本発明は、主にフィルム、シート、レンズ、プリズム、光ファイバー、光記録媒体、並びに液晶表示素子などの光学製品に好適に用いられ、耐熱性に優れた共重合体に関するものである。

光学製品の保護部材や眼鏡レンズ、f・θレンズ、ピックアップレンズ等のレンズ、プリズム、光ファイバー、光記録媒体、光磁気記録媒体の基板などの成形体、並びに液晶表示素子の構成部材などの光学製品用材料には、複屈折率や光弾性係数が低いといった性質が求められ、例えば、スチレン−イソプレンブロック共重合体の水添物などが提案されている(例えば、特許文献1参照。)。

しかしながら、上記の重合体を用いた光学製品の耐熱性は、該製品の使用環境によっては、十分満足のいくものではなかった。
かかる状況下、本発明が解決しようとする課題は、耐熱性に優れ、光学製品に好適に用いられる共重合体を提供することにある。

【課題を解決するための手段】
本発明は、エチレンおよび/または直鎖状α−オレフィンと、環状オレフィンと、下記ビニル化合物(1)との共重合体にかかるものである。
ビニル化合物(1):CH2=CH−Rで表され、置換基Rの立体パラメータEsが−1.64以下であり、かつ置換基Rの立体パラメータB1が1.53以上であるビニル化合物。

【発明の実施の形態】
本発明の直鎖状α−オレフィンとしては、炭素原子数3〜20の直鎖状α−オレフィンが好ましい。かかる直鎖状α−オレフィンの具体例としては、プロピレン、1−ブテン、1−ペンテン、1−ヘキセン、1−ヘプテン、1−オクテン、1−ノネン、1−デセン等が挙げられ、より好ましくはプロピレン、1−ブテン、1−ヘキセンまたは1−オクテンであり、特に好ましくはプロピレンである。

本発明の環状オレフィンとは、4個以上の炭素原子が環を形成し、該環の中に1個の炭素−炭素二重結合を含む化合物のことである。このような環状オレフィンとしては、シクロブテン、シクロペンテン、シクロヘキセン、シクロオクテン等の単環状オレフィン;3−メチルシクロペンテン、4−メチルシクロペンテン、3−メチルシクロヘキセン等の置換単環状オレフィン;ノルボルネン、1,2−ジヒドロジシクロペンタジエン、テトラシクロドデセン等の多環状オレフィン;5−メチルノルボルネン等の置換多環状オレフィンが例示される。

得られた重合体の13C−NMRスペクトルを図1に示す。
該重合体のプレスシートは非常に透明性が高かった。

得られた重合体の13C−NMRスペクトルを図3に示す。
該重合体のプレスシートは非常に透明性が高かった。

得られた重合体の13C−NMRスペクトルを図5に示す。
