【従来の技術】

野菜は生物であり、呼吸している。そのため、野菜に細く長く呼吸させる状態を保たせると、野菜の鮮度が長持ちし、栄養価の高い野菜を摂取できることが知られている。昔からの知恵として、新聞紙に野菜をくるむ方法は、酸素の供給を新聞紙の材質の通気性でコントロールするので、野菜の鮮度を長持ちさせる有効手段として利用されている。しかし、毎回、野菜を使用の都度包み直す必要があり、新聞紙も汚れたりしわになって包みにくくなるので能率的でなく、包装された中身が見えない欠点がある。

包装しないで野菜を冷蔵庫内に備えられた野菜収納ケースに入れると、鮮度の落ちるのが早い。店やスーパーマーケット等で販売しているラップ包装やビニール包装の状態で冷蔵庫内で保管すると、野菜に酸素を供給することができないので、野菜は呼吸することができず鮮度が落ち、傷みが早い。

【課題を解決するための手段】
