This application filed on February 27, 1996 concerning the title of the invention "Abdominal Combination Exercise Device"
No. 08 / 607,616.
Field of invention
The present invention relates to a body for improving the tension, size and shape of abdominal and gluteal muscles
The growing field of stretching and athletic activity, especially isometric
The present invention relates to an abdominal exercise device that provides both exercise and kinetic exercise.
Background of the Invention
It is well known that it is difficult to separate and strengthen the abs and gluteal muscles. Abs
Exercise over many hours and years is generally required to have a significant effect on the system.
It is important. A pole that strengthens the abdominal muscles without putting unnecessary stress on the lower back
A more efficient prior art device is disclosed in US Pat.
, 304. The device described in the '304 is "Abflex"
And widespread commercial success. Abflex is excessive
An isometric contraction method for the abdominal musculature that can prevent lumbar movement. Subject is a pair
Pulls the handle with both hands and contracts the abdominal muscles at the same time, thereby tensioning
Move the abdomen relative to the member.
Abflex is extremely effective, but the isoflex provided by Abflex
Metric movement needs to be supplemented by kinetic movement. Upper body of user
There are many exercise devices that allow the user to exercise the abdomen by rotating the
Are known as crunch-type exercises. Traditional crunch
Type devices, however, have some disadvantages. For example, equipment users
Can move freely, so reduce the rotational moment around the abdomen
There is a tendency to "mock" by moving the body.
Furthermore, conventional devices do not exercise the abdomen by isometric exercise.
Therefore, the effect of the exercise provided by Abflex cannot be obtained. Do a lot of exercise
People want to make their abdomen tense without undue time,
Device allows such a user to perform different types of abdominal movements and
And / or does not allow the user to perform any combination of contractions
The exercise choices and force more exercise time than desired. Therefore
Different types offering both isometric and kinetic exercise
To provide an exercise device that effectively and simultaneously enables abdominal movement and / or contraction of the abdomen
Needs.
Summary of the Invention
The present invention is based on the conventional abdominal exercise device, the advantages of isometric exercise and kinetic exercise.
It is improved by combining with the advantages of To achieve the benefits of both types of exercise
In addition, according to the first embodiment, the present invention relates to the rotation of the platform for receiving the user.
It consists of a structure that is freely connected. In this embodiment, the structure is
It consists of two V-shaped members parallel to each other in a plane perpendicular to the profile.
The platform is connected to a resistance structure, which is
Pos rigidly connected to the platform and extending vertically away therefrom
Consisting of This post is connected to the frame, and the frame is connected to the plunger.
Have been. The plunger includes a pad that contacts the abdomen of the user. The plunger is
It is shaped to provide resistance to the abdomen of the user.
In effect, the user rests his back on the platform and grasps the cross member.
And rotate the body along the rotating structure. When the user rotates forward
The plunger provides direct resistance to the user's abdomen via the pad.
You. This direct resistance provides isometric movement and resists user rotation
. This enhances the kinetic movement of the rotation or "crunch" type.
In another preferred embodiment, the abdominal exercise device of the present invention comprises two upwardly extending side walls.
Platform. Above the platform between the side walls
An adjustment belt including an abdominal pad is positioned. The belt is one of
Mounted on a series of hooks extending from the side of the
The elastic cord is connected to the platform.
In use, the user places the platform such that the abdominal pad is adjacent to the abdomen.
Put the lower back on the room. The belt is used by the user for "crunch" type exercise
Rotate forward as above, the abdominal pad and elastic cord directly resist the abdomen
Tighten around the abdomen. If this resistance provides isometric motion
Both resist the rise of the abdomen caused by the rotation of the user.
The preferred form is currently widespread in the market with many trademarks such as "ABROLLER"
It is preferably used in combination with existing "roller" type exercise devices. Representative times
An inversion type device is disclosed in U.S. Pat. No. 5,492,520 and includes a pair of supports.
Flare that forms a holding rail
A headrest, a pair of bow-shaped swinging portions, a pair of armrest portions, and the support
Consists of a standing bow that connects the rails together. For use in combination with roller type equipment
In, the abdominal exercise device of the present invention is positioned below the roller device between the support rails,
This allows the user to rotate the abdominal pad and elastic cord forward with the roller device.
Gives resistance to the abdomen when rolling. This resistance is isometric abdominal exercise
To increase the kinetic movement of the roller device at the same time.
The above and other advantages will be more fully understood by reference to the following drawings and detailed description.
It will be fully understood.
