A vegetable oil or a vegetable oil fatty acid ester is used as a diluent for metal soap, which is a main component of a dryer.
Further, by using a semi-drying oil as the vegetable oil, the drying property of the ink and the storage stability of the drier can be adjusted to an appropriate state.

Metal salts of heavy metals such as iron and zinc and various carboxylic acids are generally used. Since these metal salts have high viscosity and are difficult to handle as they are, they are usually diluted with a volatile organic diluent such as light oil.

It is an object to reduce the burden on the environment by eliminating the emission of volatile organic diluents. At this time, ease of handling of the dryer is not impaired. It is another object of the present invention to maintain the same drying property of a printing ink film as an ink using a dryer according to the present invention, which is equivalent to an ink using a conventional dryer.

This solves the above problem. Examples of diluents that have substantially no volatility without impairing the printability of the lithographic ink include vegetable oils and / or vegetable oil fatty acid esters.
A solution of the seed or two or more dryers is provided as a solution.

Vegetable oil fatty acid esters have a lower viscosity than vegetable oils, and when used as a diluent, have the advantage that a small amount of a dryer with good fluidity can be obtained. However, there is a demerit that drying is delayed when the amount used in the ink increases. Usually, the amount added to the ink product of the dryer is less than 5%, and even if a vegetable oil fatty acid ester is used, there is no adverse effect such as delaying drying.

If the amount exceeds 30, the drying proceeds rapidly during storage of the dryer, and the viscosity increases and the skin becomes thicker, which makes it difficult to add the ink during ink production. If the iodine value is less than 100, the drying property of the added ink may be reduced.

Specific examples include soybean oil, linseed oil, drill oil, castor oil, dehydrated castor oil, corn oil, safflower oil, and canol oil. In the present invention, these vegetable oils may be used alone or in combination of two or more. When a drying oil is used, a problem may occur in stability over time due to the effect of the dryer. Therefore, when considering stability over time, drying in ink, etc., a semi-dry oil such as soybean oil is preferable. .

(1) Direct method A fatty acid is reacted with a metal, a metal oxide, or a hydroxide, dehydrated, filtered, and then diluted with a diluent such as vegetable oil or vegetable oil fatty acid ester to obtain a product. Applies to lead, zinc, cobalt, etc. (2) Metathesis method The fatty acid is converted into a water-soluble salt, usually a sodium salt, and a water-soluble salt of the target metal is added thereto. An ion exchange reaction called metathesis is performed, followed by washing, dehydration, and filtration. The product is diluted and adjusted with a diluent such as vegetable oil or vegetable oil fatty acid ester. Applies to manganese, zirconium, iron, copper, etc.

The term “parts” means “parts by weight”, and “%” means “% by weight”. These numbers represent the percentage of the finished dryer in Examples A to I. Example J shows the ratio to the finished varnish. Further, the present invention is not limited to the following embodiments. (Example A of Adjustment of Dryer) A liquid dryer (A) was obtained by dispersing 50% of manganese naphthenate and 5% of cobalt octylate in 45% of soybean oil. (Example B of adjusting the dryer) Manganese naphthenate 50%, cobalt octylate 5%, soybean oil fatty acid butyl ester 45%
To obtain a liquid dryer (B). (Dryer Adjustment Example C) A liquid dryer (C) was obtained by dispersing 50% of cobalt octylate in 50% of soybean oil. (Example D of adjusting dryer) A liquid dryer (D) was obtained by dispersing 70% of manganese naphthenate in 30% of soybean oil. Further, it is possible to provide a printing ink composition that eliminates the emission of volatile organic diluent into the atmosphere, reduces the burden on the environment, and maintains the same drying property of printing ink as before.
