2. Description of the Related Art An image forming apparatus using a toner for forming a visible image is provided with a fixing device for fixing a toner image on a recording sheet such as transfer paper as a permanent image. In such a fixing device, as shown in FIG.
When the recording sheet P carrying the unfixed toner image T is nipped and conveyed by the fixing roller 100 and the pressure roller 101 pressed against the fixing roller 100,
An apparatus that fixes an unfixed toner image on the recording sheet P by the action of heat and pressure is well known. In many fixing devices of this type, a heating unit is provided inside the fixing roller 100, and the sheet is passed through so that the unfixed toner image side contacts the fixing roller 100. Therefore, since the toner is offset on the fixing roller 100, a Teflon (trade name) coating layer is provided on the surface, or a Teflon tube is wound to improve the releasability and reduce the toner offset.

However, when such a separating claw 102 is provided, as shown in FIG. 5, the sheet P jammed in the paper discharge portion is bent in a bellows shape, hits near the tip of the separating claw 102, and is separated. In some cases, the claw 102 was pressed in a direction that bites into the fixing roller 100. When such a phenomenon occurs, the separation claw 102 may peel off the Teflon layer, and the fixing roller 100 may have to be replaced.

The guide surface 65 is formed on the transfer material P before the conveying surface 55 of the separating claw 50 moves up to the L position. It is provided so as to come into contact with. Further, the width of the guide surface 66 is a portion indicated by a symbol a in FIG. 4 from a perpendicular line passing through the center of the support shaft 61 to near the tip of the claw portion 51. This is because if the conveyance surface of the claw portion 51 is pushed to the left of the width a, the pushing force is clockwise with respect to the support shaft 61 in FIG. 4, that is, the claw portion 51 moves away from the fixing roller 30. Therefore, it is sufficient if the guide surface 66 of the guide member 65 is in the width a portion.
