っても、部品点数を減少させることによってコスト低減
が図られていたが、表示器が大きくなると照明装置の個
々の部品も大きくなり、そのような大きな部品は寸法精
度高く部品を製造することが困難になって、部品の歩留
まりが悪くなったり、組立てにくくなったり、あるい
は、かえってコストが高くなることが判った。更に照明
装置と表示器の寸法誤差が顕著になって表示器を支えき

成しても良い。ケース1の開口部には拡散手段3とし
て、レンズシートが3枚と光拡散シート1枚が積層され
ている。拡散手段はこのほか、乳白色シートや光拡散材
混練シートなどが利用でき、いずれも観察面から光源2
の位置が、強い光のある場所として、確認できない程度
に光を拡散できれば良い。この実施例ではケース1の背
面は開放されているが、裏蓋(底面)と一体成形されて
いてもよい。またケース1の光源を保持する桟または枠
体と拡散手段3の保持部を別部品で構成するなど、ケー

数、より好ましくは桟毎に分けて構成することで、各々
の部品の寸法精度を高め、また組立工数を考慮してもコ

するので、補強板はがたつかず、照明装置が堅牢にな
り、表示器とも整合性が良い。また、複数のシャーシで
構成することで、各々の部品単価は低下し、しかも寸法
精度が高まるので、コストが良く堅牢となる。さらに開
口部の周辺部分に表示器のガイド部をスライド可能に設
けるので、表示装置のガラス基板の大きさなどにばらつ
