Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a connector for a flat conductor, which can surely retain a positional relation of the flat conductor to a contact terminal 5 fixed to a housing.
SOLUTION: A operating member 7 rotatably held on a housing containing a plurality of contact terminals 5 and being able to insert and hold a flat conductor is provided, and grooved slits 7b are provided at positions corresponding to respective conductor portions of the flat conductor on a side end of a rotation axis of the operating member 7. A portion 5b of the contact terminal 5 for engaging with the operating member is engaged with the slit 7b, and a contact portion is brought into contact under pressure with the conductor portion of the flat conductor. Since the portion 5b of each of the contact terminals 5 for engaging with the operating member enters the slit 7b provided at the end of the operating member 7, a positional relation of the conductor portions of the flat conductor to the contact terminals 5 does not deviate even when the operating member 7 is laterally moved.
COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO

2. Description of the Related Art The applicant has invented and applied for a flat conductor connector disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 2001-230005 as a flat conductor connector. The present invention relates to improvements in this connector. In the flat conductor connector disclosed in Japanese Unexamined Patent Application Publication No. 2001-230005, an operating portion is supported by a bearing. Further, as a means for locking the operating member in the horizontal position, the operating member is provided with a convex portion and the housing is provided with a concave portion, and these are fitted to hold the locked state.

However, in the conventional flat conductor connector, although the operating portion is supported by the bearing, there is still a clearance that can move to the left and right with respect to the housing, and the operating portion is accommodated. Since the flat conductor thus formed can also move, the positional relationship with the contact terminal fixed to the housing may be deviated.

Further, the contact terminal includes a pair of contact portions forming a recess for receiving the end portion of the flat conductor and a soldering fixing portion for connecting to the substrate. The soldering fixing portion has an end face to be soldered. If the notch groove is provided, the notch groove 21 can prevent the displacement of the solder, eliminate the occurrence of a short-circuit bridge, and improve the soldering state.

Further, mounting members for soldering and fixing to the substrate are provided at both ends of the housing, and the mounting members include a body holding portion having a U-shaped cross section, and soldering tongue pieces extending therefrom. It has a folded-back portion and a leaf spring portion that extends forward from the folded-back portion through the body holding portion, and has an engaging hole at the tip of the leaf spring portion with which the locking projection of the operating member engages. If the metal plate is an integral body, the plate spring portion can be lengthened and a sufficient elastic force can be generated, so that the operating member can be reliably locked and released easily. Further, since the operating member is locked to the mounting member fixed to the substrate, the strength is improved.
