前記カラー画像に含まれる色毎に、その色を表すカラー情報を生成するカラー情報生成工程と、
前記カラー画像に含まれる色毎に、その色に対応するインデックスカラー画像を生成するインデックス画像生成工程と、
各カラー情報のうち、前記カラー画像を構成する色の出現分布に基づいて、近い色を示すカラー情報同士を統合する第1更新工程と、
各カラー情報のうち、該カラー情報を表す輝度と色差に基づいて、近い色を示すカラー情報同士を統合する第2更新工程と、
前記第1及び第2の更新工程での統合により得られた各カラー情報の色に対応する二値画像を、前記カラーインデックス画像を用いて生成し、圧縮する圧縮工程と、
前記第1及び第2の更新工程での統合により得られた各カラー情報と、前記圧縮工程で得られた二値圧縮画像とを出力する出力工程と
