現在、現金の代わりに決済手段として機能する各種カード、例えば、クレジットカード、デビットカード決済に用いられるキャッシュカード、電子マネーを扱うためのカード等が広く普及している。これらのカードの種類としては、磁気カード、接触IC(Integrated Circuit)カード、非接触ICカード等がある。

特に、非接触ICカードは、高いセキュリティ機能や優れた利便性等を有しているので、近年、電子マネーを取り扱うプリペイドカードとして採用されている。この非接触ICカードによるプリペイドカードでは、残額が少なくなったプリペイドカードに電子マネーを入金(チャージ)することができる。

このような非接触ICカードを用いた電子決済を行う店舗等には、図11に示すように、非接触ICカードに対しデータの読取/書込を行う専用の非接触カードリーダ/ライタ100を商品販売データ処理装置101に接続して設置する必要がある。

通常、この非接触カードリーダ/ライタ100は、顧客によって非接触ICカードがかざされたときに、非接触ICカードに対しデータの読取/書込を行う。したがって、商品販売データ処理装置101の操作者は、顧客に非接触ICカードを非接触カードリーダ/ライタ100にかざすように促す必要がある。

【発明が解決しようとする課題】
しかしながら、操作者が顧客に非接触ICカードを非接触カードリーダ/ライタ100にかざすように促すことは、顧客毎に行う必要があるので、操作者にとってかなりの負担になる。これは、商品販売データ処理装置101の利便性を低下させ、さらに、作業効率を低下させる要因になり問題である。

本発明は、商品の売上処理を実行する商品販売データ処理装置(例えばPOS端末)において、カード(例えば非接触ICカード)に対し電波を介してデータの読取/書込を行う非接触カードリーダ/ライタと、顧客に対する情報提供機能を有する情報提供部(例えばディスプレイ)と、前記非接触カードリーダ/ライタによる前記カードに対するデータの読取/書込に関連して顧客が行うべき作業内容(例えば非接触ICカードを非接触カードリーダ/ライタの上方にかざすこと等)を示唆する情報を前記情報提供部に提供させる情報提供手段と、を備える。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の実施の一形態を図1ないし図10に基づいて説明する。本実施の形態は、商品販売データ処理装置をPOS端末1に適用した一例である。図1は、操作者側から見たPOS端末1を示す外観斜視図、図2は、顧客側から見たPOS端末1を示す外観斜視図である。

POS端末1は、筐体状に形成された本体ケース1aを備え、ドロワ2上に載置されており、このドロワ2の引出し3の開閉を制御する。このPOS端末1は、本体ケース1aの上面に操作者の操作を受け付ける領域を備え、その操作領域には、各種のキーが集合するキーボード4、図示しない鍵によって切り換え操作されるコントロールキー5、レシートを排出するレシート発行口6が設けられている。操作者から見て、キーボード4及びコントロールキー5は右側の領域、レシート発行口6は左側の領域にそれぞれ配置されている。

図4は、カバー11の内部を示す縦断側面図である。図4に示すように、POS端末1には、非接触でICカードCに対しデータの読取/書込を行う非接触カードリーダ/ライタ12が設けられている。この非接触カードリーダ/ライタ12は、カバー11内であってカード載置部10に載置されたICカードCに対向する位置に位置付けられている。また、POS端末1には、音を出すスピーカ13及び反射型フォトセンサ14が設けられている。スピーカ13はカバー11内であって非接触カードリーダ/ライタ12の下方に位置付けられ、反射型フォトセンサ14は、カード載置部10に載置されたICカードCに対向する位置に位置付けられている。この反射型フォトセンサ14は、ICカードCがカード載置部10に有る場合にONになり、ICカードCがカード載置部10に無い場合にOFFになって、カード載置部10に対するICカードCの有無を検出する。

なお、非接触カードリーダ/ライタ12は、電波を送受信するためのアンテナ15、緑発光するLED16a及び赤発光するLED16bを備え、アンテナ15によってICカードCと電波を送受信して非接触でデータの読取/書込を行い、さらに、LED16a,16bによってデータの読取/書込異常等を報知する構造になっている。したがって、非接触カードリーダ/ライタ12は、カード載置部10に支持されたICカードCに対し電波の送受信が可能な位置に位置付けられている。

図5は、ICカードCが備える各部の電気的接続を概略的に示すブロック図である。図5に示すように、ICカードCはICチップ20を内蔵している。このICチップ20は、CPU21にバスライン22を介して、制御プログラム等を予め格納するROM23、RAM24、不揮発性の記憶部であるEEPROM25、通信回路26が接続されて構成されている。この通信回路26は、デジタル信号をアナログ信号に変換し(変調)、アナログ信号をデジタル信号に変換(復調)する回路等を備えている。通信回路26には、電波を送受信するためのアンテナ27が接続されている。EEPROM25には、IDコードや残額データ等が格納されている。そして、このようなICカードCには、非接触カードリーダ/ライタ12から送信された電波によってアンテナ27から電力が供給される。なお、本実施の形態のICカードCは近接型のICカードCであり、その通信距離は0〜10cmである。

次に、POS端末1が備える各部の電気的接続を図6に基づいて説明する。ここで、図6は、POS端末1が備える各部の電気的接続を概略的に示すブロック図である。図6に示すように、POS端末1は、マイクロコンピュータ(Microcomputer:以下、マイコンという)30を内蔵し、このマイコン30が各部を駆動制御する。マイコン30は、各部を集中的に制御するCPU(Central Processing Unit)31に、アドレスバス、データバス等のバスライン32を介して、起動プログラムや認証コード等の固定的データを予め格納するROM(Read Only Memory)33と売上バッファや印字バッファ等の各種バッファを構成して各種データを書き換え自在に格納するワークエリアとして機能するRAM(Random Access Memory)34とが接続されて構成されている。なお、RAM34は、バッテリ(図示せず)によってバックアップされている。
