本発明は、カメラを備える携帯電話機やPDA(Personal Digital Assistants)等の携帯端末装置に関するものである。

近年、携帯電話機やPDA(Personal Digital Assistants)等の携帯端末装置は、携帯性を高めるために折り畳み機構を持ったものが普及しつつあり、さらに情報端末装置としての本来の機能に加え、付加的な機能を追加したものが種々提案されており、その一つにカメラ機能を備えたものがある。

図7にカメラを具備した従来の携帯端末装置の一例を示すように、この携帯端末装置31は携帯電話機に関するもので、第一の筐体32と第二の筐体36とをヒンジ部35を介して互いの対向面32a,36aの角度αを可変し得るように回動可能に構成したもので、第一の筐体32の対向面32aに表示部33と受話部34を備えるとともに、第二の筐体36の対向面36aに操作部37と送話部38を備え、互いの対向面32a,36aが向き合うように折り畳むことで小型化し、携帯性を高めることができ、また、上記ヒンジ部35を回動させて第一の筐体32と第二の筐体36とを開いた時には第一の筐体32に備える受話部34を使用者の耳元に近づけ、第二の筐体36に備える送話部38を使用者の口元に近づけることにより通話を行うことができるようになっていた。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところが、図7に示す携帯端末装置31は、カメラ部40の撮影窓39が第一の筐体32の外面32bに形成され、第一の筐体31と第二の筐体32の開閉にかかわらず外部に露出しているためにゴミや埃が付着し易く、その結果、クリーニングを頻繁に行わなければならず、また、クリーニングを行わずに撮影すると、撮影された画像にゴミや埃が映り込んでしまい、撮影した画像を台無しにしてしまうといった課題があった。

また、カメラ部40の撮影窓39が第一の筐体32の外面32bに常時露出しているため、周囲の人に盗撮を意識させ、不快感を与えるといった恐れもあった。

この点に関し、カメラ部40の撮影窓39に嵌め込み式のカバーを設けることも考えられるが、この場合、撮影の度にカバーを取り外さなければならず、手間がかかるとともに、紛失し易いといった課題があり、また、カメラ部40の撮影窓39に自動開閉式のカバーを設けたものでは、カバーを自動開閉させる機構が必要となり、携帯端末装置31の構造が複雑になるとともに、高価なものになってしまうといった課題があった。

そこで、上記課題に鑑み、本発明の携帯端末装置は、少なくとも表示部とカメラ部を有する第一の筐体と、少なくとも操作部を有する第二の筐体とを有し、上記第一の筐体の表示部を有する面を上記第二の筐体の操作部を有する面と同じ方向を向けた状態で上記第一の筐体が上記第二の筐体の操作部を有する面に対して回動するように構成するとともに、上記第二の筐体の操作部を有する面と対向する上記第一の筐体の面に上記カメラ部の撮影窓を設け、上記第一筐体と上記第二の筐体とのなす角度が0°及び180°の時以外の任意の位置において上記カメラ部の窓が露出するように構成したことを特徴とする。

また、第二の筐体2内には制御部、無線部、記憶部を有する回路基板13と電池14を備え、上記回路基板13は、マイク部4、操作部5、表示部6、スピーカー部7,8、カメラ部11、電池14と各々電気的に接続されている。なお、15は回路基板13の無線部と電気的に接続され、第二の筐体2の連結部3近傍の端部に配置されたアンテナ、18は第二の筐体2の側面に設けられ、通話モードと撮影モードとを切り換えるモード切り換えボタン、19は第二の筐体2の側面に設けられ、通話モード時にはオフフックボタンとして機能し、かつ撮影モード時にはシャッターボタンとして機能するシャッター兼オフフックボタンである。

また、連結部3には第一の検出部16と第二の検出部17を備え、第一の筐体1と第二の筐体2の開閉途中における状態を検知するようになっている。即ち、図5に検出部の構造を示すように、円柱状をした連結部3の外周には二本の導体パターン16a,17aを形成してあり、連結部3の回転により二つの導通端子16b,17bが二本の導体パターン16a,17aと接触/非接触となることでオン状態/オフ状態を検出するようになっている。

そして、本発明の携帯端末装置10によれば、第一の筐体1が第二の筐体2に対して90度回動した状態(図2)においてのみカメラ部11の撮影窓12が完全に露出し、それ以外の位置(例えば、図1や図3)ではカメラ部11の撮影窓12が完全に露出せず、撮影窓12を第二の筐体2によって覆うことができるため、撮影窓12にカバーを別途設ける必要がなく、構造を簡略化できるとともに、従来のように撮影窓12が常時露出するようなことがないため、ゴミや埃が付着し難く、クリーニングを頻繁に行わなくて済む構造とすることができる。しかも、撮影モードであるのか否かを周囲の人も容易に判断することができるため、盗撮を意識させることがなく、周囲の人に不快感を与えるようなこともない。

まず、通話モードにおいては、着信を検知すると、2つのスピーカー部7,8を動作させて着信音を放音するようになっている。この時、2つのスピーカー部7,8は表示部6を挟んで両側に配置されていることから両者の距離を離すことができるため、各スピーカー部7,8より独立した着信音を出力することによりステレオ効果を持った着信音を放音させることができる。
