Abstract
Description
【0001】

[Prior art]
In a system in which a single router connects a plurality of networks, the entire system stops when a failure occurs in the router. However, a highly reliable system can be provided by constructing a redundant system with two routers and switching between the active router and the standby router.
[0003]
As a prior art of this switching method, as described in JP-A-6-131208, a redundant configuration system is realized by switching the entire system to a standby system when a failure occurs in an active system. There is.
[0004]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
In the above-described redundant configuration system of the related art, when a failure occurs, the entire device is switched, and the normally operating ports other than the failed active port are also switched to the standby system. However, there is a problem that the switching of the route occurs in the communication of (1).

Next, an address system of a device (a router in the embodiment) will be described.
[0014]
This apparatus has a common relay IP address and a common relay MAC address in both systems in addition to the unique IP address and MAC address in the
[0015]
In this apparatus, a relay IP address and a relay MAC address are always used as an IP address and a MAC address of a port currently operating, and an IP address and a MAC address unique to each port are used as a spare port.
[0016]
As described below, the terminal such as WS or PC uses the relay IP address and the MAC address as the interface of the device, so that the terminal having neither the dynamic routing function nor the ARP function at the time of port switching can be used. Communication becomes possible without being conscious of switching the route.
[0017]
That is, in the present invention, when a failure occurs, the switching of the path is realized by replacing the IP address of the spare port with the relay IP address and also replacing the MAC address with the relay MAC address. Hereinafter, focusing on IP address replacement, realization methods will be described for three cases where a failure has occurred. The replacement of the MAC address can be performed in the same manner as the IP address.
[0018]
The IP address used in the description is defined as follows.
[0019]
X is an IP address common to port A and port B.
[0020]
A is an IP address unique to port A.
[0021]
B is an IP address unique to port B.

[0088]
In the above-described embodiment, a case has been described in which communication is performed between the terminal devices connected to the respective networks when the two networks are connected by the working and standby redundant routers. It is needless to say that the present invention can be similarly applied to a case where communication is performed between terminal devices connected to each network in a configuration connected to another network by a duplicated router.
[0089]
In the embodiment, as the internetwork device for connecting the networks, a router for connecting the networks using the IP address at the network layer level is used. However, the internetwork device for connecting the networks is not limited to the router. I just need. For example, a bridge that connects networks using a MAC address at the level of a MAC layer that is a lower sublayer of the data link layer may be used, or a brouter that has both functions of a router and a bridge may be used.
[0090]
Furthermore, although the case of a port failure has been described as a failure of the internetwork device, it goes without saying that the present invention can be applied to a failure in a portion connecting the network and the internetwork device.
[0091]
【The invention's effect】
By realizing the duplication on a port basis, a highly reliable LAN system can be constructed at low cost.
[0092]
Further, a terminal having neither the dynamic routing function nor the ARP function can communicate without being aware of the switching of the route.
