【発明の属する技術分野】
本発明は、印刷データに基づいてレシートに印刷を行う印刷装置を有し、入力情報に基づいてレシート印刷情報を生成するＰＯＳ端末と、当該ＰＯＳ端末を管理するＰＯＳサーバとを備えたＰＯＳシステムおよびインターフェース装置に関するものである。

【従来の技術】
従来、スーパーやコンビニエンス・ストア等の小売業において用いられるＰＯＳシステム（販売時点情報管理システム）では、購入商品並びにその金額に関するいわゆる商品情報に、商品広告やイベント告知などの広告情報を付加してレシート上に印刷可能な印刷装置を備えたＰＯＳ端末が広く利用されている。また、近年では広告情報だけでなく、クーポン券や抽選券としての情報が付加される場合もあり、販売促進に有効な広告手段となっている。

ところで、この種のＰＯＳ端末は、通常、複数の端末を統括制御するＰＯＳサーバと接続されており、商品に付されたバーコードをスキャニングするなどして入力した入力情報をＰＯＳ端末からＰＯＳサーバに送信する。ＰＯＳサーバは、この入力情報に基づいて、商品の金額等を含む商品データを生成し、これをＰＯＳ端末に送信する。そして、ＰＯＳ端末は、ＰＯＳサーバから送信された商品データに広告情報を付加して印刷データを生成し、付設された印刷装置によって印刷データをレシートに印刷し、オペレータがこれを顧客に手渡すことにより広告情報の提供を行う。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
ところが、上記のような広告情報を付加し得る機能を有しない既存のＰＯＳシステム（購入商品並びにその金額に関する商品情報のみが印刷されたレシートしか発行し得ないＰＯＳシステム）に、広告情報を付加する機能を追加する場合、既存のＰＯＳサーバやＰＯＳ端末の大幅な改造が必須となり、多額の投資が必要となってしまう。このため、非常に効果的な広告手段であるにも関わらず、その利用を断念せざるを得ない小売業が多かった。

本発明は、既存のシステムに大幅な改造を加えることなく、最小限の投資で広告情報を付加する機能を有するＰＯＳシステムおよびインターフェース装置を提供することを目的とする。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明のＰＯＳシステムは、印刷データに基づいてレシートに印刷を行う印刷装置と、ユーザによって入力された入力情報を取得すると共に、入力情報に基づいてレシート印刷情報を生成する端末装置とを有するＰＯＳ端末と、ネットワークを介してＰＯＳ端末と相互に接続され、当該ＰＯＳ端末を管理するＰＯＳサーバと、広告情報を提供する広告情報提供手段と、端末装置から取得したレシート印刷情報に、広告情報提供手段によって提供された広告情報を付加して、印刷データを生成する印刷データ生成手段と、を備えたＰＯＳシステムであって、印刷データ生成手段は、印刷装置の基板スロットに装着したインターフェース装置によって構成され、広告情報提供手段は、インターフェース装置に着脱自在に装着されると共に、広告情報を記憶した記憶媒体によって構成されていることを特徴とする。

なお、「広告情報」とは、ユーザによって入力された入力情報に基づいて生成されるレシート印刷情報など本来レシート上に掲載すべき内容以外の情報を指すものであり、具体的には商品広告やイベント告知などの広告情報の他、クーポン券や抽選券としての情報を言うものである。また、「レシート」とは、ＰＯＳシステムにおいて発行される紙片を指すものであり、具体的には、小売店などで発行されるレシートに限らず、キヨスク端末などで発行される伝票、チケット発券所などで発行されるチケット、銀行のＡＴＭで発行される取引明細書、ロッタリーチケット等をも含む概念を言うものである。

【発明の実施の形態】
以下、本発明の一実施形態に係るＰＯＳシステムおよびインターフェース装置について、添付図面を参照しながら詳細に説明する。本発明は、レシートに印刷を行う印刷装置を有するＰＯＳ端末と、当該ＰＯＳ端末を管理するＰＯＳサーバとにより構成された既存のＰＯＳシステム（販売時点情報管理システム）において、印刷装置のインターフェース装置を入れ替えるだけで、広告情報を付加したレシート（図６参照）を発行し得るＰＯＳシステムを容易に構築できるものである。また、広告情報をメモリカード等の記憶媒体に記憶させ、これをインターフェース装置に着脱可能に構成することにより、広告情報の提供を容易に行い得るものである。そこで、以下、スーパーやコンビニエンス・ストア等の店舗にて利用され、オペレータによって入力された商品販売に関する入力情報に基づいてレシートを発行するＰＯＳシステムを例に挙げて説明する。

図１に示すように、本発明のＰＯＳシステム１０は、オペレータ（ユーザ）によって、主に商品に付されたバーコードが読みとられることにより入力情報を取得する複数のＰＯＳ端末２０（１つのみ図示）と、ネットワークを介して当該ＰＯＳ端末２０と相互に接続され、ＰＯＳ端末２０に入力された入力情報の管理を行うＰＯＳサーバ３０とによって構成されている。

ＰＯＳサーバ３０は、制御装置（ＣＰＵ３１）の他、ＲＯＭ３２やＲＡＭ３３等のメモリを有し、ＲＯＭ３２内に記憶された制御プログラムにしたがって、ＲＡＭ３３内のバッファ３９等に記憶された情報の処理を行う。特にＲＡＭ３３内には、商品コードブロック３５、商品名ブロック３６、金額ブロック３７、在庫ブロック３８を有しており、ＣＰＵ３１は、ＰＯＳ端末２０より送信された入力情報に基づいて、これらから商品コード、商品名、金額に関する情報を抽出し、レシート６１への印刷およびＰＯＳ端末２０のディスプレイ４２の表示に用いる商品データを生成する。なお、「商品データ」とは、レシート６１上に印刷する商品情報の元となるデータを指すものである。

一方、ＰＯＳ端末２０は、ＰＯＳサーバ３０から送信される商品データや入力情報に基づいてレシート印刷情報を生成する端末装置４０と、レシート印刷情報に基づいてレシート６１に印刷を行う印刷装置５０（レシートプリンタ）とを備え、互いにコネクタ４６，５３を介して接続されている。端末装置４０は、キーボード４３による入力またはバーコードリーダ４４によるバーコードの読みとりによって商品に関する情報（商品情報）や顧客に関する情報（顧客情報）などの入力情報を取得する。また、カードリーダ４５によって顧客６０のクレジットカードや会員カードを読みとり、クレジット清算に関する情報や会員番号等の会員に関する情報を取得する。さらに、ＰＯＳサーバ３０から送信された商品データを元に生成した商品情報を表示するディスプレイ４２を有し、顧客６０に対して購入商品の金額等を提示する。

印刷装置５０は、広告情報を記憶したメモリカード５２を脱着可能なインターフェース装置５１が装着されており、当該インターフェース装置５１によってレシート６１に印刷する印刷データの生成を行う。後で詳述するが、印刷データの生成は、端末装置４０によって生成されるレシート印刷情報にメモリカード５２から取得した広告情報を付加することによって行われる。そしてこれにより、広告情報を掲載した広告付レシート６１が発行され、顧客６０に対して広告提供が為される。

また、印刷装置５０は、モノクロ印刷およびカラー印刷が可能であり、印刷装置５０に備えられたディップスイッチ等によりいずれかのモード設定が可能となっている。そして、このモード設定に関する情報をインターフェース装置５１が取得し、生成する印刷データにカラー情報を含ませるか否かを判断することができる。したがって、カラー印刷モードに設定されている場合であって、且つ印刷データにカラー情報が含まれる場合（例えば広告情報にカラー情報が含まれる場合）は、これに基づきレシート上に２色若しくは多色刷りの印刷を行うことが可能である。

なお、印刷装置５０がモノクロ印刷のみ、又はカラー印刷のみに対応する場合にも、その印刷装置５０の情報をインターフェース装置５１が取得し、印刷装置に適応した印刷データを生成することができる。このように、本発明では、インターフェース装置５１により印刷データを生成するため、端末装置４０がモノクロ印刷にしか対応できない場合（すなわち、レシート印刷情報にカラー情報を含む構成となっていない場合）であっても、広告情報部分をカラーで印刷することができる。

一方、メモリカード５２には、複数の広告情報（文字列（テキストデータ）、コマンド、グラフィックス（画像）データ、バーコード、２次元シンボル等で構成されるものも含まれる）が記憶され、さらに各広告情報は広告情報を付加する条件である付加条件情報と関連づけられて記憶されている。したがって、メモリカード５２に記憶されている複数の広告情報のうち、いずれの広告情報を付加するかは、取得したレシート印刷情報がいずれの付加条件を満足するかによって決定される。なお、メモリカード５２の配布・回収方法（配布・回収システム１００；図８参照）については後述する。

次に、ＰＯＳ端末２０の装置構成について、図２を参照して説明する。同図（ａ）は、ＰＯＳ端末２０をオペレータによる操作側から見た正面斜視図であり、同図（ｂ）は、これを顧客側から見た背面斜視図である。両図に示すように、ＰＯＳ端末２０は、箱形の本体ケース４８によってその主体部を成す端末装置４０と、本体ケース４８の後部左側に配置される印刷装置５０とによって構成されている。なお、印刷装置５０は、本体ケース４８とケーブル接続されているため、この配置に限らず、ケーブル長が許す範囲で任意の場所に配置可能となっている。

端末装置４０は、本体ケース４８の前部上面にオペレータが商品情報や顧客情報などの情報を入力するキーボード４３と、その後部右側にオペレータが入力情報を確認するオペレータ用ディスプレイ４２ａとを配置し、本体ケース４８内にはキャッシュドロア４９が収納さている。また、本体ケース４８の右側側面には商品に貼付若しくは印刷されたバーコードを読みとるためのバーコードリーダ４４、左側側面には印刷装置５０と接続するための本体側インターフェース４７を備え、キーボード４３の右側には、顧客から提示されたクレジットカードを読みとるためのカードリーダ用スロット４５が形成されている。さらに、本体ケース４８の背面側には、顧客が商品情報等を確認するための顧客用ディスプレイ４２ｂが配置されている。

一方、印刷装置５０は、その前面側のインターフェース基板装着スロット（基板スロット）５９に、メモリカード５２を脱着可能なインターフェース装置５１が装着されており、インターフェース装置５１と端末装置４０とは、コネクタ４６，５３を介して接続されている。また、印刷装置５０の上面には、印刷済みのレシート６１が排出されるレシート排出口６４が形成されている。

図３に示すとおり、インターフェース装置５１は、その前面側に動作表示ランプ５５と、端末装置用インターフェース５４と、メモリカード装着スロット５６とが配置されており、端末装置用インターフェース５４と、端末装置４０に備えられた本体側インターフェース４７とはケーブル６３によって接続されている（図２（ｂ）参照）。また、インターフェース装置５１は、中央部にＣＰＵ９１の他、ＲＯＭ９２、ＲＡＭ９３等のメモリを有する制御基板５７（図５参照）を備え、後部に印刷装置用インターフェース５８を備えている。そして、端末装置用インターフェース５４と、印刷装置用インターフェース５８と、動作表示ランプ５５と、ＲＯＭ９２と、ＲＡＭ９３とが、ＣＰＵ９１とバス接続されている。

なお、端末装置用インターフェース５４および印刷装置用インターフェース５８は、ＲＳ−２３２規格などのシリアルデータ転送、セントロニクス規格などのパラレルデータ転送、イーサネット（登録商標）の１０Ｂａｓｅ−Ｔなどのネットワーク接続、若しくはＵＳＢなどのデータ転送規格に対応したものを採用することができる。

次に、インターフェース装置５１の制御構成について、図４の機能ブロック図を参照して説明する。インターフェース装置５１の制御部５７は、メモリカード５２に記憶された広告情報および付加条件情報を読み出し、付加条件情報を満足するレシート印刷情報を検出した場合、当該付加条件情報に関連づけられた広告情報の付加を決定する「広告情報付加決定部８１」と、広告情報付加決定部８１によって付加することが決定された広告情報を、レシート印刷情報に付加して印刷データを生成する「印刷データ生成部８２」と、印刷データ生成部８２によって広告情報が付加された回数をカウントする「広告情報付加回数カウント部８３」とを備え、これらは主にＣＰＵ９１によって構成されている。
