for reading the contents of the mail from the mail data DB and for displaying the read contents as the mail browsing screen including the image data to a user who accesses the mail browsing screen on the basis of the access information. In addition, the e-mail system 1 is provided with a mail transmission means 17 for transmitting mail in which the character data inputted from the communication terminal is translated. 【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、インターネット等の通信ネットワークを利用した文字情報の送受信において送信者、受信者が持つ通信端末に備えられている言語システムによる制限を言語翻訳手段と画像変換手段を備えることにより、多言語による文字情報の送受信することを可能にする電子メールシステムに関する。

【従来の技術】
近年、インターネット等の通信ネットワークの普及、発達は目覚ましいものがあり、世界中のパソコンや携帯端末が相互に情報を交換することができるようになったことで、すべての産業でなくてはならないものとなっている。
これらの通信ネットワークは個人相互の情報交換にも大きな影響を与えている。言語の異なる国際間においても英語のメールを送受信したり、複数の言語システムや翻訳機能を備えたパソコンなどにより、複数の言語でメールの送受信ができるようになってきた。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、特に、小さなメモリ容量や記憶容量しか持たない携帯電話機などの携帯端末においては、複数の言語システムを備えたり、翻訳機能を備えることが難しいため、携帯端末に備えられている言語システム以外の言語でメールを送信したり、受信し表示したりすることは、事実上、不可能という問題がある。

たとえば、韓国語の携帯電話から日本語の通信端末に日本語でメールを送ることができない。また、日本語の携帯電話機から韓国語の通信端末に韓国語でメールを送ることができない。さらに、日本語の携帯電話機同士で韓国語のメールを送ったり受けたりすることができない。など、通信端末に備えられた言語システムと異なる言語のメールを送受信することは非常に困難であるという問題がある。

本発明の目的は、以上のように、パソコンや携帯端末などの通信端末に備えられている言語システムにより、異なる言語間での文字情報のやり取りが困難なことが多かったので、言語システムの異なる通信端末間でも言語翻訳手段と画像変換手段により文字情報のやり取りを実現する方法を提供することを課題とするものである。

【課題を解決するための手段】
以上の課題を解決するために請求項１の発明は、メールを送る通信端末からのメールの文字データを所定の言語の文字データに翻訳する言語翻訳手段と、メールの文字データや前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データをグラフィックな画像データに変換する画像変換手段と、メール内容と前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データと前記画像変換手段で変換された画像データをメールデータデータベースに記録するメール記録手段と、メール内容と前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データや前記画像変換手段で変換された画像データを閲覧するメール閲覧画面にアクセスするためのメールアクセス情報を所定のメールアドレス宛に送信するメールアクセス情報送信手段と、前記メールアクセス情報に基づいて前記メール閲覧画面にアクセスした利用者に前記メールデータデータベースに記録されたメール内容と前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データや前記画像変換手段で変換された画像データを読み出して通信端末で閲覧可能にするメール表示手段と、を備えることを特徴とするものである。

このような発明では、メールの文字データの言語を所定の言語に言語翻訳手段で翻訳し、メールを受け取る通信端末に備えられている言語システムが、メールの文字データまたは言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データの片方または両方の文字コードを表示できない場合に、メールの文字データや言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データをグラフィックな画像データに変換します。さらに、メール閲覧画面にアクセスするためのメールアクセス情報を所定のメールアドレス宛に送信し、メールを受け取った利用者は、通信端末のブラウザ機能を利用して前記メールアクセス情報に基づき、送信元のメールアドレス、日時、メールの文字データや言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データ、変換された画像データなどを表示することでメールの文字情報を閲覧することができる。このため、メールを送る通信端末の言語システムと異なる言語の文字情報を、メールを受ける通信端末で受け取ることができる。
このとき、メールの文字データの文字情報を閲覧せず、言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データの文字情報だけを閲覧する方式も可能です。

また、前記課題を解決するために請求項２の発明は、メールを送る通信端末のメールの文字データを所定の言語の文字データに翻訳する言語翻訳手段と、メールの文字データや前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データをグラフィックな画像データに変換する画像変換手段と、メール内容と前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データと前記画像変換手段で変換された画像データをメールデータデータベースに記録するメール記録手段と、前記メールを送る通信端末にメール内容と前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データや前記画像変換手段で変換された画像データからメールの内容と翻訳の内容の確認とメール送信を指示できる確認画面を表示するメール確認表示手段と、前記確認画面のメール送信の指示に基づきメール内容と前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データからなるデータを所定のメールアドレス宛に送信するメール送信手段と、を備えることを特徴とするものである。

また、前記課題を解決するために請求項３の発明は、メールを送る通信端末のメールの文字データを所定の言語の文字データに翻訳する言語翻訳手段と、メールの文字データや前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データをグラフィックな画像データに変換する画像変換手段と、メール内容と前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データと前記画像変換手段で変換された画像データをメールデータデータベースに記録するメール記録手段と、前記メールを送る通信端末にメール内容と前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データや前記画像変換手段で変換した画像データからメールの内容と翻訳の内容の確認とメール送信を指示できる確認画面を表示するメール確認表示手段と、前記確認画面のメール送信の指示に基づきメール内容と前記画像変換手段で変換された画像データを閲覧するメール閲覧画面にアクセスするためのメールアクセス情報を所定のメールアドレス宛に送信するメールアクセス情報送信手段と、前記メールアクセス情報に基づいて前記メール閲覧画面にアクセスした利用者に前記メールデータデータベースに記録されたメール内容と前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データと前記画像変換手段で変換された画像データを読み出して通信端末で閲覧可能にするメール表示手段と、を備えることを特徴とするものである。

この方式は、メールを受け取る通信端末に備えられている言語システムが、翻訳前の文字データと翻訳後の文字データの片方または両方を表示できない場合に利用できる。

また、前記課題を解決するために請求項４の発明は、メールを送る通信端末のメールの文字データを所定の言語の文字データに翻訳する言語翻訳手段と、メールの文字データや前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データをグラフィックな画像データに変換する画像変換手段と、メール内容と前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データと前記画像変換手段で変換された画像データをメールデータデータベースに記録するメール記録手段と、メール内容と前記言語翻訳手段で変換された文字コードや前記画像変換手段で変換された画像データから画像付きメールを編集し、所定のメールアドレス宛に送信する画像付きメール送信手段と、を備えることを特徴とするものである。

このとき、メールの文字データの文字情報を送信せず、言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データの文字情報だけを送信する方式も可能です。

また、前記課題を解決するために請求項５の発明は、メールを送る通信端末のメールの文字データを所定の言語の文字データに翻訳する言語翻訳手段と、メールの文字データや前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データをグラフィックな画像データに変換する画像変換手段と、メール内容と前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データと前記画像変換手段で変換された画像データをメールデータデータベースに記録するメール記録手段と、前記メールを送る通信端末にメール内容と前記言語翻訳手段で変換された文字データや前記画像変換手段で変換された画像データからメールの内容と翻訳の内容の確認とメール送信を指示できる確認画面を表示するメール確認表示手段と、前記確認画面のメール送信の指示に基づきメール内容と前記言語翻訳手段で変換された文字コードと前記画像変換手段で変換された画像データから画像付きメールを編集し、所定のメールアドレス宛に送信する画像付きメール送信手段と、を備えることを特徴とするものである。

このように、請求項４および請求項５の電子メールシステムようにメールを受ける通信端末が、画像付きメール、いわゆるＨＴＭＬ形式のメールを受信できる機能を持つときは、本電子メールシステムから一回のメール送信だけで、メールを受ける通信端末に備えられた言語と異なる文字情報を受信できるため、時間と費用を節約することができる。

また、前記課題を解決するために請求項６の発明は、請求項１〜５の電子メールシステムにおいて、メールの文字データの言語種類と前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された文字データの言語種類と、メールを送る通信端末とメールを受ける通信端末に備えられた言語システムの種類と、および、メールを受ける通信端末が画像付きメールの受信機能を備えているか、さらに、メールを送る通信端末で翻訳結果の確認が必要かを判断し、請求項１〜６のうち、いずれかの方法を自動的に選択することを特徴とするものである。

このような発明では、メールの文字データの翻訳前と翻訳後の言語、メールを送る通信端末とメールを送る通信端末に備えられた言語システム、さらにメールを送る通信端末がＨＴＭＬ形式のメールを受け取れるか、さらにメールを送る通信端末で翻訳結果の確認が必要かを判断して、請求項１〜５のうち、できるだけ効率的な、いずれかの方法を自動的に選択することを特徴とするものである。

また、前記課題を解決するために請求項７の発明は、請求項１〜６の電子メールシステムにおいて、メールを送る通信端末またはメールを受ける通信端末に備えられた言語システムの種類により、メールの文字データと前記言語翻訳手段で翻訳された言語の文字データのうち、表示できない文字データがある場合にその文字データの変わりに、前記画像変換手段で変換された画像データを表示することを特徴とするものである。

このような発明では、メールを送る通信端末またはメールを受ける通信端末において表示しようとする文字データが表示できない場合に、文字データの代わりに画像変換手段で変換された画像データで表示するようにするものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明の実施の一形態を図面に基づいて説明する。図１には、本実施形態の電子メールシステム１が示されている。電子メールシステム１は、コンピュータで構成され、具体的には、ＣＰＵ等からなり各種プログラムを実行する制御装置１０と、各データベースやプログラム等が記憶されるハードディスクやメモリからなる記憶装置２０と、モデム、ターミナルアダプタ、ルータ等からなる通信制御装置３０とを備えている。さらに、図示しないキーボード、マウス、ディスプレイ、プリンタなども適宜備えられている。
【００２２】この電子メールシステム１は、通信制御装置３０を介して通信ネットワーク２に接続されている。この通信ネットワーク２は、アナログ公衆回線網、デジタル公衆回線網（ＩＳＤＮ）、デジタル専用線、携帯電話機等の移動体通信網、ＬＡＮ等のデータ通信が可能な様々な回線を含むものである。本実施形態では、移動体通信網２ａと、各公衆回線網や専用線等で構成されるインターネット網２ｂとを備えて構成されている。
【００２３】通信ネットワーク２には、通信端末３が接続されており、通信端末３は携帯電話機３ａ、通信機能付きＰＤＡ（Ｐｅｒｓｏｎａｌ　Ｄｉｇｉｔａｌ　Ａｓｓｉｓｔａｎｔｓ）３ｂ、通信機能付き携帯パーソナルコンピュータ（以下パーソナルコンピュータをＰＣと略す）３ｃ、ＰＣ３ｄなど通信ネットワーク２を通して通信可能な端末が接続されている。なお、通信端末とは、通信機能およびブラウザ機能を有するものであればよい。また、単体で通信機能およびブラウザ機能を有するものに限らず、例えば、通信機能を有する携帯電話機等とブラウザ機能を有するＰＤＡ等とを組み合わせたものでもよい。
【００２４】制御装置１０は、言語翻訳手段１１、画像変換手段１２、メール記録手段１３、メール確認表示手段１４、メールアクセス情報送信手段１５、メール表示手段１６、メール送信手段１７、画像付きメール送信手段１８を備えて構成されている。また、記憶装置２０には、ユーザーデータベース（以下データベースをＤＢと略す）２１、メールデータＤＢ２２、フォントファイル２３、画像ファイル２４と翻訳辞書ＤＢ２５のファイル類が備えられている。
【００２５】ユーザーＤＢ２１は、図２に示すように、メールアドレス２１１、ユーザー名２１２、パスワード２１３、言語コード２１４およびＨＴＭＬメール２１５とが記録されている。その他、システムの管理上必要な項目があるがここでは省略する。言語コード２１４はユーザーの通信端末に備えられた言語システムの種類（例えば「１」は日本語、「２」は韓国語など）を記録する。ＨＴＭＬメール２１５はユーザーの通信端末にＨＴＭＬ形式のメールを受信できる機能があるか（「Ｔｒｕｅ」は有り、「Ｆａｌｓｅ」は無し）を記録する。ユーザーの通信端末にＨＴＭＬ形式のメールを受信できる機能があるかどうかは、自動的に通信端末のブラウザの種類を判断し類推できるが、そのような情報が無い場合でも、このＨＴＭＬメール２１５で判断することができる。自動的に判断できる場合はそちらを優先する。
これらの情報は、各ユーザーが通信回線網２を介して電子メールシステム１にアクセスし、携帯電話機３ａやＰＣ３ｄ等を利用して入力することで設定できるようにされている。
【００２６】メールデータＤＢ２２は、図３に示すように、メールコード２２１、日付２２２、時間２２３、送信先メールアドレス２２４、送信先言語コード２２５、送信元メールアドレス２２６、送信元言語コード２２７、メールヘッダ２２８、メール本文２２９、翻訳本文２３０、画像ページ数２３１、画像ファイル名２３２が記録されている。その他、システムの管理上必要な項目があるがここでは省略する。このメールデータＤＢ２２には、メール内容をメールヘッダ２２８と、メール本文２２９に分け、所定の言語に翻訳された翻訳本文２３０が記録されている。グラフィックな画像データの画像ページ数２３１と画像ファイル名２３２はメール本文２２９と翻訳本文２３０をそれぞれ画像変換した内容が適宜記録される。
【００２７】メールコード２２１は、メールアクセス情報に利用され、電子メールシステム１のコンピュータがメール毎に一意の乱数を自動的に付与する。送信先言語コード２２５と送信元言語コード２２７は、それぞれ、受信する通信端末と送信する通信端末に備えられた言語システムの種類（例えば「１」は日本語、「２」は韓国語など）が適宜記録される。
【００２８】このような本実施形態の電子メールシステム１の動作を、日本語から韓国語に翻訳して送るメールを、主に携帯電話機３ａで送受信する場合を例として図４〜８に示すフローチャートや携帯電話機３ａの画面を参照して説明する。
【００２９】（１）前記請求項１、前記請求項４の電子メールシステム
（Ａ）言語翻訳処理
前記言語翻訳手段１１は、本電子メールシステム１が受け付けたメール、または通信ネットワーク２に接続されたメールサーバに着信したメールについて、メール本文の言語（本実施形態では日本語）と翻訳したい言語（本実施形態では韓国語）を判定し（ステップ１、以下ステップを「Ｓ」と略す）その言語に対応した翻訳辞書ＤＢ２５を選択（Ｓ２）した後、メール本文の文字データから所定の言語の翻訳本文に翻訳する（Ｓ３）。このとき、メール本文だけではなく、件名、氏名などを翻訳することも可能である。
【００３０】（Ｂ）画像変換処理
前記画像変換手段１２は、着信したメールのメール本文と前記言語翻訳処理で生成された翻訳本文から、それぞれの言語に対応したフォントファイル２３を選択（Ｓ４）した後、メール本文と翻訳本文の文字データからグラフィックな画像データに変換する（Ｓ５）。このとき、携帯電話機３ａの一画像データの制限を超えるときは、複数の画像データに変換する。
【００３１】（Ｂ）メール記録処理
前記メール記録手段１３は、電子メールシステム１のコンピュータが一意の乱数を算出しメールコード２２１に、メールの内容から日付２２２、時間２２３、送信先メールアドレス２２４、送信元メールアドレス２２６をそれぞれセットし、メール内容をメールヘッダ２２８とメール本文２２９とに分けて記録し、メール本文の言語を送信元言語コード２２７に、前記言語翻訳処理で生成された翻訳本文の言語を送信先言語コード２２５に、翻訳本文を翻訳本文２３０に、さらに前記のメール本文２２９と翻訳本文２３０の画像データを保存する画像ファイル名２３２と画像ページ数２３１をメールデータＤＢ２２に記録する。また、前記の画像データは画像ファイル名２３２で画像ファイル２４に保存する（Ｓ６）。
【００３２】（Ｃ）ユーザーＤＢ検索処理
ここで、送信先メールアドレス２２４に基づきユーザーＤＢ２１を検索し、検索の結果、該当ユーザーが登録されていてＨＴＭＬメール２１５が「Ｔｒｕｅ」であれば、画像付きメール送信処理に移行する（前記請求項４の電子メールシステム）。検索の結果、該当ユーザーが登録されていてＨＴＭＬメール２１５が「Ｆａｌｓｅ」であるか、該当ユーザーがなければ、メールアクセス情報送信処理に移行する（前記請求項１の電子メールシステム）。（Ｓ７）
【００３３】（Ｄ）画像付きメール送信処理
前記画像付きメール送信手段１８は、日付２２２、時間２２３、送信元メールアドレス２２６、メール本文２２９、翻訳本文２３０、画像ページ数２３１、画像ファイル名２３２などからＨＴＭＬ形式のメールに編集し、送信先メールアドレス２２４に送信する（Ｓ８）。このメールを受信した利用者は、図１９に示すように通信端末の画面３Ｂに表示される。
ＨＴＭＬ形式のメールに編集するときに、送信先の通信端末がメール本文２２９または翻訳本文２３０の文字データの片方または両方とも表示できないときは、表示できない本文の代わりに、その本文に対応した画像ファイル名２３２からＨＴＭＬ形式のメールを編集する。
このとき、送信先にメール本文の文字情報を表示せず、翻訳本文の文字情報だけを表示する方式を採用することもできる。
【００３４】（Ｅ）メールアクセス情報送信処理
前記メールアクセス情報送信手段１５は、日付２２２、時間２２３、送信元メールアドレス２２６などとそのメールを閲覧する際に必要なメールアクセス情報、つまり、電子メールシステム１のメール閲覧画面（メール閲覧用Ｗｅｂ（ＷＷＷ、Ｗｏｒｌｄ　Ｗｉｄｅ　Ｗｅｂ））のＵＲＬ（Ｕｎｉｆｏｒｍ　Ｒｅｓｏｕｒｃｅ　Ｌｏｃａｔｏｒｓ：Ｗｅｂのアドレス）にメールコード２２１を付与したメールを編集し、送信先メールアドレス２２４に送信する（Ｓ９）。
このメールを受信した利用者は、メール閲覧アクセス処理の方法でメール内容を閲覧することができる。
【００３５】（Ｆ）メール閲覧アクセス処理
