歯牙表面と歯周組織に付着するプラークは虫歯と歯槽膿漏の原因である細菌の温床となり歯牙喪失の二大原因である。本発明は、特に歯周病の原因となる歯間部のプラークコントロールに最適な口腔清掃用具に関するものである。

前述の如く、歯間部のプラークコントロールの有用性は高い。しかるに、口腔清掃補助具を用いて歯間部の口腔清掃のために鼓形歯間空隙に歯間清掃器具を挿入する場合に、清掃部先端で歯肉を傷つけることなく、同時に疼痛や違和感を発現することなく容易に挿入可能であるとともに、複雑な歯根形状を有する迷路のような挿入方向に規制のある歯間部にも抵抗なく挿入するだけで適合し、歯根陥窮部にも磨きのこしがなく、さらに、上記清掃作業中に快適で破損することが少ない歯間清掃補助具を提供することである。
