TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a start control device for an internal combustion engine.
[0002]
[Prior art]
When the internal combustion engine (engine) is started, fuel is supplied to an intake passage such as an intake port (in some cases, in a combustion chamber), and ignition of a spark plug is performed. The rotation of the crankshaft is performed. In the case of a hybrid vehicle or the like, a motor for power generation or a motor for driving a vehicle may be used instead of the starter motor. Also, in the case of a hybrid vehicle, when switching between the combined engine / motor mode and the single motor mode, the engine may be started and stopped automatically without depending on the driver's operation.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
Improving the startability of the engine is one of the points where improvements required for the engine are desired. In particular, during cold start, the ignitability of the air-fuel mixture is poor, and the startability is poor. Further, in an Atkinson cycle engine or the like in which the expansion ratio is larger than the compression ratio, there is a concern that good startability cannot be sufficiently obtained at a low rotation because the compression ratio is relatively low. The Atkinson cycle engine is said to have good thermal efficiency, and is used in hybrid vehicles and the like.
[0004]
For example, JP-A-2000-320356 discloses an engine for a hybrid vehicle. This engine realizes the Atkinson cycle by delaying the timing of closing the intake valve, but since the amount of compression is low at a low temperature start, the intake valve is closed slightly earlier (advanced). Startability has been improved. However, according to this method, it is necessary to control the advance timing of the closing timing of the intake valve and lock it at the advanced position.
[0005]
The present invention has been made in view of such a situation, and an object of the present invention is to provide a start control device for an internal combustion engine that can improve startability.
[0006]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
The internal combustion engine start control device according to claim 1, further comprising external drive means for performing a rotation operation of a crankshaft without depending on a combustion operation of the internal combustion engine, and igniting or igniting fuel when the internal combustion engine is started. The external drive means rotates the crankshaft so that the rotation speed of the crankshaft near the compression top dead center at which the compression is performed is faster than the rotation speed of the crankshaft in other strokes. . In the case of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine, since the ignition timing is shifted for each cylinder, even if one cylinder is not near the ignition (ignition) compression top dead center, another cylinder is near the ignition (ignition) compression top dead center. For this reason, a case where the rotation speed of the crankshaft is instantaneously increased may occur. The present invention includes such a case.
[0007]
According to a second aspect of the present invention, in the internal combustion engine start control device according to the first aspect, the internal combustion engine performs combustion by an Atkinson cycle, and is mounted on a hybrid vehicle as one of the driving sources. It is characterized by:
[0008]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
One embodiment of a control device of the present invention will be described below with reference to the drawings. The control device of the present embodiment is applied to a hybrid vehicle, and the configuration is shown in FIG. The engine 1 is mounted on a vehicle together with a motor generator (mainly functioning as an electric motor) 32. This vehicle also has a motor generator (mainly functioning as a generator) 33 that generates electric power by receiving the output of the engine 1. Hereinafter, motor generators 32 and 33 are simply referred to as MGs 32 and 33.
[0009]
These engines 1, MG 32 and MG 33 are connected by a power split device 34. Power split device 34 distributes the output of engine 1 to MG 33 and drive wheels 35. Power split device 34 also has a role of transmitting the output from MG 32 to drive wheels 35 and a role of a transmission relating to the driving force transmitted to drive wheels 35 via reduction gear 37 and drive shaft 36. I have. The power split mechanism 34 of the present embodiment realizes the above-described mechanism by the planetary gears.
[0010]
MG 32 is an AC synchronous motor, and is driven by AC power. Inverter 39 converts the power stored in battery 38 from DC to AC and supplies it to MG 32, and converts the power generated by MG 33 from AC to DC and stores it in battery 38. . MG33 also has a configuration basically similar to that of MG32 described above, and has a configuration as an AC synchronous motor. MG 32 mainly outputs the driving force, whereas MG 33 mainly receives the output of engine 1 to generate power.
[0011]
The engine 1 is provided with an injector 11 for each cylinder 10, and injects fuel to an intake port of each cylinder 10. An ignition plug 12 is also provided for each cylinder 10, and the ignition plug 12 ignites an air-fuel mixture generated by fuel injected from the injector 11. Fuel injection by the injector 11 is controlled by an engine ECU (Electrical Control Unit) 18, and ignition of the spark plug 12 is also controlled by the engine ECU 18. The engine ECU 18 is also connected to a crank position sensor 13 that detects the rotational position of the crankshaft of the engine 1. It is also possible to detect the rotation speed of the engine 1 from the output pulse of the crank position sensor 13.
[0012]
The output of MG 32 is transmitted to drive wheels 35 via power split device 34 and serves as driving force for running the vehicle. Further, the MG 32 mainly generates a driving force, but can also generate electric power (regeneration electric power) by using the rotation of the driving wheels 35, and can also function as a generator. At this time, a brake (regenerative brake) is applied to the drive wheel 35, so that the vehicle can be braked by using the brake together with a foot brake (oil brake) and an engine brake.
[0013]
On the other hand, the MG 33 mainly generates power by receiving the output of the engine 1, but may also function as an electric motor driven by receiving the power of the battery 38 via the inverter 39. That is, the MG 33 can also function as a so-called starter motor. The MG33 as a starter motor rotates the crankshaft of the engine 1 to reciprocate the piston in the cylinder, and rotates the camshaft interlocked with the crankshaft via a timing belt (chain) to open and close the intake and exhaust valves. Operation can be performed. That is, the MG 33 functions as an external driving unit.
[0014]
Rotation sensors (resolvers) 50 and 51 for detecting respective rotation positions and rotation speeds are attached to the respective drive shafts of the MG 32 and the MG 33. The rotation sensors 50 and 51 are connected to the motor ECU 42, respectively. The state of the engine 1 (output torque) can be detected by detecting the state of the MG 33 by the rotation sensor 51, the inverter 39, the motor ECU 42, and the like. That is, it is possible to detect whether or not the engine 1 has completely exploded. Complete combustion means that the air-fuel mixture generated in the cylinder of the engine 1 is completely burned. When the explosion is completed, it can be considered that the engine 1 is in a state where it can be operated independently.
[0015]
The driving by the engine 1 and the driving by the MGs 32 and 33, which are characteristic of the hybrid vehicle, are comprehensively controlled by the main ECU 40. The main ECU 40 determines the distribution of the output of the engine 1 and the output of the MG 32 (MG 33), and outputs control commands to the engine ECU 18 and the motor ECU 42 to control the engine 1, MG 32 and MG 33.
[0016]
Further, the engine ECU 18 and the motor ECU 42 also transmit information on the engine 1, the MG 32, and the MG 33 to the main ECU 40. A battery ECU 43 for controlling the battery 38 and a brake ECU 44 for controlling the brake are also connected to the main ECU 40. The battery ECU 43 monitors the state of charge of the battery 38, and outputs a charge request command to the main ECU 40 when the amount of charge is insufficient. The main ECU 40 that has received the charging request controls the MG 33 to generate power so as to charge the battery 38. The brake ECU 44 controls braking of the vehicle, and controls regenerative braking by the MG 32 together with the main ECU 40.
[0017]
When the engine 1 is started, the main ECU 40, the engine ECU 18, and the motor ECU 42 cooperate to perform cranking with the output of the MG 33 while performing fuel injection by the injector 11 and ignition by the spark plug 12. That is, the main ECU 40, the engine ECU 18, the motor ECU 42, and the like perform the starting process. In the present embodiment, the start process of the engine 1 is performed as follows regardless of whether the vehicle is running or stopped by the driving force of the MG 32.
[0018]
The power of the battery 38 is supplied to the MG 33 via the inverter 39, and the cranking of the engine 1 is rotated by the driving force generated by the MG 33 to start cranking. At this time, the rotational position of the crankshaft is detected by the crank position sensor 13, and the MG 33 detects when the piston position in each cylinder 10 is near the compression top dead center at which the fuel (air-fuel mixture) is ignited. Then, the rotational speed of the crankshaft is momentarily transiently increased. The control of the MG 33 is performed by cooperation of the engine ECU 18, the motor ECU 42, and the main ECU 40.
[0019]
By doing so, the piston speed near the top dead center of the ignition compression becomes high, and it becomes easy to complete the explosion. Normally, the complete explosion will not take place unless the engine speed exceeds a certain speed. However, even if the overall speed is low, the engine speed will increase apparently by increasing the speed only near the top dead center of ignition compression. The explosion is facilitated, making it easier to complete the explosion. As a result, the startability is improved. If the rotation of the cranking is increased by the external driving means not only in the vicinity of the top dead center of the ignition compression but also in the whole area, the consumption of electric energy increases. For this reason, the rotational speed of the crankshaft is increased only in the vicinity of the compression top dead center where particularly effective ignition is performed.
[0020]
In the present embodiment, the MG33 controls the crankshaft rotation speed increase near the ignition compression top dead center for a predetermined period (for example, until the crankshaft rotates a predetermined number of rotations) after the initial explosion in each cylinder. Is continued. However, in this case, the external drive by the MG 33 after the complete explosion of each cylinder is not performed over the entire area, but only when each piston is near the top dead center of the ignition compression. ing.
[0021]
As described above, even after a complete explosion, the rotation of the crankshaft is increased in the vicinity of the top dead center of the ignition compression (stroke in which expansion is started after ignition: a stroke in which torque is generated), thereby assisting the torque generated by combustion. The number of revolutions can be raised at a stretch, and the startability can be improved. This is because if the rotation speed rises at a stretch, the charging efficiency of intake air is improved due to intake inertia and the like, so that combustion is easily stabilized. In addition, increasing the number of revolutions increases the number of ignitions per unit time, and also increases the cylinder internal pressure (due to the improvement in charging efficiency), so that the startability can be improved from this point as well.
[0022]
In particular, the engine 1 of the present embodiment is an Atkinson cycle high expansion ratio engine. A high expansion ratio is realized by closing the intake valve late, and energy efficiency is improved by improving thermal efficiency. However, since the engine has a high expansion ratio, the actual compression ratio is relatively low, and there is a concern that the startability may be reduced. Therefore, as described above, increasing the crankshaft rotation speed near the ignition compression top dead center by using the external driving means is particularly effective for improving the startability.
[0023]
The air-fuel ratio control device of the present invention is not limited to the above embodiment. For example, the crankshaft rotation speed increase near the top dead center of the ignition compression performed at the start of the internal combustion engine may be performed from the moment when the complete explosion occurs. Alternatively, the crankshaft rotation speed near the top dead center of the ignition compression is increased only until the first explosion (first complete explosion) in any cylinder (or until the first explosion is completed in all cylinders). You may do it.
[0024]
In any case, if the operation is performed before the engine starts the self-sustaining operation, the external drive means rotates the crankshaft over the entire range, and increases the rotation speed of the crankshaft only near the top dead center of the ignition compression. Let it. On the other hand, when the operation is performed after the start of the self-sustaining operation of the engine, the external drive means is driven only near the compression top dead center where ignition (ignition) is performed while the crankshaft is rotated by the self-sustaining operation of the engine, and the crankshaft is driven. What is necessary is just to increase rotation. It should be noted that the rotation speed of the crankshaft by the external drive means may be increased only near the top dead center of the ignition compression while the crankshaft is rotated over the entire area by the external drive means even after the self-sustained operation of the engine is started. However, it is not preferable from the viewpoint of improving energy efficiency.
[0025]
In short, the rotational speed of the crankshaft in the vicinity of the top dead center of the ignition compression may be increased by the external drive means as compared with other strokes. Further, the external driving means in the above-described embodiment is a motor generator in a hybrid vehicle, but may be a starter motor or the like that can control the number of revolutions in a normal engine vehicle other than the hybrid vehicle. Further, the start control device of the present invention can also be applied to a diesel engine (in this case, the rotation speed of the crankshaft is increased near the ignition top dead center). In the case of a multi-cylinder internal combustion engine, the speed increase of the crankshaft in the vicinity of ignition (ignition) compression top dead center may be performed for all cylinders, or for some cylinders (only two cylinders of four cylinders). , Or only one cylinder).
[0026]
【The invention's effect】
According to the start control device for an internal combustion engine of the present invention, by increasing the rotation of the crankshaft near the top dead center of the ignition compression by the external drive means, the torque generated by the combustion is assisted and the rotation speed rises at once. Thus, the startability can be improved by improving the intake air charging efficiency by the intake inertia and increasing the number of ignitions per unit time.
