Description: BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a portable electronic device such as a mini-disc player, a compact disc player, or a portable telephone, which is equipped with a rechargeable battery. The present invention relates to a table-type charging device that enables charging. [0002] In recent years, mini-disc players, compact disc players, and the like, as well as portable communication devices (portable terminals) such as portable telephones, have become remarkably portable due to their small size. These portable electronic devices have a built-in battery serving as a power supply source for internal devices. As the battery, a rechargeable secondary battery such as a nickel-metal hydride storage battery or a lithium-sulfur storage battery is mainly used. Here, when the battery voltage drops, charging is required. For this charging, for example, a charger as shown in FIG. 5 is generally well known. In FIG. 5, M denotes a table-top charger main body (desk holder). The charger main body M is formed with a seat H for placing a portable telephone as a portable electronic device, for example. An AC adapter W for plugging into an outlet of a commercial power supply or the like is connected to the charger main body M, and a charging terminal e for contacting an external electrode of the mobile phone is provided at the seating portion H. According to this type of charger, for example, power is supplied to a mobile phone from an AC adapter W connected to a commercial power supply through a charging terminal e, and a battery (secondary battery) built therein is charged. Can be. [0004] However, the conventional table-type charger has the advantage that the battery can be charged simply by placing the portable electronic device on the seating portion. It only has the function and does not show any special effect. The inventors of the present invention have invented a charging device as shown in FIG. 6 in which a charger body has an additional function.
As shown in FIG. 6, the charger includes a speaker unit Sy composed of a speaker body S and an amplifier A as an additional function in a charger body M, and rectifies an external AC power obtained by an AC adapter W by a charging circuit E. While the DC voltage is distributed to the portable electronic device P (for example, portable MD) and the speaker unit Sy, and the battery B in the portable MD is distributed.
This allows the speaker unit Sy to be driven while charging the portable MD. According to this, the acoustic signal reproduced by the portable MD being charged can be output from the speaker unit Sy as a sound wave. In FIG. 6, L is a signal line for supplying an acoustic signal of the portable electronic device P to the speaker unit Sy. [0006] However, in the above-described charging device, the speaker unit is not driven unless the charger main body is connected to a commercial power supply or the like, so that there is a problem that its function cannot be exhibited anywhere. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION The present invention has been made in view of the above circumstances, and an object of the present invention is to add a function other than charging to a charger main body so that the additional function can be exhibited regardless of a place. It is in. [0008] In order to achieve the above object, the present invention achieves the above object by providing a charger main body 4 having a seating portion 5 for arranging a portable electronic device 1 to which a rechargeable battery 2 is mounted. And a connector 8 (AC adapter) for connecting the charger main body 4 to an external power supply.
Is supplied to the portable electronic device 1 disposed in the seating portion 5 to allow the battery 2 to be charged. When the power supply from the connector 8 is stopped, the charger body 4 5 is provided with an additional device 10 (speaker unit) which is driven by using the battery 2 of the portable electronic device 1 disposed as the power supply 5 as a power supply. An embodiment of the present invention will be described below in detail with reference to the drawings. First, FIG. 1 shows a preferred embodiment of the charging device according to the present invention. In FIG. 1, reference numeral 1 denotes a small portable electronic device such as a portable mini-disc player, a compact disc player, or a mobile phone (in this example, a mini-disc player;
D), and a rechargeable battery 2 (secondary battery) such as a nickel-metal hydride storage battery is loaded and mounted in the device body. On the other hand, reference numeral 3 denotes a charging device of the present invention for charging the battery 2 mounted on the portable electronic device as described above. The charging device 3 includes a charger main body 4 serving as a base on which the portable electronic device 1 is mounted. It is composed as a main body.
The charger main body 4 includes a seating portion 5 that supports the lower end surface of the portable electronic device 1 and a U-shaped frame 6 that holds the portable electronic device 1 disposed on the seating portion 5 so as to hold it. The seat 5 is provided with a charging terminal that is in contact with an external electrode (not shown) of the portable electronic device 1. A connector (for example, an AC adapter 8 as shown) is connected to the charger main body 4 via a connector 7.
Power obtained by the AC adapter 8 (mainly AC100V
Commercial power supply) through a charging terminal
And the battery 2 attached thereto can be charged. The charger main body 4 is provided with a charge indicator 9 near the seat 5 to indicate that the battery 2 is in a charged state. The charge display unit 9 extends in the width direction of the portable electronic device 1 disposed on the seating unit 5 and is indirectly illuminated by a light source (not shown). Display 9 and portable electronic device 1
Irradiation is carried out toward the upper part of the surface of the portable electronic device 1 between the two. Further, a speaker unit 10 is provided in the charger body 4 as an additional device. In particular, the speaker unit 10 is driven by supply of external power from the AC adapter 8 and is driven by using the battery 2 of the portable electronic device 1 as a power source when power supply from the AC adapter 8 is stopped. FIG. 2 shows a block diagram thereof. In FIG. 2, reference numeral 11 denotes an existing charging circuit for forming a DC voltage suitable for charging the battery 2, and its output side is connected to a charging terminal e provided on a seating portion and via an amplifier power supply circuit 12. Connected to speaker unit 10. The amplifier power supply circuit 12 receives DC power from the charging circuit 11 or the battery 2 of the portable electronic device,
And a step-up type DC / DC converter that outputs to the
For example, the circuit configuration is as shown in FIG. On the other hand, the speaker unit 10 obtains boosted power from the amplifier power supply circuit 12 and
Amplifier 1 for amplifying input signal (audio signal) from
0A and a speaker body 10B driven by input power from the amplifier 10A. Reference numeral 13 denotes a signal line for inputting a signal to the speaker unit 10, one end of which is connected to a headphone jack j provided in the portable electronic device 1 in the present embodiment, and is controlled by the portable electronic device 1 in the middle. A controller C for providing a signal is interposed (see FIG. 1). An acoustic signal output terminal is provided in the vicinity of an external electrode terminal (not shown) of the portable electronic device 1, and an acoustic signal is supplied to the speaker unit 10 in the vicinity of the charging terminal e of the seating portion 5 of the charger main body 4. When the portable electronic device 1 is placed on the seat 5, the audio signal output terminal and the audio signal input terminal come into contact with each other, and the portable electronic device 1 can be connected to the portable electronic device without using the signal line 13. A sound signal may be supplied from the device 1 to the speaker unit 10 on the charger main body 4 side. Here, the operation of the charging device 3 configured as described above will be described. First, in order to charge the battery 2 of the portable electronic device 1, for example, an AC adapter 8 is used as a connector, and the AC adapter 8 is inserted into an outlet of a commercial power supply, and the connector 7 of the AC adapter is connected to the charger main body 4. Then, with the battery 2 attached to the portable electronic device 1, the battery 2 is inserted into the frame 6 and placed on the seating portion 5, and the external electrode thereof is brought into contact with the charging terminal e provided on the seating portion 5. Thus, an AC commercial power supply (external power supply)
The power taken out of the portable electronic device 1 by the AC adapter 8 is adjusted to an appropriate voltage by the charging circuit 11.
The power supplied to the portable electronic device 1 is supplied to the portable device 1 and the speaker unit 10, and charging of the battery 2 mounted inside the portable electronic device 1 is started. At this time, when the main power of the portable electronic device 1 (portable MD) is turned on and the information recording medium (MD) (not shown) loaded therein is driven for reproduction, the audio signal is supplied to the speaker unit 10 through the signal line 13. This is output as a sound wave from the speaker body 10B. Therefore, it is possible to drive the speaker unit 10 while charging the battery 2 with an external power supply, and enjoy music and the like. On the other hand, when the AC adapter 8 is unplugged from an outlet or the like and the supply of external power to the charger main body 4 by the AC adapter 8 is stopped, the amplifier power is supplied from the battery 2 attached to the portable electronic device 1 through the charging terminal e. A discharge current is supplied to the circuit 12, and the supplied power drives the speaker unit 10. Therefore, even when the power supply from an external power supply such as a commercial power supply is stopped, while the battery 2 maintains a certain level of voltage, the portable electronic device 1 and the speaker unit 10 are driven by the power while the audio signal is output. External output can be performed at a predetermined sound pressure level (a small speaker can be driven by the battery 2 for 7 to 8 hours). If the portable electronic device 1 is left in the seat 5 after charging is completed, the voltage of the portable electronic device 1 drops due to the discharge of the battery 2 even when the main power supply is turned off. In order to prevent this, a circuit as shown in FIG. In FIG. 4, 14 is a main power switch provided in the portable electronic device, 15 is an IC (Digital-signal-processer) connected to the main power switch 14,
Reference numeral 16 denotes an audio signal output unit. According to this circuit, when the main power switch 14 is turned off, an electric circuit from the battery 2 to the charger main body 4 is cut off to prevent the battery 2 from discharging. it can. The preferred embodiment of the present invention has been described above.
The charging device according to the present invention is not limited to a portable electronic device being a portable MD, but can be applied to other audio devices, mobile phones, and the like. You can have a hands-free conversation. Further, the additional device is not limited to a speaker unit.
An image signal or a character signal can be output as a display device such as a CD. Further, an illumination effect can be obtained by driving the additional device as a blinking illumination device with a battery of a portable electronic device. As is apparent from the above description, according to the present invention, a charging device for a portable electronic device such as a portable MD, a portable CD, or a mobile phone is provided.
An additional device such as a speaker unit is provided in the charger main body, and even when power supply from the connector to the charger main body is stopped, the additional device is driven by the battery of the portable electronic device. Even in places where it is difficult to obtain an external power source, the functions of the additional device can be exhibited, and music and conversation can be enjoyed with the portable electronic device arranged in the charger main body.
