TECHNICAL FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a nonvolatile information recording method using polyimide, an information recording medium, and an information reproducing method.
[0002]
[Prior art]
Conventional nonvolatile recording media include (1) magnetic disks, (2) optical disks, and (3) magneto-optical disks. Of these, magnetic disks typified by hard disks have the advantages of large capacity and high-speed random access, but the recorded information and the device itself are easily destroyed by an external magnetic field or impact, and the handling is not always easy. . Next, compact discs (CDs), which are one type of optical disc, have the advantage of being able to be manufactured at low cost with a large capacity. Not really. Next, a magneto-optical disk utilizing the magnetization characteristics of a magnetic thin film has a large capacity and can rewrite recorded information, but the structure of the disk is complicated. Further, the information writing / reading mechanism using the Kerr effect or the Faraday effect has a complicated structure and is expensive due to the necessity of detecting the polarization state of light.
[0003]
[Problems to be solved by the invention]
On the other hand, in recent years, a circuit technique using a polymer has been attracting attention, and for example, a phenomenon has been found in which, when laser annealing is performed on polyimide, the polyimide becomes conductive.
[0004]
The present invention skillfully utilizes the unique properties found in the course of studying the various properties possessed by such a polyimide, without being affected by magnetic fields, and reading out information with a pickup device having a simple configuration. It is an object of the present invention to provide an information recording method, an information recording medium, and an information reproducing method which are advantageous in terms of cost and are suitable for small-quantity multi-product production.
[0005]
[Means for Solving the Problems]
In order to achieve the above object, the information recording method of the present invention includes irradiating a laser beam onto an information recording medium having at least a recording surface made of polyimide, and selectively metallizing the recording surface in accordance with information to be recorded. In this case, information is recorded. One of the main modes is characterized in that the laser light is an excimer laser. The information recording medium of the present invention is characterized in that at least the recording surface is made of polyimide, and the recording surface is selectively metallized by irradiating a laser beam to record information. In the information reproducing method of the present invention, at least the recording surface is made of polyimide, the recording surface is selectively metallized, and the information recording medium on which information is recorded is irradiated with reproduction light, and the recording surface has a metallic gloss. The recorded information is reproduced by detecting a change in the amount of reflection of the reproduction light due to the presence or absence.
[0006]
When an excimer laser containing information is applied to the polyimide, the polyimide has a metallic luster corresponding to the information. When such a disc is irradiated with a reading laser, the amount of reflection of laser light differs between a metallized portion and a non-metallized portion, so that information can be read by utilizing this phenomenon. The above and other objects, features, and advantages of the present invention will be apparent from the following detailed description and the accompanying drawings.
[0007]
BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
Hereinafter, embodiments of the present invention will be described in detail. First, the basic phenomenon of the present invention will be described. Polyimide is essentially an insulator. However, it has been found that when this is irradiated with high-intensity laser light such as an excimer laser, it not only becomes conductive but also changes to have metallic luster. As a specific example, when an excimer laser irradiation treatment was performed on a polyimide sheet having a specific resistance of 10 18 Ω · cm, the specific resistance was reduced to 10 −2 Ω · cm, and it was confirmed that the surface had metallic luster. ing. By applying this to an information recording medium such as an optical disk and associating information with the presence or absence of metallic luster, information can be recorded only once.
[0008]
That is, a laser is applied to an information recording medium made of polyimide or an information recording medium whose surface is coated with polyimide, for example, an optical disk so as to draw a concentric or spiral pattern according to information to be recorded. As a result, the portion irradiated with the laser is metallized with the polyimide, and exhibits a metallic luster. When such a disk is irradiated with a reading laser, the amount of reflection of laser light differs between the metallized part and the non-metalized part. Can be used as an information recording medium.
[0009]
Next, a method for manufacturing an information recording medium according to the present embodiment will be described with reference to FIG. The following description is an example when the information recording medium is an optical disk. First, a disc-shaped polycarbonate (PC) substrate 10 having a thickness of, for example, 1.1 mm is prepared as a base material.
[0010]
Next, a cationic UV resin 12 is applied to the recording surface side of the PC board 10 by, for example, a screen printing method, and ultraviolet rays are irradiated until the resin is completely cured. Next, the same shape polyimide film 14 having a thickness of, for example, 100 μm is attached to the resin application surface side of the PC board 10. As described above, since the UV resin 12 is in a state immediately before curing, the UV resin 12 is cured immediately after the polyimide film 14 is bonded, and the polyimide film 14 is bonded and fixed on the PC board 10. Thus, the optical disc 20 is obtained. The optical disk 20 is appropriately marked as servo information so that a laser beam for writing and reading information can accurately perform a tracking operation.
[0011]
For writing information on the optical disc 20 having such a structure, the surface of the polyimide film 14 is irradiated with, for example, an excimer laser 22 modulated according to the information to be recorded, and a desired portion is modified into a metal shape. The protective layer 24 is formed by applying a UV curable resin to the information recording surface side of the optical disc 20 on which information is recorded in this way and curing the resin with ultraviolet rays. Reading of the written information can be performed by irradiating a reading laser beam and detecting a change in the amount of reflected light from the polyimide film 14 of the optical disk 20 with an optical detector.
[0012]
FIG. 2 shows an example of an optical pickup for reproduction. This is an example of a so-called three-beam system, in which a laser beam output from a semiconductor laser 100 is collimated by a collimator lens 102, then enters a diffraction grating 104, where it is added to a main beam and a tracking beam. Are formed. Each beam enters the objective lens 110 via the half mirror 106, converges here, and enters the polyimide film 14 of the optical disc 20.
[0013]
The laser beam reflected by the metallic gloss portion of the polyimide film 14 passes through the objective lens 110 and enters the half mirror 106. The return laser beam reflected by the half mirror 106 is condensed and incident on the photodetector 118 via the condenser lens 114 and the cylindrical lens 116, respectively. The spot of the main beam formed on the photodetector 118 changes to an ellipse according to the shift of the focus position on the optical disc 20, but due to the lens action by the cylindrical lens 116, the direction of the ellipse changes according to the direction of the shift. Changes to By detecting this with the photodetector 118, a signal for focus control can be obtained. Further, a signal for tracking control can be obtained by detecting the light amount of the sub-beam by the photodetector 118. Further, an RF signal including write information can be obtained from the light amount signal of the photodetector 118.
[0014]
As described above, according to the present embodiment, the following effects can be obtained.
(1) Since a magnetic thin film is not used for writing information, there is no influence of an external magnetic field such as dissipation of information.
(2) Since the Kerr effect and the Faraday effect as in the magneto-optical disk are not used, no polarization detecting means for detecting them is required, and the structure of the optical pickup can be simplified.
(3) Since information is written on a polyimide film as a recording surface by a laser beam controlled by software, there is no need to make a mold unlike a CD, and it is possible to produce a small number of types of disks at low cost. it can.
(4) Compared with various types of recording disks such as a drilling system, a phase change system, an alloy system, and a bubble system, the disk structure is simple and can be manufactured at low cost.
(5) Since the signal reproduction efficiency (S / N ratio) is high, a read error hardly occurs.
[0015]
The present invention has many embodiments and can be variously modified based on the above disclosure. For example, the following is also included.
(1) In the above embodiment, an excimer laser is used for writing information, but any type of laser source may be used as long as the polyimide film 14 can be metallized.
(2) In the above embodiment, the polyimide film is bonded on the PC board. However, a polyimide disk may be used, or the board surface may be coated with polyimide. In the above embodiment, the irradiation of the excimer laser 22 is performed from the polyimide film 14 side, but may be performed from the PC substrate 10 side. In this case, since the polyimide film 14 is metallized at the interface with the PC board 10, there is no need to provide the protective layer 24.
(3) In the above embodiment, the example of the optical pickup that performs the focus servo control by the astigmatism method and the tracking servo control by the three-beam method has been described. However, various known methods may be applied.
(4) The contrast between the metallic glossy portion and the background may be increased by coloring the polyimide film 14 or the like.
(5) In the above embodiment, the example of the disk type information recording medium has been described.
[0016]
【The invention's effect】
As described above, according to the present invention, based on the finding that a polyimide is irradiated with a laser beam to be in a metallic state, the information is written in the polyimide by associating the information with the presence or absence of metallic luster. There is an effect that information can be read out by a pickup device having a simple configuration without being affected, and that it is suitable for small-quantity multi-type media production.
