Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a passenger conveyor with installation space reduced especially in the cross direction and installable for renewal within the same dimensions yet extensible in the cross direction. SOLUTION: In this passenger conveyor, it is so designed that the width of a handrail 17 is Wa during the outward movement of the balustrade circumference and is reduced wholly or partially to Wb during the return movement of the same (Wa>Wb).

2. Description of the Related Art Generally, a passenger conveyor has a main frame composed of left and right side frames and a lateral member connecting these side frames as disclosed in Japanese Patent Laid-Open No. 3-124692. In this main frame, a plurality of treads connected endlessly to travel back and forth, balustrades erected at positions corresponding to both sides of these treads, and handrails that run around the periphery of the balustrade. I have you support it.

The above-mentioned prior art does not give consideration to reducing the installation space of the passenger conveyor. Therefore, for example, about 20 years after the installation, the passenger conveyor is removed and a new installation is renewed. Even if it tried, the passenger conveyor of the same tread (width) size had to be installed.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION In order to achieve the above object, the present invention uses a handrail in which the traveling width of the return path on the main frame side is wholly or partially compared to the traveling width of the outward path on the peripheral side of the balustrade. The running width was changed to be smaller.

With the above structure, the travel width of the handrail return path, which has conventionally existed between both sides of the width plate and the main frame, can be greatly reduced, and as a result, the widthwise dimension of the passenger conveyor can be reduced. Can be reduced.

The fact that the size of the passenger conveyor in the width direction can be reduced means that, if the installation size is the same, it is possible to adopt a tread having a margin in the width direction, in other words, an expanded width direction. This means that the removal and the renewal of the new installation can contribute to the increase of the transportation capacity of the passenger conveyor and the increase of the moving space.

In the step 9, the shaft of the front wheel 12 is connected to a step chain 21, and the step chain 21 is wound around a drive sprocket 22 which is supported in the upper machine chamber of the main frame 2. The drive sprocket 22 is installed in the vicinity, and a rotational force is transmitted by a drive machine 24.

In the escalator 1 of the above mechanism, the travel width Wb of the handrail 17 on the outward side on the peripheral side of the balustrade 14 (FIG. 1) is compared with the travel width Wb of the return path on the main frame 2 side in whole or in part. The respective running widths are changed so as to be small (Wa> Wb).

More specifically, on the forward side of the handrail 17, the wide upper surface of the handrail 17 is made to run in a horizontal state parallel to the step 11, and on the return side of the handrail 17, a state closer to vertical than horizontal. The vehicle is tilted in the direction of travel and the travel width of each is set to the return path (width Wb) rather than the outward path (width Wa).
The structure is made smaller. In this case, the change of the handrail 17 from the horizontal state to the tilted state is caused by engaging the inner circumference of the handrail 17 which is also fixed and fixed to the fixing member 25 fixed to the vertical member 7. The guide rail 26 guides the travel of the handrail 17 and has a function similar to that of a part (guide portion) of the handrail frame 16 so that the guide rail 26 is oriented. That is, the handrail 17 has a horizontal traveling width Wa when the guide frame 26 is placed in a horizontal state, and a traveling width Wb when placed in an inclined state, and a traveling state as shown in FIG. The return path of the handrail 17 can be set to have the traveling width Wb as a whole, and for example, the drive device portion of the handrail 17 or a portion having a space between the step 9 and the main frame 3 is horizontal. State (running width Wa)
In addition, as shown in FIG. 1, the portion where the notch 7A must be provided in order to get close to the vertical member 7 to obtain the traveling space of the handrail 17 is partially inclined (the traveling width Wb), and the notch 7A is formed. It is also possible to avoid. As shown in FIG. 1, the handrail 17 in the tilted state is so-called maintenance work in which the opening having a substantially C-shaped cross section faces the main frame 2 and is detached from the guide frame 26 or attached to the guide frame 26. Sometimes, it is convenient to be able to deal with the work space on the side of the step 9.

As described above, according to the embodiment of the present invention, since the traveling width of the handrail 17 on the return path can be reduced, the distance between the steps 9 and the main frame 2 can be reduced, and the vertical member 7 need not be cut out. The increase in cost and the decrease in strength are eliminated. It is also effective in securing a maintenance work space.

For example, after about 20 years have passed since the escalator was installed, the internal mechanism is designed with a large margin, so when renewal, the step width of the existing escalator is the same, but the step width of the existing escalator is wide. 10
If the width is 00 mm, a renewal escalator with a step width of 1200 mm can be installed to improve the transportation capacity and expand the moving space.
